As someone whose favorite color is purple, I was so excited when I saw what color her magic is 🤩. It was also fascinating to see the differences between Wanda and Agatha’s magic, besides the colors of course.

Having seen Doctor Strange two I’m now convinced that dark hold was manipulating Agatha this whole time. So I’m convinced when we see her in the future she’ll actually be in ally rather than an adversary Of Wanda’s. It’s a pretty clever way to bring her into the MCU without outright copying her comic book origins.

Agatha is strong she released all them people meaning she could have mind controlled all of them at once
Everything Wanda do also can be done by agatha… the big difference is agatha need to do the incantation and the spells also need quite a very long time to learn.. if given enough time she can do the same

It’s not matter transmutation she uses dark spells which is why you can hear her use incantations to do so.
She said it was a "convincing illusion" kinda like Loki's magic.

@@nkdubuisson Literally watch the first 10 minutes of episode 8. Agatha: "It takes years of study to create even the most convincing of illusions" referring to the bird illusion she made. This is further demonstrated when the bird is thrown at the rabbit and it immediately turns back into a bug as it gets eaten.

The thing is, Agatha could have gotten away with taking all of Wanda's magic if she hadn't revealed what Wanda could do. Runes have meaning and symbolizm to them. The runes Agatha uses all relate to protection and such. Wanda may or may have not known what a rune was or how it exactly worked so she may think she needs to learn magic better. Granted, Agatha did teach Wanda that in a given space only the Witch who cast the runes could use her magic but she never taught her how the runes exactly worked.
What Agatha said that gave Wanda the ability to win was telling Wanda the prophecy of what the Dark Hold said as well as what she could do. Spontaneous Creation, No need for Incantions, No covens and Chaos Magic as well as being aware of her reality warping powers gave Wanda that idea that she could create whatever she wanted and it would act in the way she intended it for. I believe one or more of the runes Wanda casted may have not been an actual Rune yet her Rune trap by using the hex still worked. If Agatha hadn't ranted to Wanda of all the things Wanda could do then Wanda would have never gotten the idea and realization she can just make whatever she wanted and give it purpose despite everything else.

True. But I also don’t think Wanda would have just gave up her power like that if she didn’t know she would get it back. She might’ve tried something different at least if she never learned the runes.
Or if she didn't tell Wanda about the runes.
@@chloejoyhenry3137 I think the person who made the comment meant the runes, Agatha didn’t really teach Wanda any spells that would’ve allowed her to win the fight.
I mean I wouldn’t have expected Wanda to be able to replicate a spell (which she has never learned because she knows nothing about witchcraft) just by seeing it once but I guess that’s why she lost, because she underestimated Wanda
Also, Kamar Taj ended up being destroyed by Wanda's energy blast but Agatha out here just doing a witch cackle, I know she absorded the blast but we can also see she does feel pain whenever she gets hit by them

She did more than just conjuring monsters, I dont think Wanda can open portals, at least not yet. Her power showcase in the movie was just the basics of what she can do, because if they were to use her strongest abilities and feats, movie would’ve ended in minutes

Well we know that the Darkhold and Wanda’s magic energy are both from the demon Chthon, hence the red aura, and in most fiction souls and auras are a default blue-green color. And that magic in general is directed by intentions
The Darkhold used its demonic aura to twist Agatha’s intentions, mixing her soul with its red chaos energy

I absolutely love the design for her Magic. Ususually in live acton, they never do the glowy hand thing, or they make their Magic never emit any form of energy so it always looks kinda lame (Charmed, Sabrina (The Netflix series), here both Wanda and Agatha look like Gwen Tennyson flying around like cartoon characters (and looking realistic af doing it. Marvel has perfected humans flying on camera), and throwing energy balls like cartoon characters with glowly hands and eyes. Cool af.

I don’t know, I feel like it’s more effective without the auras, like actual invisible forces are at work. When you see Wanda’s red energy it just looks like siren lights and doesn’t feel like magic at all, not to mention Dr Strange’s magic looks like electric sparks
Basically what I’m saying is that it makes the magic feel grounded and anticlimactic when they sensationalize it all with glowing visuals
Fucking perfect casting by Marvel of Kathryn Hahn as Agatha. Seeing her in Wandavision makes me so excited for Coven of Chaos, and what else they're gonna do with the character in the future of the MCU

I like how she has to speak Latin into her aura when she casts her spells. Magic mostly revolves around intention so it’s as if she’s whispering into her aura to fulfill her abstract commands

The thing that I can't wrap my head around is the line "you're the scarlet witch." Was that not obvious when Wanda's magic is scarlet? Why did it take so long to get to that conclusion?
As you can observed in the movies, she was referred to as Wanda not Scarlet Witch, she became Scarlet Witch after getting corrupted by the dark hold. She was not called Scarlet Witch just because her magic is color scarlet.
The color of someone's magic has nothing to do with their power levels, only the type of magic they use. Agatha has probably already seen magic users with red / scarlet magic before and wasn't phased by it
If you mean why Agatha hadn't realized sooner, she didn't even believe the Scarlet Witch existed, she thought it was a myth, so she probably dismissed Wanda's powers being red until she actually saw the way they worked in Wanda's memory.

Well In the comics Wanda started off only knowing of probability spells, which is just another way of saying good-luck bad-luck spells, but other than that she only ever had the basic psychic abilities like flying or telekinesis or aura projection
Agatha did teach her the rest of what she knew of magic. So even though both versions of Wanda are more powerful that both versions of Agatha, the more important part is that Agatha could always outsmart her anytime she wanted
