    Since I can't find a single review of this online anywhere, I guess I'll post the first.
    Switch out your seals first. No one told me this, but if your fork is leaking any oil, switch out the seals before anything else. Might just fix your issue. Secondly, if you are still leaking oil or just want to reduce the amount of dirt entering your fork from any scratches or just for aesthetic purposes, this product is way better than any nail polish/varnish. Purchasing this product was my last ditch effort to save my severely damaged fork. I would pay double for this epoxy. Worth it's weight in gold. I do recommend purchasing some 1500 grit emery paper rather than what this comes with (I think its 1000 grit). I was unable to get it as smooth as I wanted with the included emery paper. Plan on at least 4 hours to get a high quality finish after letting the epoxy cure. Overall, great product. No complaints.

      Thanks Darrian for your feedback, you said it all. (FYI, it's 1200 grit ;-))

    Why do the instructions say to mix a relatively large volume of resin and hardner for such small scratch repairs? Can you mix a smaller amount as long as the ratio matches? Also, when sanding, does that not remove the black colour around the resin? Should i also be buying 2000 grit wet and dry paper as recommended by another review? I have a small repair that i need to do on some 3 week old forks, needless to say, I'm gutted!

    Are you planning to introduce resin in Kaschim color ?

    • @sendhit
      @sendhit  Před 4 měsíci

      Not for the moment, it is very difficult to obtain a quality result with the gold color because it is much less opaque than black and it is very difficult to hide the aluminum scratch.

    Although it made the surface completly smooth, it came out see through which made me very disappointed as it was the main reason I went with this kit. I followed this video to the teeth and I was careful to measure the mixture correctly and stir it for 5 mintutes in both directions. So my scratch is still completly visible... .
    I'm so sad now :(

      Hi Elo,
      I'm sorry about that. The priority of Scratch Cover is to make the stanchion smooth again to prolong the operation of the fork.
      But unfortunately the aesthetic result is more random, it will largely depend on the depth of the scratches: the deeper a scratch, the easier it is to fill it with resin, the more the scratch is on the surface, the more difficult it will be to conceal it because the black coating is extremely thin. In most cases, Scratch Cover will not make your stanchion like brand new.

      Why not just file the scratch a bit deeper first with the angled part of the file to create a channel to hold the resin? Then file any bur down after* that?

    I just got a fork used in need of scratch repair. Seems because of the scratch, it has created some wear closer to the seal of the stanchion. Can this be used to repair that wear as well? It seems quite big

    Has anyone tried this on a motorcycle fork by any chance?
    It seems to me that bicycle and motorcycle forks work in exactly the same fashion these days...
    I have a big scratch that was apparently made by pliers on one of my tubes, this was totally invisible when I bought the bike (it's hidden inside the bottom part of the fork)... Since I can't find a second-hand fork of the right size and model in my country, I'm considering this solution. At least as something temporary for a few thousand kilometers. I suspect it'll be more resistant than a nail polish repair anyway!

    • @sendhit
      @sendhit  Před 2 lety +1

      I think it could definitively work, some riders have tried and they seemed satisfied with the result. The Epoxy resin is very strong and should endure the mecanical stresses of a motorcycle.

    Can I pour 1ml of resin and 0.25 or hardner to safe it for later ?

    • @sendhit
      @sendhit  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Marcin,
      You have to strictly respect the ratio so 1 ml of resin and 0,5 ml of hardener. Otherwise the chemical reaction will not take. As soon as you mix the 2 liquids, you have to use the resin soon. You cannot save it for late.
      Best regards,
