Jim is the KING of losing an argument and then changing the argument to suit his own agenda. Gotta respect Simon for sticking to his guns and not falling into that trap
What you're saying about Jim White is exactly what Simon Jordan does. Twisting and turning to try and hide being proven wrong.
When United made the Europa league final last season he was absolutely shitting it lol but when they lost he immediately turned back to pompous.
8:00 talks about Ole has made invisible progress (emperor's new clothes) and calls it bs. Then Jim says " joint best away record for top flight, 27 games" and instead of admitting "touche" he changes the subject to "but he didn't win anything".
This is the exact reason you can't win an argument with an idiot.
@@DirtyJamesUK The fact of a matter is that Ole neither is the best coach since Fergie left or the one that improved the club. What's a 27 game unbeaten streak to do with the initial question of Ole being the best coach since Fergie?

I think people disrespect Ole and we need to acknowledge what he's done. He's changed the culture of United post Fergie, but if united want to move forward then they have to decide whether to move forward with effectively a poor man's Zidane (especially when the real deal is available) or go for a more tactically adept coach.

Ole is not the manager for Man UTD, he proved that yesterday.
Proved it many times. Results have mostly only been decent during lockdown football. He's not ruthless enough and his tactics are to copy sir Alex and the "United way" which is arrogant and naive when football has evolved so much tactically these days. The last team to win the league counter attacking was Leicester in a one off season. First time I've ever agreed with Simon on anything.. We've forgotten how to win any trophy, never mind the Premier League.
Bottling the Europa League final against a club who had an entire squad that cost less than Bruno proves that. PS Simon is right about a lot of things. And personally I wouldn't get into an argument with him on much unless I knew what I was saying was iron clad
You say this just because of a few years.

So glad you guys have finally realized that Martial is garbage. Took you lot long enough. I've been saying it for years.
He’s playing Pogba on the wing when United have about 7 wingers and lack quality in the midfield. What happened to Diallo, and the money he was bought with? What happened to Van De Beek? These players weren’t exactly cheap, but were considered rising stars. Oh, they’re benched for Dan James and Fred
Sure, anyone can lose to Villarreal (..in theory perhaps) but rarely has the manager of any top club ever looked so clueless and out of depth than Solskjaer in that game. His face was one that said a loss was on the cards, sat like a church mouse. Fortunately (or unfortunately for United) rivals would see Man United differently if they had a manager of Conte’s calibre leading them.
I despair
I agreed with everything until you got to conte - he would play 3 5 2 which I don’t want to see in football period, yet alone at old Trafford.
@@damianbrowne847 I did think of that tbh; don’t mean the style of play, but simply the calibre where they have a record of achievement. People might say Solskjaer is likeable but he honestly seems to lack the character of a Ferguson, Conte, Klopp, etc 🤷🏼♀️

OGS still out of his depth despite a lucky, prolonged period of time at the helm. Chelsea quickly jumped above Utd and joined Liverpool and Man City as the best and most competitive teams in the PL with one change of manger. Utd’s squad is on a similar level, the management fails them.
How do you know? There has only been 2 games of the season.
@@kyrre3694 okay, let’s focus on those two games then. In one of those two, we have already seen that there is an obvious inability to change and influence the game. That has also been very apparent during his whole tenure. The failings of the team, more often than not fall at the feet of OGS. He’s not world class. He’s not going to take us to any major trophy. Tuchel took over a weaker squad, took them to two major trophies in 6 months, and has already improved them into serious contenders.

@@alexhemmings9503 so Man Utd have a manager in OGS that compares to that of Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea then? One result doesn’t make a manager bad, but when a manager makes the same mistake over and over i.e. team selection, late/poor substitutions, inability to change style when faced with a defensive set-up, then there is a problem. That’s what OGS has consistently shown us over the last few seasons.

I really don't get why we keep this manager. When will people finally understand that he isn’t the calibre of manager that’s right for United lol. It’s literally baffling ( Chelsea manager nailed it the other day when asked a question about Lukaku. "We bought him to play not sit on the bench"..?)
Lukaku started for Chelsea, Grealish started for Man City.... Man United bench all their stars, Donny, Sancho, Varane should all start.... No excuses...
The media ignoring the Donny situation is appalling...they never ask Ole about him
What does Donny need to do to get a game? Against a team that mostly sits back we play Matic and Fred instead of VDB, at this rate i think if we sign a cdm Ole will still play Fred and mctominay and bench him.
Ole small team mentality that's what I think it's down to. Big managers make BIG decisions and ole can't do that.

Ole has transformed the defence and are always a potent attacking threat. He seems intelligent enough of a guy to recognise the fact he needs to surround himself with the correct coaches to make that next push.

