A new relationship seemingly started out okay until she felt comfortable enough to declare it now was a choice between being with her - or my dog and my gun collection - that she didn't want around.

I was almost two years with lady who applied to me silent treatment - she played angry for months. . . I stopped to contact her and she called me why. I said I have no time for talking because I am back in Africa (year before I took her with me for our common enjoyment) I realy left Europe without word to her.
She called me amost two years later asking how things are going and that she has some expenses for her health. I answered come to me but I now am retired. She resigned and she never contacted me later. Since that time I was in realtions only with asian ladies beacuse they wouldn't play such hard core games .

I am 60, my son is now 26. I told him long ago when he was 13, always make sure the girl you date likes the same things you do and you like the same as she. He met a girl gaming online, after about 4 years they decided to take the next step. They live in another state, have just bought a home, still game, have great paying jobs and are enjoying their life together. So glad my son listened to my advice. I truly believe if you don't have everything in common, it is not going to work. Looks, money and s*x don't make a relationship or marriage. True and deep relationships are more than that.

Charming, I love this, all good advice. My two cents worth is that you can have totally different interests as long as you totally connect on the existential stuff, things like values, morals and worldview. It's almost impossible to comprehensively assess all this during the first few light-hearted social meetings but it's mindblowing when you find someone you have chemistry with and an immediate connection to, suspecting it's because all these sacred unspoken things are shared. I think that's what people mean when they talk about 'love at first sight'. Not necessarily, LITERALLY at that first sight, but within a unusually compressed amount of time. It's delightful when it's even platonic and you make a new friend in this way. Isn't it great? Such a gift and it's heartbreaking when people don't appreciate the rarity of it when young and operating at high velocity, thinking life will always be that easy. PS= Enthusiasm is one of the most attractive qualities a person can have. It's so contagious and uplifting. Even if a partner or friend isn't into what I'm into, if they're interested in knowing more about my passions that's good enough, and vice versa. Everybody loves to be around a self-propelling, self-sufficient generous person.

I am a rectally ugly male. Though no female will look my way, I still do not cater to their ego. It would not help me anyway. Thus, I find no reason for stroking a woman's ego by treating her like a princess. However, I will not be rude nor cruel to one either, unless they give me a reason. Being undesirable to the opposite sex has advantages. When one knows they have no chance, no effort is put in. Long ago, a woman wanted to use my pickup truck. I had no problem with that. But I wanted a full tank of fuel and a car wash. She returned the pickup truck empty and filthy from hauling horse barn mock. She said, "I did not have time to get the fuel and wash it. Her reply has slipped through my memory vault's cracks but I remember he flattened her with, 'Ohh, I see what you're trying to do here. You know that you're not good looking enough to be trying this act, expecting guys you don't know to buy you drinks, right?'. I wasn't the one being spoken to, but I still wanted the ground to swallow me up so I can only imagine how totally broken she felt, speechless as someone gave her the mother of all wake up calls. Imagine being told by a stranger you're not pretty enough to 'try this act'. Ouch. I'm positive that interaction stuck with her for life, like a red scar that will never fade. One can only hope she learned an important lesson in how she behaves and how she treats men. Academic feminists REALLY need to get out of their little bubbleworld and see how the 52% REALLY behave out there. There are more in-house issues than they are even remotely aware of.

I wish I had learned this lesson in my youth. It took me until my late 40's to understand that having "nice guy syndrome (now called Simping) just doesn't work for a long term or permanent relationship. That's obviously not true for EVERYONE but I think it is true for most "nice guys". They're almost always manipulative and selfish behind their facade and I think the "bad boy" image appeals to some women more because it's obvious those guys don't care about the facade as much.
It's good to be kind. And generous. And patient. It's not necessarily good to be "nice".

After reading some of these comments I am so very grateful that I found my wife when I did. I had a thing for hot, yet very mentally unstable chick's(Cap'n Save A Hoe syndrome). I grew up watching how disrespectful my father was to my mother, cheating on her, making shitty comments, and just being an all around douche. I always told myself that I would NEVER be like him. Many of my past GFs didn't recognize how devoted I was to being good to them.
