Yes! Or lowering the hoop - assuming it's adjustable (it looks like there's a knob).
Believe it or not, someone did that in the US version of Taskmaster. And the hoop was in a pool in that one!
happens a lot that nobody goes for the obvious best bet. Makes me wonder if there's more info on the tasks that we don't hear
@@hamsterback Honestly I think it's just the heat of the moment and you don't think of the obvious solution. Hindsight is 20/20.
Nish milking that moment at 5:27, making himself look spectacular, knowing _full well_ what's about to happen. What a showman!

I’m white and even I would say the ball was racist towards me a few times if i spent half an hour trying that
I wouldn’t say it because I believed it, just because it is a less vulgar alternative to swearing and cussing on TV, which would need to be edited out.

I would, but I wasn’t last in PE.
I wasn’t strong, but I had some major leg power for jumps and running.

Ironically, Nish was the only one who didn’t use his hands, instead of just not touching the ball with them. Still, should’ve tilted the damn thing over before kicking it through.

True, but the actual task just said you may not touch the ball with your hands, didn’t say you couldn’t use them. They just titled the video wrong.
Still, kicking it over would’ve been good. Or detaching the hoop and just scooping the ball with it
Nish trying to get the basketball through the hoop is one of my all time favorite Taskmaster moments.
I love how they edited it to make it look like he did it first time and he just went along with it, fully knowing they would eventually have to reveal he didn’t actually do it first time. So funny

I love that Sally tried to circumvent the "no gloves" rule like that. In German, the word for gloves is "Handschuhe", which literally translates to "Hand Shoes". So as a German, it could not have been more obvious that putting shoes on your hands would be counted as gloves :D

Can you genuinely imagine just kicking a basketball over and over again for 28 MINUTES straight?! That's such an INSANE amount of time! 28 MINUTES? That's a REALLY long time! That's like 2 thirds of a Taskmaster episode! How could you stand there and do that for half an hour and never even consider doing something else?! God I love Nish

It's almost like gambling. The more you fail, the more you want to succeed, and seeing attempts where you get _so close_ but not quite there only make you want to do it even more

I bet Alex was a little disappointed that no one thought about pushing the hoop so it fell the ground and than put the ball in.
Not since potato-gate have I been more impressed and let down by a display of athletic ability on this show.

my first thought for every task is always "ask Alex to do it."
my second thought is always "how can i manipulate the playing field?"
in this case, i was like "tip the hoop on its side and then kick the ball in. simple."
My first thought was a combination-tip the hoop over, then ask Alex to roll the ball through.

it's not really doing the same thing over and over. If he hit the ball in the exact same spot with the same velocity, spin, etc. then that would be doing the same thing over and over again. He is doing different chips every single time. I know it's a joke, but still.

That first try kicking it up and in was almost pretty impressive.

Whoever is the writer/editor of this show is a bloody genius. Nish's task was done masterfully here. At first it seems like he first tried it and I was so impressed I actually started clapping and said "Oh wow! It wasn't even a fluke or anything, it was such a clean shot!". But then when Alex said "Wanna see all the other attempts?", my mind was just blown, I got tricked so hard and I absolutely loved it. And the final revelation that it actually took Nish almost half an hour to do it is just a cherry on top. Simply brilliant, I love this show!
Alex is the creator of the show. I'm sure he has some input on editing.
My first thought was to lay the hoop down and push the ball through with the feet.

The hoop was solidly enough in place for a ladder to be leaned against it and support a man on said ladder. Tipping over the hoop would probably be harder than you think.
Have they ever done a compilation of moments when contestants just nail a task super quick? Like Nish's kick here or the potato throw (even though it was DQ'd)?
Edit: Despite having already watched this episode twice in the past I completely forgot about what happens after Nish's kick.
The goal kick in the beginning by bob was a very good attempt

YES!!!! This is the clip I've always wanted to show people who hasn't seen the show. It's a straightforward task, got a D.Q., it's got great audience energy, it's got Alex's analytical sense of humor, and it's got one of the cast singled out for being awful.
Legitimitely thought it was the task from the american version and clicked out of sheer morbid fascination. Glad to see it's just the good version doing the good thing right
I love the boots over her hands, since in my language (Dutch) gloves are called "hand shoes" (handschoenen), hahaha. So actually, putting shoes on your hands can very reasonably be called gloves ;-)

i was SO EXCITED for nish i thought he finally got a big win... and then
my first instinct is to knock the basketball net over and then kick it in.
Anyone who had any sort of a basketball field in their neighborhood as a child knows that there is only one legal way to get that ball through the hoop without hands. That's why I salute Nish on this task.

Lay the hoop stand down resting on the hoop. With your foot, nudge the ball into the hoop. Stand it back up. Ta Da.
Using something else with your hands to get the ball in is technically still using your hands to get the ball in.
Drop the hoop to the ground and kick it through

I would've just tipped the hoop over, either using something to prop the weight up on it's side or just letting the water out, then just kicked the ball into the hoop while it's on the ground.

someone here said to tip the hoop over, and while that's good my first thought would be to ask if i'm allowed to pop the ball with a sharp instrument, squish it flat with my feet, then use a pole of some kind to lift the flattened ball up to the hoop far more easily, perhaps with a second pole, and drop it in.

i can play football very well and tried to score basketball using feet, took a lot of attempt and it didn't go well, honestly i actually impressed when he scored the first try, well until i found out the truth

In Sweden we had 2 people who got it in less than 10-15 seconds. Mainly cuz you could easily tip the hoop and then use your had to push the ball through.