United fan but I have to agree with Simon. After the mess jose left us in it wasnt hard for ole to improve our situation
I like listening to Simon but disagree with him on this. The measure of a manager in any job is are they improving their own team which is something Ole has done so far based on the statistics. Comparing him to other managers is irrelevant. He is comparing Ole to Pep one of the greatest managers ever and other more experienced managers and based on that saying Ole will win nothing.
I agree with Danny Murphy in that this is a big year for Ole. Improvement this year means getting at least close to winning Premier League and/or Champions League and probably winning something. The day he stops improving Man United is the day his position should be questioned and not by saying some other more experienced bigger name manager has won more.
The question to ask is, is the quality of this United side better under Ole than under Mourinho? I would say yes. Is it capable of winning trophies? Yes. But the PL or CL? No.
I’ll be honest though, as a United fan, my standards have definitely dropped since Moyes. Winning the league now seems like a far fetched dream.
Jim white is probably is one of the biggest lightbulbs I’ve seen for sometime!

Simon always has a point when it comes to a Solskjær debate. Still no silverware under him and if it wasn't for his history as a United player, his head would have rolled back at the end of 2019.
Jim going on to talk about United's unbeaten away record, yet Man City still won more points away from home. Being unbeaten is overrated when you still haven't been the best. 12 wins and 7 draws, but I'd rather have 15 wins, a draw and 3 defeats in that case, for example, as that's still more points. When you aren't 1st place, you don't get any accolades or silverware for unbeaten records. A club can be unbeaten with 1 win and 37 draws and they'd be in the bottom half of the table, barely dodging relegation
Also, Mourinho won the Europa League but he also started in the EL that season and not in there via relegation from the Champions League, and that was all down to Van Gaal's 5th place finish the previous season
My god that’s a lot of facts. Ole inners can’t handle so much spice mate. Tone it down!
SNM: Nightmare Hollow: The unbeaten record is an undeniable achievement that shows resilience, strength of character and defensive strength, all signs of champions. Now if we can change a few of those draws into wins we'd be pushing even more for the title, sancho will surely help us on that front.
Plus Ole has spent more than 400 million and got all the players he wants. Conte, Zidane are better coaches than Ole. Even Nuno is a far better tactical coach than the PE teacher Ole

Reality is, English clubs had the biggest chance to rise to the top as Spanish teams are having issues with transferring from one generation to another. It's like when Ferguson left Man U, Barca & Real are in that situation... it was their chance to rise but let's be honest, they rose in a mediocre way. The CL is meh compared to the past when Real & Barca dominated.

