The Old Grey Whistle Test, Live performance at BBC Television Theatre, London, England November 11, 1975
Bob Harris presents a 1975 Lynyrd Skynyrd concert from BBC TV Theatre, Shepherd's Bush, featuring Double Trouble, I Ain't The One, Call Me the Breeze, Same Old Blues, Every Mother's Son, Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird.
This is absolutely spectacular, the greatest band EVER. May they all rest in sweet peace ❤
The real Lynyrd Skynyrd in action. RIP Ronnie, Allen, Billy, Gary and Leon...
00:30 Double Trouble
03:14 I Ain't The One
07:02 Call Me The Breeze
12:58 Same Old Blues
17:14 Every Mother's Son
23:15 Sweet Home Alabama
29:15 Free Bird
It's hard to believe that on November 11th, 2023, this show will actually be forty-eight years since this concert was shown and recorded by the BBC in London.
It's still so fresh you'd think it had been recorded yesterday. It's so sad that since Gary Rossington's passing, only Artimus Pyle is still alive but I'm sure that those who have now left us continue to put shows on up in Heaven. They may be gone, but they and their music will live on forever in our hearts. God bless them all.
Thank you, Lynyrd Skynyrd. You will never be forgotten.
Unbelievable the video quality
@@cezarcamargo5380 Upscaled.

My apologies to you all for that slip of the tongue.
I have since edited the piece.

Simply the best in history. And this is without their famous "Three guitar attack"
This is singlehandedly the best version of Freebird. Look at Billy on that 9ft Steinway concert piano!!!!! The whole band is playing at their absolute finest! The British were lightyears ahead at engineering and recording for a Television broadcast in 1975! This is a pure frozen time capsule!!!!
czcams.com/video/QxIWDmmqZzY/video.htmlsi=H0EHksWQMkHH6tnA
Billy was peak here man! I was in awe just watching him on Call Me The Breeze! BILLY ON PIANO 09:43 !
This is one of the highest quality videos I've seen...
Crazy how Allen Collin’s plays the whole freebird solo himself here cuz they don’t have a third guitarist
One of the most authentic and pure bands of the 70s. Their legacy will continue..
Something about this group of Americans from the south that was just above the rest ( Stones, Zep, Free etc) fantastic band and a very tragic end.
Rest in peace Gary
Saw them in concert in Northern California around '75 or '76. They played a half hour of Freebird. It was awesome!
There ain't nothing better to listen to this @1a.m.!!
HeeeeHeeee!!! or @ 1pm
Or 3am
RIP Gary Rossington
How could it be this masterpiece of a live performance has so few views?
The way allen collins plays is outstanding and is only topped by the way the band plays together..
I agree . This AI upscaling is mind numbing !!!! It's like it was filmed this week !!!!!! Amazing !!!
And the video quality is amazing, i really wish they would come out with skynyrd dvds or whatever there is nowadays that a person could buy. Give the profit to their kin. Doesn’t get more real than this
They were so tight. Amazing band.
Thank you for the download. Imagine if the original lineup was still going. No offense to the money grabbers that tour as Lynyrd Skynyrd today but they aren't even close.
The normal people don't deserve Skynyrd, bro. It's sacred, and I like it that way. Let them listen to "sweet home" all day.
This is gold
I love Gary's clothing style...always so cool. His shirts with cuffs unbuttoned.
Gary was wearing a jacket. Great style.
Oh my God. It is incredible seeing this in HD.
free bird: one of the best guitar solos ever!
Gary's solo on call me the breeze is simply flawless
Thank you. On most songs Gary was lead and Allen was rhythm
This channel that uploaded this, I’m not a religious man but Gott Damn BLESS YOU my friend all the way from New Zealand
Thank you very much from Utah!
Yessir, great music is universal
This is very wonderful footage. Old Grey Whistle Test was a well produced television show for music.
Wish Ed King would’ve been in on that . Rock in Peace Ed.
This is absolute gold…probably the best live footage from peak Skynyrd…thank you for posting this masterpiece…
Wtf is this 864 views..there should be thousands of people watching that great great performance!! The good ole days how I mis them
Wow!!! Amazing concert, amazing video! The only thing missing is Ed King, but damn its enjoyable watching Rossington/Collins shred those guitars!!! The best guitar duo since Duane and Dickey!!!
