I love how almost all the other booktubers give reviews for the same books but it's always a different genre and unheard authors here on this channel. This channel has made me read genres I wouldn't have ever tried.
I’ve heard you say you have mixed feelings on Stephen king before and you should totally do a whole video dedicated to that! I just finished my first Stephen king book and I despised it with such passion that I refuse to read any other book he’s written. But all I hear on booktube is people praising him and I’m so fucking confused! AH I want someone to share the Stephen king hate with me.
When I was younger and he was the first horror I was ever allowed to read, I loved him. As I got older I realized how little I enjoy his writing style ( unnecessary amounts of description and pop culture) his characters ( it’s like he only know how to write the same three people) and his indecisiveness ( he seems to try to simultaneously be literary and appeal to the masses, but he doesn’t want to be too intellectual, so we end up talking about baseball 🙄). He takes good ideas and ruins them with cliche characters or take good characters and ruins them with cliche plots. His pacing is terrible, at least in his novels. The exposition and build up takes forever and the endings wrap up too fast. And I’ve never really been scared by anything he writes, probably because everything is so cliched. Sorry for the rant, but I too don’t get the hype surrounding this man’s writing.
