    The more I do this the more I need to consider frequency graphs in the reviews! Let me know what else I can improve on 😁
    NOTE: in this video all the audio tests are done with 2019 FiiO BTR5 DAC plugged in to either my Mac or iPhone, the difference compared to direct/apple dongle is subtle but especially the bass is fuller

    • @vianhoho19
      @vianhoho19 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Sounds about right. I would recommend expanding your sources because it'll help you experience the different use cases for the people who buy these IEMs. This is "standard" procedures for reviewers in the audiophile space
      Maybe get multiple dongles, maybe get a desktop DAC/amp, or even get a Digital Audio Player / DAP. Pick your poison 🤣
      As for graphs, I don't really expect you to utilize it the way other more specialized reviewers do, but having it as a visual tool will definitely help especially when comparing with other IEMs.

    Great video! I love your use of specific examples. I have only just recently, started trying out IEMs in the $50-60 range and was surprised by how much of an improvement they had over my sub-$25 collection. I thought the difference would be less noticeable to my ears. I think you have finally sold me on saving for the Blessing 3 as my next IEM. I feel it’s more economical than continuing to slowly work my way up the price bracket.

    Thank you for this video and your work, sir. You must be much more knowledgeable than I am in this area. Can you therefore share your opinion based on what you experienced, have read or watched from the sources you trust? I am very much interested in getting audiophile grade IEMs that also comfortable to wear for a long time. So, I was thinking about Shure SE846 PRO Gen 2 (seems very versatile with all the extras you can get for them) or Sennheiser IE 600 or IE 900. Kenneth, can you suggest anything else along these lines? I would greatly appreciate your advice, and I am sure many people who watch your videos would too.

      I think the Blessing 3 will need a proper DAC/Amp. Since you're constantly on the move. I recommend something like the Fiio BTR 5, Qudelix 5K, TimeEar BTE-222, or a simple 7Hz 71.

    Finally the B3 video is finally out 🎉 been waiting for a while
    I actually have a fairly different impression with the Blessing 3. While I applaud its amazing midrange performance, which was a clear step up from the Blessing 2, the way they tuned the bass, which is closer to that of the B2 Dusk, makes the overall presentation somewhat thin to my ears. You'd think that having 2 DDs would greatly benefit it in the bass department, but it's simply not the case here. Overall, I might still recommend the old Blessing 2 because for all its pitfalls, the bass on those still just hits nicer to my ears than the B3.
    For B3 alternatives, two names come to mind: the Thieaudio Hype 2, which I have tried and found it to have the exact opposite issue of the B3 i.e. Much nicer bass but at the cost of not-so-clear mids, as well as the Aful Performer 8, which I have yet to try. The Hype 2 is $20 less than the B3 while the Performer 8 is $60 more than the B3
    Looking forward to you getting progressively more expensive IEMs in the future. Like I said before, this is a massive rabbit hole 🤭

    • @tidleso5637
      @tidleso5637 Před 8 měsíci

      B3 definitely has a meager bass tuning.
      But the quality is snappier/better.
      If you have the option to EQ... They are great.
      Give 50Hz 1.8db/q0.8 ; 280Hz 2db/q0.6 ; 360Hz -0.5db/q1... And they easily outperform the Hype 2s bass quality while giving the same quantity.
      I have both... And the hype 2 really lacks technically in comparison. In the heights too.
      I tried them for a few weeks now. But I don't get the same goosebumps and they are gonna be send back. The additional BAs in the B3s do it better.
      On stock settings though I must agree the hype 2 is just better tuned.

      Like you said before trying out the others (predecessors, competition) gives an invaluable insight as to how this one performs, and it's sad that I haven't been able to go in-store and try out the IEMs one by one (I imagine it's gonna take a whole day or even more!)
      But one thing for sure is, I'm always eager to keep on exploring and man isn't it exciting! 🤣

      I would personally strategize by creating a small playlist beforehand so that you don't waste your time rummaging through your library trying to find songs that you want to listen to.
      I would also limit myself to 2-3 songs per IEM or Headphone so I don't waste too much time and be able to try as much stuff as I can.

    I just went go cheap on TWS but good sound or function enough for outside usage, at home or long trip I use IEM.
    TWS is quite "disposable" once the battery is done. the reason i only stick 50$ below TWS. anything above that your just wasting money in my opinion.

    The 7Hz Timeless has been my 'endgame' for a few months now and I've heard people say the S12 is a cheaper Timeless. I love the Timeless sound signature and I'm not sure if the Blessing 3 can do everything the Timeless can and more/better. I'd love to see a more detailed comparison between the S12/Timeless and the Blessing 3 to understand if the B3 is really worth the extra money if the 'gains' upgrading from S12/Timeless is not that significant.