You know you hear these songs so many times you take it for granted. Then u sit down and watch all the band do their thing on stage and you just get a whole new appreciation for the music. Love watching him sing w the mic stand
Exactly what I was thinking when I scrolled down and saw your comment.
i am grateful for this recording but it lacked their faithful followers jumping up and down. i also like his deal with the mike stand instead of behaving like mariah carey or jagger or whoever; the man had class
I might be brown, and i might not support confederacy, but god damn do i love lynyrd skynyrd
We don't support you either. Not because you're brown.... because you're judging something you most likely know nothing about
Saw em 2 times with Ed King. Once with Allen an Gary. And once with Steve Gaines. I just loved the band as a whole. Billy Powell was always amazing on Keys. RVZ on vocals. They had a cool kinda heavy Southern rock thing with tunes like MCA. I Ain’t the One and also had a true southern blues deal with Ballad of Curtis Lowe. I loved em. Loved Allmans as well. Outlaws where real deal. Tucker was fantastic. These guys had something that I just loved. An can’t pinpoint. But I know I loved em
R.I.P gary
That crowd seems mighty subdued after Skynyrd burned the house down with Freebird. I'm 68 years old and I couldn't sit still. I jumped up out of my recliner and yelled, FREEBIRD!
Dear Gen z's This is rock and roll Not that sorry ass shit That you play on your little tiny Power Rangers boombox😅.
The reason why I play guitar...
Crowds used to respect performers talent, not sing along with every song like they do today😬
Stuffy weirdo crowd at old grey Whistle - In 1975 it wouldn't be "cool" to jump and and dance - Bet they wanted to though (I am from England and know this show)
Love leon,s bass playing
Ive never seen a band shred a stage like that, freebird was incredible. LEGENDARY performance. The empty stage at the end....
Wow I'm exhausted now! Wonderful
32:30 wow these bird sounds with the guitar is insane
36:59 f ing great ❤ rip much luv
Aw, thank you, Allen for putting a spot light on BP’s piano solo.
…AND THIS BIRD YOU CANNOT CHANGE 🤘🏼🦅🎸🎹🇺🇸
This was right after the release of "Gimme Back my Bullets" a totally underrated album
This footage is the holy grail oh my lord
Live at Knebworth or Day on the Green. Performed before HUGE live audiences
Ronnie passed the day after my 3rd birthday.. when i was 6 i was popping them in my mom's 8 track.....
By 10 I knew just about all their songs and haven't stopped!!! The music carries on beautifully
Awesome, just awesome....Love Skynyrd!!!
Super kapela❤
greatest guitar solo in history
The days before electronics. When good bands playing live sounded as good as they did on the albums
Alot of bands actually lip sung on the old grey whistle test... Even back then it was common.
best southern rock band ever to do it by god
RVZ was the man never wore shoes on stage !!!
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!
Damn, the real deal right there. I put this on Facebook!
a living legend this group, love them from day one till now just the same way
I love them. Up there with my top five bands.
Two years before I was born I was born in 77 the year the tragedy happened I grew up in Bradenton and Ocala FL boy I wish I could've seen them live in person
00:30 Double Trouble
03:14 I Ain't The One
07:02 Call Me The Breeze
12:58 Same Old Blues
17:14 Every Mother's Son
23:15 Sweet Home Alabama
Doing God's work. Thanks!
This is fucking awesome!! Thanks for posting this!
British TV.
I LOVE YOU Lynyrd Skynyrd ❤
Skynyrds musicians were incredible!
Gary and Allen are incredible guitarists. Leon,Artemis and Billy carry the rhythm and keep it driving. Leon is an incredible bassist, he doesn’t get enough praise for how incredible he is. He and Ronnie’s vocals compliment each other greatly!
My boys Skynyrd best babd of all time to me. And Marshall Tucker too.
I do love the MTB.. but IMHO it's Skynyrd and the most underrated and most southern of southern rock bands of all, Wet Willie. I mean look at their songs. Leona, Dixie Rock, Shout Bamalama, Country Side of Life, Grits Ain't Groceries, ect. They don't get more southern than Wet Willie
That solo at 4:48 it's a chocolate cake
Allen having the time of his life. He got Ronnie fired up, during that song. You could tell.
so happy to hear the tribute to duane and berry. so glad to hear skynard [of course]
How is this video such perfect quality wtf 💕
Just unbelievable. I have no words.
Thanx for posting this vid, ace!
