If anyone wants to know, this actually happened. The crew didn’t know what was wrong with the plane until they were told that the landing gear was 90 degrees twisted. They flew in circles for 2-3 hours to wear off extra fuel so it doesn’t blow up when they make the emergency landing. They cut off the TVs before the landing so none of the passengers wouldn't freak out. All 146 people on board got off uninjured. The pilot was really skillful and calm all the way through. The pilot’s name is Scott Burke, and he wants no glory for it.
I’d also like to include that half the landing gear was burnt clean off, I found that really cool.

iirc that plane isn't even capable of dumping fuel and that's why they had to circle around for 2-3 hours to get to safer landing weight

For those who don’t know, this is a true story: a JetBlue plane landed with a broken nose gear at LAX and the passengers onboard watched their plane crash land as it happened on the news since, of course, JetBlue has live TV.
So, basically, SNL made a not funny skit about people being fearful because they thought they would die in a plane crash. Those SNL "comedy" writers must be soo proud of themselves. What's next, a skit about the people working in the twin towers on 9-11?

Fun Fact: The real Jet Blue 292 was an Airbus A320 incapable of dumping fuel so the pilots had to fly the airplane in a holding pattern for TWO HOURS in order to burn off fuel. Imagine sitting on the plane for over two hours watching what was happening on their TV's, that must have been terrifying!

I just busted up laughing at the entirety of the computer simulation. It's so over-the-top and morbid, by the time Seth said "As you can see, they're not going to make it," I had to pause the video and laugh it out.

The Airbus A320 family (which is what jetBlue operates) has an excellent safety record. And jetBlue is an excellent airline to begin with.
What I’m trying to say is, there is nothing to worry about. :)
So a few years back I’m getting ready to board a plane when I look up and see all the tv’s are showing footage of a plane crash that had happened the day before. Exactly what you want to see when you’re already an anxious flyer. 😂😂 I told the lady working the desk someone should probably change the channel as that wasn’t exactly inspiring confidence.

I work for Jetblue and love them. Yes it happened. Jetblue is so safety oriented and in the hiring of their pilots and flight crew. It was such a smooth landing. You can see the landing of it on CZcams. It is awesome.

Shortly after takeoff on a domestic scheduled flight from Burbank, CA to New York, the crew became aware of a problem with the front landing gear. The wheels on the landing gear were locked in an incorrect position, leading the crew to divert to Los Angeles for an emergency landing. The landing, broadcast live by CNN and many other television networks, was visually spectacular but did not result in any serious damage to the aircraft. There were no injuries among the 140 passengers and six crew members.
This event was not considered an accident by either the FAA or NTSB and is in fact an airliner landing on a malfunctioning landing gear occurs several times a year around the world. This event was considered to be a significant event by AirSafe.com because of the extraordinary media attention paid to the event both during the emergency and in the days following. One reason for the interest was the fact that many of the passengers were able to view live images of their aircraft until shortly before landing.

Gabriela Loera Actually, Friends was recorded with a live audience. I watched a documentary about it. During filming they chose the funniest scenes thanks to the live feedback :)

@@philtll True. Sometimes they say stuff and there's dead silence after it. SNL has legit laughter, and they don't have a chance to go back and edit it for a better reaction. It's shot live, broadcast live, and if jokes fall flat, it's embarrassing, but at least it's legit.
