Detailed story of Evgeny Stepanovich Kobytev:
Born in 1922 in Novo-Pokrovka, Kharkiv region, Ukraine, Evgeny Stepanovich Kobytev displayed an early talent for art. He pursued his passion by enrolling in the Kharkiv Art Institute, where he studied under prominent Soviet artists. However, his life took a dramatic turn with the outbreak of World War II in 1941, when Germany launched Operation Barbarossa. Enlisting in the war effort, Kobytev was wounded in September 1941 and taken prisoner. He endured the horrors of captivity, including a year spent in the concentration camp known as Khorol Pit, where tens of thousands of POWs perished. Despite the grim circumstances, Kobytev managed to escape and rejoined the war effort, fighting tirelessly until the fall of Berlin. The war left an indelible mark on Kobytev, as he witnessed the destruction, and loss of comrades, suffered wounds, and endured starvation and violence in concentration camps, HIS FACE SAYS IT ALL!
