Comparing him to other managers is irrelevant. He is comparing Ole to Pep one of the greatest managers ever and other more experienced managers and based on that saying Ole will win nothing.
    I agree with Danny Murphy in that this is a big year for Ole. Improvement this year means getting at least close to winning Premier League and/or Champions League and probably winning something. The day he stops improving Man United is the day his position should be questioned and not by saying some other more experienced bigger name manager has won more.

    Jim going on to talk about United's unbeaten away record, yet Man City still won more points away from home. Being unbeaten is overrated when you still haven't been the best. 12 wins and 7 draws, but I'd rather have 15 wins, a draw and 3 defeats in that case, for example, as that's still more points. When you aren't 1st place, you don't get any accolades or silverware for unbeaten records. A club can be unbeaten with 1 win and 37 draws and they'd be in the bottom half of the table, barely dodging relegation
    Also, Mourinho won the Europa League but he also started in the EL that season and not in there via relegation from the Champions League, and that was all down to Van Gaal's 5th place finish the previous season

    I have been saying this for the last 7 years watching United. There seems to be no structure to the team play too many players playing as individuals the communication is poor no style no idea they don't know how to break the lines then when one goes there seems to be no covering. If individuals play well United play well and look good if they don't show up United look poor. I don't think it is a purely tactical problem I think that it doesn't seem to be just a managerial problem it is simply that the players are not good enough to play for Manchester United. This team has gone threw many coaches and still the same problems exist. So many times United depend on individuals to preform but the structure is not there sometimes the players seem to run around like headless chickens not knowing what is going wrong when they are in a fight or a scrap. Certain players I wouldn't have bought if I was the coach at Manchester United and a lot of good players that were available I would have bought. For me when things are going good Pogba looks world class bit as soon as their is a fight he disappears. United needed a clear out in the summer people like Pogba, Jones, Lingaard, Fred, Matic, Mata, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, De Gea, Martial, Bailly, Grant, Telles, James. I am not Harry McMaguire biggest fan either. He does well for England but for United I don't think he is good enough to be Uniteds captain. United should have had a mass clear out in the summer and their are a number of players I would look to sign none of them have been mentioned but The United Stand channel or any of the rumor mill accept for Harland lol. I never honestly believes that they would win the title or get close this season they are to inconsistent for that.

      What are you basing this view on? There seems to be a myth that Manchester United win things all the time...they don't...Alex Ferguson did.
      There are 2 era's of a winning Manchester United team...Busby and Ferguson. In the period between Busby leaving and Ferguson appointed there was 17 years and 5 managers and they won the total of 3 FA Cups and they finished 2nd in the league twice. It then took Ferguson 4 years to win a cup and 7 years to win the league...so let's get the facts right!
      Since Ferguson left there has been 8 years and 4 managers with an FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League win. We've been nowhere near winning the league in that time with 2 of the most decorated managers in world football. Am I happy United aren't winning everything...of course not. Can I see progress in the team...that is completely undeniable statistically.
      Is Ole the right man to take us back to the Fergie days...no...as nobody is or ever will be able to match the greatest manager ever.
      Some United fans need to get real and have a word with themselves. Ole has improved himself as well as the team in the 2 full seasons he has been manager. If he doesn't do that this year then yes...the pressure will be on him but so far we're a point better off than last year.
      This expectation that United always win is absolute rubbish as history disproves that and if the glory hunter fans give off then they can do one also!

  • @marlo_stanfield4410
    @marlo_stanfield4410 Před 2 lety

    As a United fan I absolutely agree with Simon. Ole isn't a top manager. Pep started at Barca had the best team in the world but you could see his personality and his vision. Klopp proved himself in Mainz and Dortmund. Tuchel the same plus Paris. Ole was manager of Molde and Cardiff. Just ask yourself if any top 10 club in Europe would hire Ole if he is available? Bayern, Chelsea, City, Liverpool, Juve... No chance. Juve tried this model with Pirlo and now are back with Allegri. Chelsea went from Lampard to Tuchel. #MUFC won't win anything with Ole Gunnar Solskjear as manager. I say this as Manchester United fan. And I'm not the only one thinking this... He improved the squad. The squad is good enough for a title and a good manager would make at least a title challenge. They are short of a cdm and a 30 goal striker to be a complete team. But even with Haaland and Rice Ole wouldn't be the guy leading the team to a Prem title bcuz he gets out coached even by managers like Potter or Hasenhuttel let alone by the big3

  • @ukbigjon
    @ukbigjon Před 2 lety

    I support Ole, not because my expectations have lowered; but because I'm looking at the broader picture of the progress made under him.
    Ultimately he has to win something soon. But the improvements on and off the pitch, the building of squad cohesion, dealing with the imbalance in the squad he was given from different managers with polar visions from eachother let alone him, the identity in style of play he building and so on and so on and so on. Rome wasn't built in a day.
    He has to win soon now; but we also have to be realistic. We don't have the depth of quality that city and Chelsea do. We also have a glaring problem in midfield. To say united "have to win" this season is ridiculous. What united need is to plug the hole in midfield, that is next summer; then they have to win something big.

      Says who? Anyone with enough critical faculties to assess information. It’s blatently obvious from how much they had trained preseason before the game, and how few preseason friendliest had been played. Literally joined up less than a week earlier.
      Half of united’s squad won’t be fully match fit until after the international break.

    Biggest difference between Ole, Klopp,Tuchel & Pep is that they're a coach & manager, Ole's just a manager. That is a huge difference when it comes to fine margins. that's the difference between winning and not winning.
    For example in the europa league final everyone knew de gea couldn't save a penalty to save his life, yet he left him on instead of Henderson who is better at saving penalty. Now Tuchel in the super cup realised kepa was better at saving penalties and he subbed kepa on and they won. that's the difference! Ole has never shown to me that he can be ruthless & manage games i.e sub a player off when its clearly evident that they are not up to it. tuchel subbed hudson odoi on and subbed him off immediately, klopp to milner off, pep took aguero off knowing that might upset them. fred/mctomany etc has to be so bad to the extent that they literally have to score an own goal on purpose, then ole might consider subbing them.
    He's recruitment has been really good, he knows what type of players united need. But when it comes to elite level competition, good players can only take you so far. I would love nothing more than being proved wrong but I don't think he will do it.

    What Sunday proved is we need a holding midfielder badly because without mctominay sitting we have no legs in midfield and without cavano and rashford available we will sometimes struggle to convert chances greenwood is doing a awesome job but he's still very young and still has alot to learn.

    There's positives to Ole and negatives aswell, he lacks plenty in tactics, substitutions, in game changes, squad rotation and that may cost us, he seems like a good man manager and a likeable person which helps him, he's got us scoring goals in abundance but also had the best man utd team since Ferguson. This season must decide his fate, no excuses.

    The club was built on loyalty. Not sacking managers every 5 mins. Is the club in a better place than when Jose left? Yes. It is a better, younger squad? Yes. Are we 28 unbeaten away? Yes. Has Ole achieved 6th, 3rd, 2nd? Yes. Let him work. Tuchel was bang average until he skated past over the hill teams in the CL. Kloop got Mainz (and nearly Dortmund) relegated. He was almost sacked in season 2 or 3. Ole is doing a fantastic job. Fans seem to think you can win 38 league games. Let's see at the end of the season.

    Mourinho had 82 points, won the efl cup and europa league and then got sacked. Ole got 66, 66, and 74 points as far as I can remember and has spent more than Pep since he came. Pathetic.
