When Phil was asked how he felt about being Black and Irish he said "Like a pint of Guinness". My Man. God Rest your sweet soul Phil. Next time ☺ 💔💗❤
Wow!!...that may just be the best quote ive ever heard in my life😮😅🤘
I LOVE THAT!!! And I love Guinness!!!
Gary… so good
Awesome reply from an awesome guy.
Phil was a Black Irishman.what a fight to get to the stage! he's incredible, makes my Irish heart so proud!
My dad was 59 when he died, 59. I feel betrayed, I feel like I'm being stood up by god himself. Oh daddy, I'm crying writing this, knowing I'll never hear your voice again or see your cheeky smile. I love you so, so much and my heart has been torn apart. You sent me this beautiful piece of art just months ago and I didn't even bother to react to your mail. Well, here I am now. I love it, daddy. To all of you out there, don't take your parents for granted or anybody for that matter, today they might be fine but they could be gone in a day with no warning.
Hello Jolene, how are things going with you?
@@James-mn6jo she's dead too
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God and believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you; for I go now to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. And you know the way to where I am going. I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you His Kingdom.”

Heard this on the radio at work and went straight to the record shop next door and bought it. 1972.
I wish I was born a lot earlier to have the privilege of going to a record shop to buy a vinyl…born 1979.. Christmas Eve I made the 70s by a week… and proud
Vinyl Records are actually making a comeback.
Fifty years old and still sounds absolutely amazing. First class musicians. RIP Phil.
In 1972 the great band 'Tweed' played support to this up coming band in Dreamland in Athy Co. Kildare. Myself and and another Tweed fan sat behind their PA that night as they rocked Athy. Thin Lizzy forever...👏👏🎶🎶
Yes great musicians and Phil Lynott, how could you go wrong? Seriously I am more than old enough to remember when this song came out. Who knew that it would be the inspiration for a whole, great genre of music? You know Celtic Punk/Rock.
Me encanta esta cancion desde los sños 60s la he escuchado toda mi vida ❤
I’m 45, love Thin Lizzy and introduced it to my boys (9 & 6), Phil’s genius will live on.

By far the best version of the 'whisky in the jar' I've heard - Thin Lizzy
I've heard no less than
50 versions of this song and that one metal band is the only group to disrespect it by playing someone's else's version and making the stupidest video in the world to go along with it. Enough about those sellouts... This has the raddest guitar solo.
@@joeschmoe511 If You mean Metallica....You're right
Yeah if they had played it in full without the edit on the solo.
Your right, far better than Metallicas version
👍👍👍❤️
Love how proud Phil Lynott was of being Irish and how Irish people are so proud of him ❤️ 😊🎉🩵🪷🌟💚🦋⭐️
Phil , you are never forgotten, your songs bring you back. You are the Rocker!
Irelands finest rock group. Playing a kick ass intro for a traditional irish song what talent.

YES,FOR SHURE!!
Phil is definitely up in Heaven, because he rocked the Hell right out of himself. Tragic ending to a young life. Be wise kids, and just say no to drugs. No bullshit.
Was privileged to dance at Kellys, Porttush with Thin Lizzy on stage. Early 70's. At Coleraine High School, We Loved them. Best of the Best.
Just an amazingly beautiful song. That guitar intro is unbelievable and Phills voice is incredible as always.
Well said man. Totally agree
Classics never die ...just get better with the passing of time

Phil Lynott, one of the greats, sadly missed. They don't make music like this anymore.

I first heard this in a boutique in Walsall in 1973 and asked the assistant who they were. She said Thin Lizzy... Loved them ever since.
Good thing she didn't say Metallica!
Metallica on 1973 i dont think so buddy
You were on Phil Lynott's home turf he was born just down the road in West Bromwich.

One for the Generations
It was my dad that played this on vinyl in 1987, usually on a Sunday whilst we were all helping with the roast, back when we had an old JVC stereo with a tape deck and a turntable
Absolutely F***king brilliant, nothing can bring back those times
Legendary! My Dad listened to this inn his 40s and now I do in my 20s 😎😎😎 "sugoi!!! 💯"
Absolutely fantastic, wow a memory jerker
"Whiskey in The Jar" is an old Irish traditional folk song . Even Peter, Paul, And Mary recorded a version of it. .
So, it is fitting that the Irish band, Thin Lizzy also recorded it
Yep
Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead also recorded and performed it. His background was folk and bluegrass. It's a wonderful version.
Music like this will never die - shame so many of the musicians from that period are no longer with us.
I saw Phil play live in 1983. That was a long time ago but still feels like yesterday. Great memories.
Lynott was a legend. Such stage presence.
How can you not LOVE this song and this band..
50 years later and this song is still so incredible and it's importance on Rock can not be disputed. Bands like this have influenced sooooooo many modern musicians.
Amazing , considering how old this Irish traditional song actually is!

They are not really underrated! Great fantastic band and really anyone with some music sense knows and acknowledge this!

Jailbreak was the 2nd vinyl I ever bought, Caught in the Act was the first!
The day my stepfather handed down his vinyl collection to me was the day I fell in love with Thin Lizzy. Hidden in the crates of wax was a poster of Phil donning a Sid Vicious button. I grew up on punk rock in the 80's and didn't really care for the Pistols at the time, but when I saw that poster, I knew I had to listen to the Thin Lizzy wax right away and I'm glad I did. Hell! It even gave me an appreciation for the Pistols. Wish I could thank my stepfather again. Rip Michael Louis.
That was just beautiful to read.

The lyrics tell the story of a highwayman in the southern mountains of Ireland who robs a military government official to get his girlfriend Molly’s approval after she promises to love him forever. Unfortunately, she betrays him and he is thrown in jail. There are many versions of the song and the locations change between Cork, Kerry, Kilmoganny (village), and Sligo Town, and in America the locations can be the Appalachians, Massachusetts, or the Ozarks. The official that is robbed is either a Captain or Colonel named Farrell or Pepper. Among other names, the girlfriend can be Emzy, Ginny, Jenny, or Molly. extract from: REVEALED: THE HIDDEN MEANING BEHIND THE LYRICS OF 501 CLASSIC and POPULAR SONGS.