The guys were on 🔥🔥🔥that night ♥️
I’ve always liked multiple guitar bands, especially with guitars that don’t mind trading the spotlight back-and-forth. Just when I think I have a favorite Skynyrd guitarist, the next song / solo / riff changes my mind.
3/26/24 only 49k views. hello future viewers of this amazing video. enjoy
That jump!!…never missed a note…..
"Call me the Breeze" . Fantástica apresentação. Solo de alto nível.
I couldn't agree more😀
Probably my all time favorite R&R song. Thanks JJ Cale.
How rare it probably was to see a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt like the bass player is wearing in 1975 considering there was only one location then that opened in 1971.
Leon Wilkenson had immaculate style haha
Reaktywowana jest też super😊❤
Tight as it gets
Muito obrigado por compartilhar essa obra prima.

Estão incríveis como sempre foram.
Deixaram muita saudade.
It looks be recorded 10 years ago. Amazing the video quality.
thank you man
Two Guitar Line up ..... rare - just Collins and Rossington
Ed King left earlier in the year.
See above
The best live feed I’ve seen of them
Fenomenal!
such great talent, sad Story love y'all guys Rest in peace untill then Fly High Free Bird 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
I saw Rossington Collins Band a year or so after the crash and then they did the empty mike stand with the spotlight on the stage to Freeboard. I felt sad the whole time.
Ed King and Steve Gaines both added their own unique touch to the guitar lineup. Still cool to be able to watch the interplay between Collins and Rossington, and just how they complemented each other. There has never been a band with the amount of killer guitar talent Skynyrd had. God bless Gary, Allen, Ed, and Steve!👌🏻
I beg do differ: The Allman Brothers Band had Duane, Dickey Betts, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, amongst other talented guitar players ;)
Allen and Gary were the ones that paid the dues (many days and nights at the Hell House) and were the Genesis of that unforgettable and unique, one of a kind guitar sound
Amazing job man, looks beautiful!!!
nice wolfie, this is cool
Ronnie was clearly suffering from a bad head cold during this performance and knocked it out of the park.
Head cold or too much coke the night before
i think its cool that Ronnies brother took over vocals after he passed. But now that Gary is gone. Lynyrd Skynyrd is literally a tribute band. I only bring that up because nobody what so ever in this video plays in the band today.
The bass sound (w/buds or phones) is off the charts. Leon could overplay the right way. 😉
This would be a good time to relive one of the best rock band of all time! Tail if you’re going to check them out
Fuck the dead audience! This is a classic, but the people stay like a zombie. This is free bird!!
Lol. I hear ya. That's what I say about the Knebworth concert. Compare that to the Day on the green show where the audience is going absolutely mad. American audience know how to rock. The Brits are just way too subdued. I think they were afraid the Bobbies might bop them on the head if they got too excited
Southern rock at its finest.
This is amazing.
This is the best version of sweet home Alabama and free bird and double trouble and also call me the breeze
❤
7:07... when i hear this, the whiskey goes a pourin.. down the hatch!! 😊
Cheers
Sooo good
Thx
At 4:23 “You know and I know n:**@! I ain’t the one! 😅
he says lady my dude
@@benobscure9542 Yes, he says "lady"
I thought that's what I heard too. 😉🤭🤗
Great show. Thanks for the upload.
Thanks mate,never seems this show❤
Sweet mother of God that was incredible! I always thought the Oakland version of Freebird was the best but the clarity of this version is just phenomenal!!!! Just missing Steve Gaines! 👍❤️👍
Chulada 🇲🇽
On my forth birthday! LMBO !
Ronnie did the vocals with a headcold and a sore throat, I'm told. The ones who were around the band can verify this if they'd like.
Head cold or too much coke?
Wow!!!!!! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
This is the best I’ve heard the band sound. Ever. This was before they really started getting strung out and of course made that fatal drug and alcohol induced decision to board that plane wow what a life !!
Horrible way with words.
@@alishacollins4208 it’s the truth , i’ve listen to them since I was a kid. I’m now 50 years old . Aerosmith had the same airplane they did, and refused to take it an hour before Ronnie insisted even though some of the others didn’t want to . they lived fast , died free. Nothing wrong with that . The world we live in today are all pansy’s that can’t handle reality .
They were tight as hell no doubt. The entire band. The best I've ever seen Billy
they gave up most drugs in fall 76 once gary crashed his torino i thought? or did you see them in concert in 77 and they were doin sum zips back stage?
9:43 ..Biily on the piano! god dam look at him go!!
I'm up and down
