This is the video i needed to see been to so many places to get my hair cut and they always messed it up despite the fact me showing pictures!! . Hopefully i can find a place that can trim my hair the way i want it to be. Update: found an expensive place to do exactly what i wanted and I’m happy with the result

It's a struggle... Finding a stylist that cuts men's hair. Most are barbers (fades/short hairstyles) or women's hair stylists near me. I've been searching, looking at reviews, websites, instagram for a long time.

Wish I had watched this video a couple of months ago! I was struggling with this for years until I finally worked up the courage to book an appointment somewhere. I didn't have a bad experience before I was just anxious because I had let it go for so long.
The guy who cut my hair was great though and I'm glad I went.
There can be many reasons a person is afraid like ocd, anxiety sensory issues or just a bad past experience.
I was doing that Extreme Metalhead look for years not just because I loved having long hair - I really did - but a big part of it was afraid of getting a trim that could go wrong. Going to Supercuts was the problem though. But watching your videos really helped me decide to grow it back out again after chopping it all off a few years ago.
Now I know what layers are and how to get a proper flow and just nice look in general.

Hey Stephen 👋, I've adapted to just trimming my own hair. For what little I would get cut off at salon it just wasn't worth paying for haircuts anymore. I had a bad service experience with hair relaxer 5 years ago and that had changed my feelings about going back to salons ever since. I tried several times and had another bad experience in 2020 at a typical walk in salon with what was supposed to be just small trim around my nape. Therefore, I feel better just doing it myself.
I developed fear of getting my hair being cut because of my mother... I had long hair ever since I was small. But one day my mother took me to hairstylist, and just told them to cut it above shoulders. I was 12 yo that time. Literally from hair that went almost to my hip I had to have hair above the shoulders. Ever since then I'm scared of anything else than trim. I found one hairstylist I trust, but I still wasn't able to do the next step. I hope I will get some courage to leave the shadow of the past behind me soon.
I went in to get a cut yesterday and my stylist butchered my hair. It was long and getting kind of frizzy from the humidity and like an idiot I was I told her I was having problems with curls and she cut all my hair back into being short. I'm so depressed about it I don't really trust anyone with my hair anymore. Now I'll have to regrow it back out; I'm very subconscious about my hair. Don't make the same mistakes I did.

So, months and months back, I was still growing my hair for undercut top knot, and I couldn't find a good barber/stylist. I would say just the sides and to not touch the top. The top would always get trimmed. Now, I finally found a good barber and she knows what's she doing. No more problems like before thankfully.

yes. everytime i get a trim my barber fucks it up. they eithger fuck up the hair or the beard sometimes both. Its so hard to find a haircut best suited for me
I had some traumatic experiences in the past but they were minor where the barber chopped off more length than i wanted. What i learned is the best is to cut your own hair with the salon guy 's tutorials

I got that fear where i show a photo of the type of style id like but the stylist says i dont have enought/that type of hair for what i want. Then they suggest something and i just say ok cause i assume they know best

I have surprisingly not had many problems with hairdressers who have absolutely ruined my hair (although I cried before because of messed up bangs), BUT it happened to me more than once that I picked out an extra good (expensive) hairdresser and then had the problem that I came with an exact idea and photos and the hairdresser just wants to do his own thing. I have trouble asserting myself then (I'm shy and feel really uncomfortable), which is probably my biggest problem...
For example, I went to a professional for balayage - I had very long hair and I said my only really important wish is a nice gradient that starts below the ears because I didn't want too much of my hair to be blonde (I have dark brown hair) well, the hairdresser didn't really take this one wish seriously and the blonde started only a few centimetres from the roots.... 300 euros and I was really not happy.
Another time I wanted two strands of blonde framing my face and showed some photos, she starts bleaching, (which took a while) and when it was finally done it was so little blonde that when my hair fell a bit differently you couldn't see it at all. I commented on it and she said "I did a little less blonde than you said, I didn't want you to look like a skunk".
Maybe I'm just very unlucky with expensive hairdressers, but I won't be having anything done anytime soon because I don't really trust a "good" hairdresser now :/

Yes, I am terrified. Crime scene last year, not only one time but two times, totally butchered my hair and I went to beauty salon. And the second one is supposed to be one of the top hair salon in town 🙄 😒 😑 😐 😫

Hey, is it good idea to start growing hair from zero level on all sides?
I had a mid fade and I had 7 inches on top and I asked to make it 4 on top and they left it literally above my eyebrow 🤦♂️
I've had mine grown out for about half a decade only having about 2 haircuts since 2015 and if I was to put my guess why I'd say low self esteem I'm 23 and I'm worried about receding even though I'm complimented on my hairline a bit and thinking about it I remember when I was 10 I'd get haircuts fairly often and I was told it would be a trim after 5 months of growing and they shaved it right down and I'd leave the chair crying..
I'm still nervous about it though I want it cut because it looks unclean it's honestly staring to ruin my day to day life with eating, wearing jewellery, tying it up, not having it dread up..
I shaved off my beard I've been growing out the last 15 months to try and get more comfortable though

I just hate it when they pull my hair because it falls out so easily. Also I’ve never been satisfied with the final result ever, at any place I’ve ever been to
ive had around 3 haircuts in the oast 6 months and everytime it always ends up curling inwards and looking like a bowlcut or a mushroom, i hate it so much but nothing i do fixes it and haircuts dont seem to be helping either, ive went to youtube and Google multiple times trying to find a way to tame it to flip up instead of down and i get nothing. the middle top of my hair is around 5-6 inches and the front is around 3-4 inches and goes to the bridge of my nose, i dont know what to say to the barber to get the right haircut and i dont want to ruin my hair completely or end up way to short

Like no haircut at all in 4 years, even an 'At home do' or DIY job? Many local and I guess most hairdresser/Stylists/Barbers etc have dedicated Instagram pages with a portfolio of their work. Maybe look for examples of a similar hair type or style to your own and check them out.
March of 2017 was my last haircut. Lol

No just as a kid being forced to go to the barber the older traditional Barber Shops with the old men with the green cap all they want to do is give crew cuts back in those days there was two reasons why you had a crew cut you were sent off to boot camp or got lice
but what if i won’t get a haircut because i feel emotionally attached. my ends are the last bit of the hair i had from my senior year of high school and it makes me so sad and scared at the thought of getting rid of it. i know that i want shorter hair, i know that my hair is unhealthy and i want to take better care of it, but i’m having SUCH a difficult time feeling like i’m letting go of who i was and it feels like that’s the last piece of her.

My dad found out that I wanted to be a girl and he strapped me in a chair and shaved off all my hair that was 8 years ago and since then I never had my hair cut because it gives me ptsd
I just don't like a total stranger cut my hair. That is why I have my mom do it for me. haha.
For my whole life I’ve HATED getting haircuts lmaooo, there have been times where my hair was cut shorter than I wanted it to be which caused me to have some trust issues and the place I normally went to didn’t feel gender neutral (I’m non-binary) so instead I just let my friend cut my hair one day and it turned out great. I think you just gotta find what’s best for YOU and have good communication.
