I would like to see a whole day in the classroom with everyone interacting with each other. I teach prek myself and I enjoy to learn by watching a full classroom.
For legal/privacy reasons most schools and teachers don’t allow footage of the students.
These are cute activities and great ideas! I'm so interested in the elephant bread. I plan on becoming an elementary teacher in the future but for now, I'm just a substitute at a childcare centre.

I just applied to be a second grade teacher, but I got an email for an interview for a Pre-k position. I am hesitant to jump into the pre-k world. That is why I am here watching your video lol Any advice or guidance if I decide to go that route??
This is a tad late but I would say go for it! These kiddos are little sponges and so much fun!

Hopefully this isn’t rude.. but what’s is you’re average yearly salary?
Our county starts teachers at 42K and we progress from there. Since I’m in an elementary school I get paid the same salary as other grade level teachers!
Do you have a set curriculum you must follow? I’m an academic coach and looks for ways to help my PreK teachers. We must follow The Creative Curriculum and use Teaching Strategies GOLD for assessments and documentation.
Yes I do! We use TSG as well! We recently received a new curriculum this year ( McGraw Hill) and I do use it as a resource. We are not required to use it but instead to teach to the standards. It has some great ideas but still needs that bit of teacher creativity!

superheroes and/or supervillains are quite violent of a preschool topic
Not sure if anyone commented and I am unsure how to fix it but if I print with adobe acrobat the black mark goes away but if I print with the macbook software it prints the black mark. Not helpful lol but thought I would add!

Quick question: did you have to take a teachers licensing exam to teach preschool? I’m currently studying human learning and development in the college of education at my university & I’m working on earning an Illinois early childhood level 5 certificate (which is just a certification that shows that I have class experience and supervised fieldwork experience working with children aged 1-7). I’ve heard that some people didn’t need a teachers license while others did.
It depends on where you live and the school. I work at an individual school (as opposed to a branch school) in Pa and I didn’t need anything. October will be 3 years since I started teaching preschool/PreK

Do you take the students to the bathroom or do you have a helper who takes care of that?
We all take turns but the paraprofessionals take the lead with bathroom.
Can you share the letter that you send home for show and tell
For parents wanting to help prep kiddos for pre-k what do you suggest? I see all of these books for pre-k age at places like Target. Are those good for prep or are those for while they are in school? Thank you!
Those are good if your kid is willing to sit and do it! All kids learn differently, my personal children LOVE workbooks 😆
I’d recommend learning through play moths most. Focus on your kids name a lot! Make sure they can recognize it, practice spelling it orally and then building it with magnets. If they are interested you can begin writing it with them too! At this age it’s all about exposure because they are little sponges!

I am a preschool teacher. We are not allowed to anything adult lead. Im so bored with the activities because i can never really do anything I want to do. It has to be all child lead / loose parts.
I can imagine how boring that would get...are you able to make games and have them accessible so that if a child goes to explore the new bin then you can use it?
Are you not required to wear masks at school?
We do wear masks at school. During my videos I take it off because I’m the only one in the room :)

How many hours do you work a day? And is it hard/ competitive to get a job as a preschool teacher!? This is something I’m considering to do but still not sure!
I work a full 8 hour day. Getting hired is the same as all other grades.
What is the big note pad you are using for your letters called?
Anchor Chart Paper :) They have it on Amazon as well.
My son will start pre-k next week and he is 3 and I am nervous he is going to panic and have an anxiety attack. He is like that with new people and he will need to take the bus so nervous. I am scared really since he is not really advanced in speaking. He does more hand gestures then speaking and I’m scared that he will be scared. How do you normally deal with first day of school with little ones
I know it is so hard for you to put your little one on a bus and watch them drive away! The best thing for him to expand his language is to be in a preschool setting! We have many kiddos who come in nervous and scared but once they understand the schedule and begin to feel the love (and fun) they LOVE school! You got this!

I tried dying some rice for my sensory bin, but it stained the children’s hands. What am I doing wrong?
Oh no! I was honestly worried about that myself. We didn’t use a lot of dye and we let it dry outside...I’m making a video soon about sensory bin fillers so hopefully that will help you!

I spend some money on my classroom but we also get a small budget each year to spend as well.
Is your major Early Childhood Education?
My major is actually Elementary Education but I added Birth to 4 certification to my teaching certificate!

you're not going in alphabetical order?!
Our curriculum does not teach the letters in ABC order. I believe they are taught based on research of which letters are easiest for children to say verbally or recognize.
Can you do this with just an Associate's degree? I'm also in Florida
I want to become a prek teacher but the salary is equivalent to a faster food worker....how do you survive?
