    Major correction: Midnight Club actually didn't (or might not) disbanded coz first of all, there's no clear evidence of when the accident actually happened hence some of JDM tuner guys or enthusiast like us known this story as almost like a myth. Even the Japanese cops have no record of the date of the specific accident that happened between the Bozosoku and Midnight Club members. So anyways, they've rather went silent for a long time until recently they've returned as the same midnight club but with a different goals in mind and that is to never return into street racing ever again but instead they'll only race on track days like time attacks, circuit racing and etc (any kinds of pro racing). But the principle rule of joining the club is still the same (no wonder why only few people are able to join the club because they aren't like any other wannabe car guys).

    • @oni5909
      @oni5909 Před rokem +9

      yeah i was gonna say they did it as a cover up there is no record of the accident, it was like all just a clear way to get back under the radar before deciding to expose themselves on the track

    • @UguisuAnko12

      @@oni5909 true!!! They've just recently revealed themselves on track racing and I guess, occasional meets but still, searching them around the cities of Japan is still hard to find. You barely encounter a member of it due to their secret codes. Even tho one of the former members of the club (one of them is the current CEO of the GT-R and NISMO if I'm not mistaken and that person used the R32 Skyline GT-R before) still deny of their affiliation of the club even tho their own cars are already known world-wide. Again, I'm not condoning any types of explicit street racing (unless it's a very closed course like mountain passes), you shouldn't do it unless you wanna risk your driver's license getting revoked.

    It's actually really sad. No one knows who the leader of Midnight Club was but he owned the fastest car in the entire club and it was nicknamed "Blackbird" after the United States SR71 Blackbird. The story I've always heard was that the leader witnessed the head on collisions and was never the same again. I remember long ago seeing photos that claimed it was Blackbird for sale. For the leader of Midnight Club it wasn't just about the fact that they broke their highest rule, it was also that he watched some of his dearest friends die. I quit street racing for the same reason. My best friend of 23 years died on impact with a wrong way driver during a night race on the interstate.

  • @slightlyinsaneraf
    @slightlyinsaneraf Před rokem +3

    That story after a lot of researching, seems to be fake. A similar crash happened many years before the club disband, but it didn't disband the club. But regardless, if crash like that happened, there should news or police reports of it, and there isn't.
    They also still exist as a track racing team.
    There is speculation that the crash in the late 90s early 2000s was a way to get off the scene, as at that time, cars were getting way easier to push big power. Together with police cracking down on these racers, it looks like it was an easy way out. There is a dude on youtube, he explained it very well

    The crash rumor never had any solid proof, there are zero news articles from around that time that talk about a crash or deaths of drivers and no members or people who know members have ever talked about a crash being the cause.
    The main cause was apparently the leader being done for fraud (he would tell people he could import cars like porsche and Lamborghini and then just steal peoples money) and the other members not being very happy with the whole situation meant the group basically disbanded overnight with a few OG members still keeping it alive through official racing like time attack.

    Team midnight, as far as I understand, comprised of unofficial test drivers for tuning companies who would push vehicles to the limits on the street to test and promote parts as it was easier and faster than testing on tracks, plus more marketable to the, at the time, mostly underground Japanese tuning and street racing scene. The rules about endangering the public were a result of the (albeit loose) company affiliation. They disbanded because the tuning scene went legit and tuning companies got big enough to test on tracks. **THIS IS JUST MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE SITUATION AS A DENIZEN OF THE INTERNET CAR SCENE**

    I think it’s dumb that they promote track racing Only now they started as gangsters. Had multiple games made about them and then went oh no we got in a crash. Well it’s time to give up. I guess they got their inspiration from Mercedes.

      I did watch that video im guessing you did as well you missed my point. The name midnight still should mean something other than bow down and obey the rules. I understand somebody died. I understand the conflict that was going but the midnight club should be synonymous with safe street racing, which is still criminal activity, but it’s not drugs it’s not murder it’s not grape It’s following a passion however or wherever you can and unlike them and the rest of the world, the nearest track to me is +350 miles away.

      @@oler777 the code just proves my point tbh, even with it there are multiple reports of crashes involving them. Also, just because it didnt happen yet, doesnt mean it never will
      They arent "sell outs", they just realised how, to truly follow their code of not endangering public property and lifes, they needed to switch things around (besides, its much harder to flee the cops now and its much better to race clean than to risk your life [not only physical])

    Seems to organized. Most likely the government ran the club to mitigate crime to a specific area and allow specific people who are usually high risk for damage. This way they can manage the crime and ensure safety under the guise of anonymity and exclusivity