    • @namedkenn
      @namedkenn  Před 8 měsíci +2

      The S12 is indeed a cheaper Timeless, but it is also quite a different sound. I think most of what I say in regards to planar (S12) will apply to Timeless as well, especially in terms of soundstaging where the S12 is already better than Timeless, but hey let me compare the 2 first and see 😁

    • @vianhoho19
      @vianhoho19 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Allow me to weigh in a little bit. I've tried the S12, S12 Pro, Timeless, and Timeless AE in addition to the B3
      If we're comparing OG to OG, I would lean towards the Timeless because the OG S12 is a more exaggerated Timeless in its sound signature which lands it into "acquired taste" region, if that makes sense
      If we're comparing their respective iterations, then the differences shrink by quite a bit. The S12 Pro and the Timeless AE are very close to identical signature-wise with the main difference being their inherent technical performance; the Timeless AE is simply more detailed than the S12 Pro.
      If we compare those to the B3, the details will be on par overall but you'll experience very different timbre characteristics between them; planar timbre can sound metallic and at times just unnatural, while the B3's hybrid timbre is more natural and is a massive improvement over the B2 whose timbre has been a massive point of contention within the community
      Hope this helps

      I have the blessing 3s and the sundara. The sundaras to me sound very balanced and smooth all around. There isn't much bass quantity, but impressive part of the bass is definitely the timbre and speed. Mids sounds natural, and treble is smooth. On the other hand, I find the blessing 3s very analytical. There is a little more bass quantity. Mids sound neutral to me, but the highs are a little sparkly. Instrument separation is also way better on the blessing 3s. If I had to choose one, I would go with the blessing 3s.

    I don't know how the Blessing 3 is, but I was dissapointed by my Blessing 2 Dusk. The audio quality doesn't reflect the price. The BA timbre is very noticeable, metallic sounding and grainy. The soundstage is very narrow for the price and the treble extension is quite lacking.
    KATO, Timeless, OH10, and Orchestra Lite are all better and a lot cheaper than the hyped Dusk.

    • @vianhoho19
      @vianhoho19 Před 8 měsíci +1

      That's just the inherent weak point of the Blessing 2 Dusk in particular and it seems like you're simply not a fan of that which is perfectly understandable.
      I will, however, caution you with your selection of alternatives because having tried all of them, the only one I would consider over the B2 would be the Timeless.
      KATO is incredibly boring in comparison due to its steep treble drop off, OH10 is more engaging at the severe cost of details, and the Orchestra Lite lacks in bass quality due to it being an all BA setup.

    • @Tealc2323
      @Tealc2323 Před 8 měsíci

      @@vianhoho19 I learned my lesson the hard way, but I don't regret it. It's a journey and I love the experience.
      Timeless was my favorite until I tried the OH10. My only problem with Timeless was the lack of impact of the bass being planar and the slightly congested midrange/vocals.
      I had to order OH10 3 times because the first 2 units lacked bass and nothing like what was described by other users.
      OH10 became my favorite with the Oratory1990 EQ. The stock tuning is quite bad with the overly boosted high-mids and subdued mids.
      It's not perfect as it lacks a bit of warmthness and the tonality is on the cold side. EQ helps with this, but I can't find a proper balance to fix it. +1dB at 450Hz Q1 helps, but anything more and starts to sound bloated or overly warm on some songs. (maybe a crossover issue)
      OH10 bass is on par with Dusk. Sometimes slightly worse and sometimes better. It has the widest and tallest soundstage, even more than KATO. Details are on par with Dusk and has a better treble extension. Stereo separation is not as good as Dusk, but there is a smoothness and refinment in the sound that is very pleasant to my ear. I just love it!
      If you still have OH10, give Oratory EQ a try.
      Right now I'm testing Sennheiser IE 200 and has a great tuning for the price, but the cable has horrible microphonics and is expensive to replace. I don't think I'll be keeping it.

      @vianhoho19 Před 8 měsíci

      While I agree that better source will greatly affect the quality of the music you hear, you're literally shooting yourself in the foot by limiting yourself in that manner.
      I've tried the Blessing 3 with a myriad of dongles and my personal NW-A55 Walkman. The Blessing 3 is wonderful with pretty much all of them.
      I will agree that running it *BALANCED* will help significantly, but again, you don't really need a full on DAP just to "fully experience" these. A 4.4mm output of a dongle is usually more than plenty

      Good for you for being able to afford a DX220; the rest of us will probably never be able to. Most of us have to save up for months just to get these IEMs; I'd say let them use whatever they want with them.
      I would tend to agree about better sources, but if people are happy with the sources they have, what right do we have in saying that they *MUST* use something more expensive just to be able to squeeze another 2% of an IEM's performance, Which is exactly what you're trying to do here?

    • @yevheniibatiievskyi
      @yevheniibatiievskyi Před 8 měsíci

      @@vianhoho19 I'm totally agree with you, that people may use any IEM or headphones with any source. Only my point is that, from my experience - if I buy IEMs that costs more than $250 I just have to buy a proper source for full experience and NOT 2% of potential, but sometimes 50-80% of its potential (like it was with my Blessing 2 after I compared them on iBasso DX220 - it was just like - "wow, that is how they really can sound"). It's like bying a sport car and drive it 40 miles per hour all the time.

      I can tell you exactly why you felt that way: *CONTEXT*
      As someone who is a beginner in the wired IEM space, Ken has not tried nearly enough IEMs to be able to provide context in terms of sound quality, particularly against other IEMs within the same price range. As of now, he can only describe the upgrade in sound quality compared to the limited lower price IEMs that he has listened to i.e. Letshuoer S12 and Truthear Hexa; he has yet to try any other IEMs around the B3's price range apart from the Blessing 2 e.g. Thieaudio Hype 2 or Aful Performer 8
      Had he tried those beforehand, he would be able to provide a better comparison and therefore context.
      Honestly, cut the guy just a little bit of slack lol; as I said before, he's new to this space and he's only going to get better from here on out 👍🏻
