I sure hope I get to fly on one of those big beasts some day. I was on a 747 from Heathrow to Montreal back in 1980, but a trip on an A380 has been near the top of my bucket list for a long time now.

I just watched this as I reminisced about being on the same flight 3 years ago this week. And we live in Geelong so the start was fun/relevant for me... although we get on at Nth Geelong. How I miss travel & can’t wait until we can do it again.
I really miss Geelong :( Hopefully australia will open the boarders soon

Thanks for this. We had the same seat as you back in 2012. The food was much better then as well. The crew fed us a lot including mid trip snacks like pizza and ice cream 🍦
I enjoyed the trip report. The seats are looking tired I really hope the refurbished aircraft come back sooner! Oh how I miss Melbourne Airport...

Well done mate, have watched this report a few times now. We had seats in row 36 economy on the Upper Deck in 2019 to L.A & they were fantastic seats. I'm sure that economy seating has now ceased on the Upper Deck with Business & Premium Economy now. Can't wait to fly back in 2023 but have booked a small trip to Honolulu (Jetstar) in August 2022 as we are hopeful that Covid crap from Australian Governments will be a thing of the past. Gee, i really miss the beautiful A380, best plane in the sky!

I had a business class ticket booked on Qantas from Melbourne to Singapore due to leave in April this year. I saved years for it and was counting down the days to departure. Then COVID-19 hit ☹️. Who knows when we can travel again now - seems a long way off. I was hoping to rebook for 2021 but it’s more likely best to wait for 2022. Who would have thought the world would have come to this? I certainly didn’t. Better to be safe than sorry though - but I can’t wait to experience the excitement of travel again! When was this by the way?

I was about to comment that the seat looks wider but I was quite surprised to read it was only 17.5” wide. That’s a tight fit! 😒
LOT nicer than the last time I crossed the ocean in Econ. That was six months ago and my ass is STILL numb 🤨

ive made this exact same flight many times since 2000 on A380s and 747s The upper deck on the 747-400ER was much much better
Of course it was better...the 74 upper deck is all biz class.

Landing at 6L is rather rare. I had 24R.
If you were down stairs and your in the wing you cannot see very much becuse the wing of a380 is tilt
