It would have been priceless as a journey down memory lane if you had stopped at each station even for seconds. I have taken that train ride many many times in the sixties.
740mph? Not only did they have a supersonic train, but they had some sort of inertial dampener inside the train to let people survive all those turns and twists. That's a technology that the rest of the world is still trying to achieve.
Nope a 170 DMU to work the 10.00 ex Liverpool Street to Norwich under the wires. It was the only booked DMU out of Liverpool Street back then. Quite often a cabride when I fancied something different to a DBSO.
This cab view was filmed in black and white in the late 1980's / early 1990's. Not as early as its trying to make out. The BTP Station at Southend Vic wasnt built until the period I mentioned and can be seen as the train arrives at Southend Vic. Also, Driver Steve Flemming seen grinning as train passes through stratford was at Southend Vic at time mentioned.
A rather strange comment. As it says in the text it covers many years and several different films. I shot all the moving (route) footage in colour and changed it to monochrome in post. Steve was inserted from another film I shot while we were training on the LTS units. The L.st to Southend footage I filmed from an old directors saloon that was being propelled by a class 31 or 47. Yes as you say it would be about late eighties it was not pretending to be any particular time just a bit of fun. Most of the training films are available online for free. In colour!
"Many years".... Hmm. No. The presence of Anglia and FGE liveries dates most of this footage to post-1998 at the earliest. Looks like the trip is made in a 321 unit?
All the music and the opening and closing shots are from the 1950s London to Brighton film.
Slightly modified

I only got invited on the track inspection saloon once, from Clapham Junction.
Enjoyed the late 80s view of Wickford, Rayleigh and on to Southend Victoria!
1:43 looked like an electrostar so my guess is late 90’s-very early 2000’s

You should have slowed down at the stations along the way. I nearly went crazy watching this video.
Good to see the distinctive rear windows of Moultons of Ilford. Gave me early earning of Seven Kings station coming.

Anglia Railways existed from 1997-2004 so it would be between those years.
Nice work. Thanks.
Why was the Anglia Railways loco set at 0:56 going up the lea valley lines and not the geml?
It wasn't. The West Anglia lines are to the extreme left running through the Bishops Gate tunnels.
She was on the Down Main not the Down Suburban.
Love it
Lengthenmen without high-viz gear ! They certainly stand out 😂😂😂.
Looks like 300 mph.

Some of this is fake because BBC did make a train video like this but not Liverpool streets
It
Stop, I wanted to get off!
