I believe EV was what was needed for the punch. I sold off the petrol powered Punch within a year of buying it. Just because of the petrol engine. It was weak and very thirsty. But the vehicle was otherwise superb. Very quite cabin. Good and comfortable seats. Very well sorted out suspensuin set up. Very capable handling and road holding. The chasis was very competent and gives very good confidence on hilly roads. No thuds Or klunks while going over bad roads/no roads. And the Punch looks just so good and appealing. But the storage space was as much a joke as in a mahindra XUV 300. With the EV version, the Punch definetly is a superb package if one is not travelling long distances with too many people on board. Punch can accomodate 3 people and their stuff for travelling. Anymore, and you will have a hard time loading your full lugggage.

When doing real world range test, please pack the car with people and luggage if possible.. The Extreme levels give a good indication about the range.. just a driver and a cameraman sitting will not give real range considering its a family car.. One hour packed car drive is enough to give an idea about the range..

The best case if you're keeping environment in mind is to keep using the car you have for as long as you can. Switching from an active car is not worth the money, as well as for the environment. In my opinion, 7 years is good, but it might easily last for 5 more years. Resale value might take a hit but you would've saved a lot more in comparison. I've got nexon ev, it's 1 lakh km old now. But I've kept my Honda brio as well.

I think the motor is the same. The bigger battery enables the motor to generate more power (higher V or A or both going to the motor). You're gonna see this a lot in EVs going forward where motors will be the same but bigger battery version will have more power. If they do 82/35 version, they will software limit the motor and nothing else so why not let the user have the power.

Humm using tiago ev mr xt 10729km it's better compare to ice engine
    But many drawbacks
1.range is low true range 60-70% claimed range proper range need to be near ice one but that depend on battery energy density
    2. No proper charger network even no single app like google map to locate charger and use it for every company need separate app .
    3. No .Spare and service outside company network no one wanna touch ev for even minor work .Depends completely on company
    4. ev electronic and electrical spare parts are sensitive slight problem cause vehicle to stop working technology for real bad road weather conditions need robust parts
    5. Price is more or almost double than ice one

A request to Autocar and other auto journos, please start using Metric units for power(kW), it never made any sense to keep using hp, an archaic unit, whereas every other unit is measured in metric, it especially doesn't make sense for EVs, since battery capacity, charging rate are already in kWh and kW. For 2 wheelers, the use of kW for EVs have already become mainstream, and ozzies already use kW for all kinds of cars(including ICE), so please move forward and start using kW, you can always put the HP figure on screen for backward compatibility.

Not in the recent years. May take 5-8 years from now.
      Atleast in two wheeler segment
Already we have Chandigarh govt banning diesel cars comppletly.
And also made it tougher to register petrol two wheelers.
India is going the same way as china.
But in a slower pace. It is evident fossil fuels will face a ban in the near future..
How fast depends upon the govt policies
From the treatment ev is getting..I could foresee it may happen in 5-8 years.

To ban all ICE vehicles or a specific segment u need proper replacement first, rn in India EVs are no way near replacing ICEs. Basic infrastructure like charging station are not there yet, a/c to recent consumer reports most Indian EVs owners are using home charger combined that info with range of most popular EVs in India and u can say ppl are using EVs for city ride, so most ppl buying EVs as secondary vehicles like scooters for local runs, but still if u wanna do long road trips u need ICE 2Ws or 4Ws.
To replace ICE vehicles we need more, better and reliable charging infrastructure, more economically affordable vehicles for faster adoption and open repair programmers without these u'll never see EVs as primary vehicles or replacement of ICEs, atleast in India.

I canceled my booking after test driving punch.ev, the lag in the dial knob is too much that I got embarrassed in traffic taking out the car from parked onto the road, it hanged and I had to restart car twice. 👎
