Fresh from college, I started as MIS tech support, it exposed me to helpdesk/hardware servicing, then after 6 months, I apply for NOC tech, after 9 months, I was promoted to network engineer...the learnings I gain from those positions was still relevant in my network engineering journey.

Hi Saul, usually helpdesk duties include things like what you mentioned but also password resets, network, software, system, user troubleshooting (Level 1).
If your organization has other individuals working on more complex tasks you can also approach them to let you in on their troubleshooting process to get you exposed to more niche/complex things.

Does a remote help desk job ( working from home ) carry the same weight as a help desk job woring from a company building? I work remote from home as a help deck analyst. What could be my next step? I was yhinking system admin soon. Any input would be helpful. Thank you.

Hi Kyle, yes having a remote job will help as well. Helpdesk jobs are one of the ways you can progress in the industry and not the only way (hope this helps).
With regards to your query about what should be your next step, that would be to try and get as much exposure to sys admin related things from your current role but also try and learn additional things through online courses/certifications and home labs. Continue this learning path and you will achieve your goals.

Is help desk and Service Desk Analyst both same? Can working as SDA also plays a role to get into cyber security?

Hi mate, yes the Helpdesk and Service Desk Analyst are pretty much the same. You can also add Tech support officer, support engineer etc into the same bracket.
The certifies ethical hacker (CEH) is a very common certification for someone looking to get into pen-testing. You can probably couple that with the Security+ just to understand cybersecurity from a high-level perspective as well.
