My last job involved a LOT of driving - I practically wore out their Greatest Hits CD in that time. This and Whiskey in the Jar are my two absolute favorites! It's my great loss to have missed out on this fantastic band for so many years.
Here is my story----Happy Birthday to Phil Lynott who was the leader of the most iconic band in history. I cannot express how much the music of Thin Lizzy meant to me and just how lucky I was to of seen them play several times and even sitting down with him and Scott Gorham at the High Roller club in Memphis but unfortunately if you asked me what we talking about I am afraid I could not tell you due to his very thick Irish accent . I listened to Live and Dangerous more times than most people wear shoes. I remember everyone piling in my car headed to one of his shows in Memphis leaving from this house Im in now and listening to ''Southbound'' and singing it along the way.I remember one show my gf and I had no tickets but I wanted to go to the Coliseum anyway and as we drove around backstage to listen or catch a glimpse 2 girls were coming out from the gates and asked my gf if we wanted their BACKSTAGE PASSES Are you kidding!! Eddie Money was exiting Stage Right as we entered and Thin Lizzy was next, the stars truly lined up for me that night.. The photos I took of them are really special to me and all of you that like and share them makes me happy and proud. Although he is no longer with us, the words I often say ring so true with him,I wish I could see him play just one more time.
We are still out here on the trail my friend, some lost, others riding hard. Miss my buddies. Horse is well fed and I got guns on my hips. Never forgotten till the last breath.
Was sitting in a pub near Cork when Lizzy played their last tour in the city hall. Told my buddies I was heading to the show and they all got too drunk to go. I said I'll catch them the next time.
Definitely underrated. You request a Thin Lizzy song on the radio (don't specify which) and I'd bet about 99 times out of 100 it would either be The Boys Are Back In Town or Jailbreak because none of their other songs get any play time. I would say in no particular order my favorite 3 Thin Lizzy songs are this one, Whisky in The Jar, and Boys Are Back In Town.
