This is a beautiful explanation of how to install a dusk to dawn . I did not come across anyone else with such a clear demonstration of how this is achieved,
Your probably talking about the part that secures it in a container!? U can drill a hole in metal & have the photo eye/sensor placed & held by those round retainers. Kinda like a door peep hole.
Nice instructional video; thank you Sir!!If you viewers dont understand what the man is saying you shouldnt be any where near electricity. Youre going to hurt yourself or someone else.
Hi Amer. Nice video! Q: I run a one watt lightbulb 24/7 in my shed from a small battery and solar array. If I add the photosensor will Ithe light actually need more than 24w per day?
Thanks. Interesting question. Most off the shelf photocells need 110 or 220 volts to run, I believe I have seen some which can be installed in a series without a power supply for low volt circuits of less than 12v. Obviously these will not be 100% efficient so some power loss will be expected, maybe 0.5 watt or less. So you have to read the specs of the photocell to really know how much power will it require to operate but just guessing I think you can install in series and the savings in power of not operating during the day will offset any additional power required for the photocell.
The black is the live that connect straight to the powers … the red should connect to the black from your light… the light normally has 2 wire which is black and white ( white Is the common) how ever you’re gunna connect a next white The white and from the light and the photo sell which will connect the power with the black from the photo cell .. so basically you will end up with live and neutral hope you understand English is not my first language
Why would the light not go out when daylight come on. This is the second straight time this has happened. The present photocell swithch was installed about 18 months ago. It operates a post lamp about 40 feet away that gives some illumination to the property. There is nothing blocking the photo cell unit.
If Boeing change wiring to these type of control signal then less leakage because the light enclosed inside pvc tube then no one can read or interfere pit just like fiber optic but cheaper and much lighter than both fiber optics or regular wiring because one of these inside a tube can replace 20-50 kg of control wire bundle
When I connect the photocell in the red cable there is always electricity. I went to change it because I thought it was bad but it always has the same problem, there is always power on the red cable even if there is light or darkness and the black cable is connected to the live line. You know what happen ?
Probably not! It’s electrical! Place under a soffit ,over hang, or other! To some degree it may be weather resistant! They make some that are contained in a special housing! So look at the different types that are being sold!?
No. The black wire is connected to the Live power coming from the house, it will ultimately go to the bulb after passing through the photocell. Once it passes through the photocell, it becomes the red wire. The photocell connects or disconnects the black & red wire.
Doesn’t get any simpler than that! We jus put new lights up at the back of our church building! (Had to test the photo-cell out & by-pass!)….. the problem turned out to be the commercial lights with starters in them!? Removed & installed standard flood light types! Brighter & more reliable! Wired photo cell back into the circuit with the light timer! Bye Felicia!
Simple easy words......ok.....so what about the two imaginary wires coming from the common neutral ????? Might help if yah could see the wires....and where they go.
I have never seen anyone explain how to wire them up and then they work. Every one is a liar. They can't make it work because they don't show it working in real time by covering the sensor. It's all a scam. NO one knows what they are doing.
Chill my friend, someone above commented and simplified further: White wires hooked together from the light and the house. Black hooks to the house and red hooks to the light. So Black (is incoming power from house) and red (outgoing power to the light). I hope it's clear now. This assumes your house wiring is done as per code.
@@akhaqan I tried everything and switched the wires around. I read others who had the exact same problem. My home was wired by aliens from mars in their factory. Maybe that's the problem

Thank you for your detailed explanation. Now I know better the working principles of a photocell
Excellent Video…I’ve watched a few similar videos but you actually explained how the photo works and what each wire is used for!
i think it would be easier if the actual lamp was there with the wires!!
You explained this very well, thank you.
Jah bless yuh'' this makes everyone understand well big up!
This was very useful. Thank you.
OUTSTANDING description....thx!
You're welcome!
yes very clear and great voice too
Appreciate the help.
Thank you, I recently found one at a yard sale and didn't want to hook it to anything before knowing how.
You are welcome
Thank you! This was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much.
you excellently explained it well.
kudos!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Amer! Well done!
Most welcome
Beautiful Thank you, a thousand blessings
Thank you so much!
During night time, white color cable still have power?
Thank you sir.
thank you excellent explanation. I am wondering if the gasket goes on the inside or outside or my round aluminum lamp post?
Thanks. Outside first and if you have two, then inside & out.
@@akhaqan Thanks for the prompt answer Ron T.
Are you sir an excellent teacher
Thanks and welcome
What are the round things around the photocell and what are they used for.

Well said!
Lightbulb not working, replaced with new bulb, still not working. There’s an intermittent clicking noise coming from the pedestal ?
So what happened if you wired the photocell wrong (white=common, black=load, red=hot). Did I break it?
I think I understand, thank you.
Great

I professionally installed a photocell but we experience heavy rain-and wind now my lights don’t turn on at all?
That should not be happening, call back the professional who installed it to check, maybe water got in or something.
Is this water proof?
Probably not! It’s electrical! Place under a soffit ,over hang, or other! To some degree it may be weather resistant! They make some that are contained in a special housing! So look at the different types that are being sold!?
White wires hooked together from the light and the house. Black hooks to the house and red hooks to the light.
Correct and simplified. Black (incoming power from house) and red (outgoing power to the light).
So, I think your saying the red and black wire both share (connected to the incoming black wire) :)
No. The black wire is connected to the Live power coming from the house, it will ultimately go to the bulb after passing through the photocell. Once it passes through the photocell, it becomes the red wire. The photocell connects or disconnects the black & red wire.

Hi, I conected my lamp and it turns on and off at night , why?
The photocell is receiving direct light from the lamp and it is causing it to cycle on/off
What does the red wire do?
It provides power to the bulb
@@akhaqan cool!

Maybe you can look up for another video which meets your requirements, cheers!
What if I wanted to do the opposite turn on when daytime and turn off at night
Either you have to put a relay in this circuit or look for a photocell that works opposite to the normally available ones
You didn’t show how you wire a photo cell 👎
Bought the same one, wired it up as per your diagram... poooff.... and burning smell...
No Is clear man Used exemple
Who know what you are talking about. You should install and show us rather than giving a lecture like we know all this