Jordan's not wrong in his argument. What he fails to do is properly credit OGS for the turnaround (done) and the rebuild (underway). Those are both hard asks. Ole needs to play his strongest team and stop trying to accommodate certain guys like martial, lingard and Fred. He has to be ruthless, I just don't understand how Donny doesn't get minutes and how he didn't start Sancho and Varane. These are crazy red flags in my opinion.
I was of the opinion that he made the right choice in not starting varane on Sunday to be honest, but then people pointed out to me that players like lukaku, Grealish etc. started after a week or less of training and I changed my tune. I back ole, but the new lads should have played the full 90.
I have been saying this for the last 7 years watching United. There seems to be no structure to the team play too many players playing as individuals the communication is poor no style no idea they don't know how to break the lines then when one goes there seems to be no covering. If individuals play well United play well and look good if they don't show up United look poor. I don't think it is a purely tactical problem I think that it doesn't seem to be just a managerial problem it is simply that the players are not good enough to play for Manchester United. This team has gone threw many coaches and still the same problems exist. So many times United depend on individuals to preform but the structure is not there sometimes the players seem to run around like headless chickens not knowing what is going wrong when they are in a fight or a scrap. Certain players I wouldn't have bought if I was the coach at Manchester United and a lot of good players that were available I would have bought. For me when things are going good Pogba looks world class bit as soon as their is a fight he disappears. United needed a clear out in the summer people like Pogba, Jones, Lingaard, Fred, Matic, Mata, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, De Gea, Martial, Bailly, Grant, Telles, James. I am not Harry McMaguire biggest fan either. He does well for England but for United I don't think he is good enough to be Uniteds captain. United should have had a mass clear out in the summer and their are a number of players I would look to sign none of them have been mentioned but The United Stand channel or any of the rumor mill accept for Harland lol. I never honestly believes that they would win the title or get close this season they are to inconsistent for that.
I reckon Ferguson is still heavily involved as an advisor to ole
That’s going well isn’t it 🤣
Fergie is the puppet master
No chance
United are underachieving 4 years without a trophy and 13 years since a UCL is a catastrophe for such a big club with the highest turnover in the world
Really ? 1 in 13 years a Catastrophe for man utd
Well how many did they win in the previous 40 years before that including the European cup as there was a thing called Football before 1992
What are you basing this view on? There seems to be a myth that Manchester United win things all the time...they don't...Alex Ferguson did.
There are 2 era's of a winning Manchester United team...Busby and Ferguson. In the period between Busby leaving and Ferguson appointed there was 17 years and 5 managers and they won the total of 3 FA Cups and they finished 2nd in the league twice. It then took Ferguson 4 years to win a cup and 7 years to win the league...so let's get the facts right!
Since Ferguson left there has been 8 years and 4 managers with an FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League win. We've been nowhere near winning the league in that time with 2 of the most decorated managers in world football. Am I happy United aren't winning everything...of course not. Can I see progress in the team...that is completely undeniable statistically.
Is Ole the right man to take us back to the Fergie days...no...as nobody is or ever will be able to match the greatest manager ever.
Some United fans need to get real and have a word with themselves. Ole has improved himself as well as the team in the 2 full seasons he has been manager. If he doesn't do that this year then yes...the pressure will be on him but so far we're a point better off than last year.
This expectation that United always win is absolute rubbish as history disproves that and if the glory hunter fans give off then they can do one also!
As a United fan I absolutely agree with Simon. Ole isn't a top manager. Pep started at Barca had the best team in the world but you could see his personality and his vision. Klopp proved himself in Mainz and Dortmund. Tuchel the same plus Paris. Ole was manager of Molde and Cardiff. Just ask yourself if any top 10 club in Europe would hire Ole if he is available? Bayern, Chelsea, City, Liverpool, Juve... No chance. Juve tried this model with Pirlo and now are back with Allegri. Chelsea went from Lampard to Tuchel. #MUFC won't win anything with Ole Gunnar Solskjear as manager. I say this as Manchester United fan. And I'm not the only one thinking this... He improved the squad. The squad is good enough for a title and a good manager would make at least a title challenge. They are short of a cdm and a 30 goal striker to be a complete team. But even with Haaland and Rice Ole wouldn't be the guy leading the team to a Prem title bcuz he gets out coached even by managers like Potter or Hasenhuttel let alone by the big3
I support Ole, not because my expectations have lowered; but because I'm looking at the broader picture of the progress made under him.
Ultimately he has to win something soon. But the improvements on and off the pitch, the building of squad cohesion, dealing with the imbalance in the squad he was given from different managers with polar visions from eachother let alone him, the identity in style of play he building and so on and so on and so on. Rome wasn't built in a day.
He has to win soon now; but we also have to be realistic. We don't have the depth of quality that city and Chelsea do. We also have a glaring problem in midfield. To say united "have to win" this season is ridiculous. What united need is to plug the hole in midfield, that is next summer; then they have to win something big.
Whats ole vs pep h2h record.
How many Trophy's have they both got??
Not even joking, United should of stayed by and backed Moyes. Ferguson chose him for a reason… it wasn’t the Glazers or Woodward that chose Moyes, it was Fergie!!!
Fergie also said Phil Jones would be world class
As a leeds fan I've seen ole do us over badly twice at old Trafford and that takes some doing against bielsa so I believe he's probably better than ppl actually give him credit
They’re not close enough to old Trafford and united to see what he’s done so far. Their opinions are all very superficial and lacking critical analysis.

Well, no, the very point of the Doomsday Book is that it’s never finished.
Come on... Simon leave these people alone thy won't admit. The guy has been a failure to Man United, fans won't be honest because he is their favorite. Look at Ollys record before United, in no way did it warrant the Utd job.
He was league titles he is
Biggest difference between Ole, Klopp,Tuchel & Pep is that they're a coach & manager, Ole's just a manager. That is a huge difference when it comes to fine margins. that's the difference between winning and not winning.
For example in the europa league final everyone knew de gea couldn't save a penalty to save his life, yet he left him on instead of Henderson who is better at saving penalty. Now Tuchel in the super cup realised kepa was better at saving penalties and he subbed kepa on and they won. that's the difference! Ole has never shown to me that he can be ruthless & manage games i.e sub a player off when its clearly evident that they are not up to it. tuchel subbed hudson odoi on and subbed him off immediately, klopp to milner off, pep took aguero off knowing that might upset them. fred/mctomany etc has to be so bad to the extent that they literally have to score an own goal on purpose, then ole might consider subbing them.
He's recruitment has been really good, he knows what type of players united need. But when it comes to elite level competition, good players can only take you so far. I would love nothing more than being proved wrong but I don't think he will do it.
What Sunday proved is we need a holding midfielder badly because without mctominay sitting we have no legs in midfield and without cavano and rashford available we will sometimes struggle to convert chances greenwood is doing a awesome job but he's still very young and still has alot to learn.

The club was built on loyalty. Not sacking managers every 5 mins. Is the club in a better place than when Jose left? Yes. It is a better, younger squad? Yes. Are we 28 unbeaten away? Yes. Has Ole achieved 6th, 3rd, 2nd? Yes. Let him work. Tuchel was bang average until he skated past over the hill teams in the CL. Kloop got Mainz (and nearly Dortmund) relegated. He was almost sacked in season 2 or 3. Ole is doing a fantastic job. Fans seem to think you can win 38 league games. Let's see at the end of the season.
