Dolly has said Linda is the best female vocalist she's ever heard. Linda is a legend in her own right and has a huge catalogue of music of her own, rock, country, pop, light opera and even Spanish language. Want to be blown away, watch her sing with the mariachi band in Spanish. Emmylou is also a country legend with a decades long career in songwriting and performing. They did two albums together Trio I and II because they loved how well their voices blended after the two ladies appeared on Dolly's first TV show which is where this clip came from. 3 Legendary Ladies!

I see some people saying Linda was a country singer. Some saying she was a rock singer.
I’ve seen Emmy Lou with Willie Nelson. Beautiful woman. So sweet. Linda was a massive star in late 70s to early 80s. Then there is Dolly. I feel she was sent from heaven as an Angel in earth. Her voice is so angelic and she is truly a kind human and will speak to anyone as if she’s known them forever. A video a woman took one day of silly walking in to a diner and she is saying “Howdy,mornin’!” To everyone she passed. Just as kind as she could be.
Emmylou has a killer balled, “Boulder to Birmingham” that she wrote after the death of Gram Parsons. That song leaves a mark. Linda’s just flat out fantastic. Pick anything by her, especially if it is her singing “You’re No Good” live on The Midnight Special. 😊. Every song sung by the Trio (Dolly, Linda, and Emmylou) is also fantastic, but I especially recommend their performance of “After the Goldrush” on David Letterman. Ethereal harmonies. I’m so glad you discovered the Trio. Follow Dolly and she’ll never steer you wrong. 😊
Trio has a star on Hollywood's walk of fame
This was a country music supergroup and they have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to prove it. Linda Ronstadt was the biggest female pop star in the world in the 1970's. Among many other things, she's got 11 Grammy awards and is a recipient of the Kennedy Center honors and the National Medal of Arts and Humanities, presented at the White House by President Obama. Other than that, just a zillion gold and platinum records in a number of different genres and a successful run on Broadway opposite Kevine Kline and Angela Lansbury resulting in Tony and Golden Globenominations.
The 3 of them performed this song together on Dolly's show in 1976. They later collaborated together on a few albums. The first Trio album from 1987 is great & showcases the lovely voices of these talented ladies. Lots of great songs such as "To Know Him Is To Love Him", "Telling Me Lies", "Those Memories Of You", "Wildflowers" etc. They did a 2nd album Trio II in 1999. It also has many hit songs such as "After The Goldrush", "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind", "Feels Like Home" etc.
Emmylou and I are from the same city in Alabama. I think I was required to love her because of that lol. Lucky for us she has an amazing voice too.

Dolly, Emmylou & Linda set the bar high. You listen to anything they sang together or separate. You will never be sorry. I have both Trio albums(l should say cds, but us old folks still call everything albums.lol) & l still listen to them today. along with Dolly, Loretta Lynn & Tammy Wynette album "Honky Tonk Angels". Great Female singers with beautiful harmonies.

Linda and Emmylou both had sensational solo careers. With dozens of hits. This is a very rare evet to see them together. It is great to see a young black man discovering the music old white ladies have loved for over 50 years. Have you checked out Barbara Streisand and Bette Middler they are not county but they can sing and do it all.
You have to listen to Emmy Lou by herself too she is a goat she had rock and bluegrass also. FYI dolly just announced she's releasing a ROCK album
