🇫🇷 Être le fils d’un immense guitar hero et avoir le même prénom que l’un des plus grands musiciens de tous les temps, ça forge forcément une destinée. C’est donc sans surprise que Wolfgang Van Halen se passionne très tôt pour la musique. Devenu pro, il fait ses armes aux côtés de Van Halen, Tremonti et Clint Lowery.
Maintenant bien en place, Wolfgang Van Halen opère en solo sous le pseudo @MammothWVH. Armé de ses dons de multi-instrumentiste et de vocaliste, l’Américain développe un heavy rock bien musclé. Ce style, bien différent de celui de son père, a donné naissance à deux albums : Mammoth WVH (2021) et Mammoth II (2023).
Mammoth WVH a donc tout ce qu’il faut pour se faire un (pré)nom ! La preuve par l’exemple au Hellfest où ce futur mastodonte se produit sur l’une des Mainstages.

🇩🇪 Einen waschechten Guitar Hero zum Vater zu haben und dann auch noch denselben Vornamen wie einer der größten Musiker aller Zeiten zu tragen, geht nicht spurlos an einem vorüber. Kein Wunder also, dass Wolfgang Van Halen sich schon sehr früh für Musik begeisterte. Nachdem er in die Profi-Liga gewechselt war, sammelte er Erfahrungen an der Seite von Van Halen, Tremonti und Clint Lowery.
Inzwischen ist Wolfgang Van Halen ein gestandener Musiker und unter dem Pseudonym Mammoth WVH als Solokünstler unterwegs. Der Multiinstrumentalist und Sänger steht für einen Heavy Rock, der sich gewaschen hat. Dieser Stil, der ihn deutlich von seinem Vater unterscheidet, ist mittlerweile auf zwei Alben verewigt: „Mammoth WVH“ (2021) und „Mammoth II“ (2023).
Mammoth WVH verfügt über alles, was es braucht, um sich einen eigenen Namen zu machen. Den Beweis dafür erbringt er auf dem Hellfest, wo der künftige Big Player eine der Mainstages erobert hat.

Wolfgang's technique is off of the charts.
He's learned so much from his dad, and is still his own musician. I'm so thrilled that he's playing his own stuff, but that he also paid attention to what his dad did well:
musicality, touch, melody, technique, bends, blues, harmony, and beautiful rhythms. He's so good.

I’ve loved this band from the beginning. That 1st album had me hooked, not to mention Wolfy has certainly done his father proud. Just a kick ass rock band, keep rocking guys!!

Seen Mammoth twice now and glad they're hitting the big festivals - Wolfy is amazing in his own right and not living in his old mans shadow!

As great as the guy from Korn who played the exact same bassline on every song? Jon Entwhistle, Geddy Lee, Michael Anthony, etc. that was great.

Saw the stream of this and immediately got tickets to see them in the US. These guys are insane.
That drummer has the toughest job in the band. Keeping that tempo, fills, and time changes isn't easy to do for 40 something minutes. He's like an athlete!

Gotta admit i was surprised at what ive heard from this band not knowing their stuff. I assumed it was more like a steve vai type instrumental type guitar virtuoso kinda stuff. Im impressed and am liking it the more i listen

Dude's a helluva singer. His time with Tremontti is showing in the song writing. He's cleaner than his dad. May have to learn about the band. Sounds great
would love to hear him start working w some people like Thundercat, Billy Strings..idk, Yves Tumor. Branch out creatively. No shade to Tremonti and butt rock ( i dig it), but for someone so young and gifted, it does feel like looking back at a genre instead of breaking new ground. Does that make sense?

I’m not a Thundercat fan, I like Billy Strings, but I don’t find any of those mentioned are doing something I haven’t heard many times before. Genre creating or breaking never happens by trying, it just happens organically.

It’s actually a Gibson G-3 bass. Similar to a Grabber with 3 pickups. I owned one as a teen but it was too heavy and wide for me.

Everyone talks about how “he was in Van Halen of course he had a career boost,” and yes that’s true. A name can go a long way, (just look at Jeff Buckley), but Wolf has really come into his own as an artist. Mammoth is more than just a Van Halen spinoff. If it was just that, he could’ve played that style forever, but that’s not what you’re hearing. Wolf is probably the most talented individual on the planet and happens to be Eddie Van Halen’s son

Solid set, first time I saw Wolfgang’s band
Nothing cutting edge but solid and he doesn’t over use dad’s techniques, no Floyd rose dive bombs, no striped guitars or long solos
He needs to collaborate though, the numbers are low on the hook scale but there is some real potential, I’m impressed by his playing and his poise
