Repairing the pillar and rocker damage on the RDX Aspec

- I have some parts for the Acura RDX so it is time to start putting it back together. I did find a good price on a used section of the rocker and cowl which wasn't easy, and it even came with a little bonus. Let's see if we can get the hard part of this job out of the way.

What I appreciate about Scott's builds are that they are real...unlike many other youtubers, who stick together cars just for the content, and they are junk...Scott's vehicles are drivers....one of the best channels on youtube...
Thanks, I’m not much of a CZcamsr so I just stick to rebuilding, it is what I know! 😂
Even If Scott's cars wind up with a rebuilt title, IMHO there are RE MANUFACTURED and as safe or safer
than a non wrecked or rusted out car on the road......peace of mind and no 'Hack and Slash Job' here folks!
Scott covers his behind that way on Liability issues this way as well!
The Best builder in CZcams keep up the great work Scott
And liability is something that a lot of CZcamsr rebuilders don’t consider so well. Honda has strict procedures for structural repairs; skimp on these and the car is in another accident where someone was injured or killed because of a bad repair and you could be held criminally negligent. They don’t teach you that at tech school.
@@vehcormy friend sold his mustang he won from a CZcamsr and it was half assed rebuilt. I appreciate all the work you do repairing these cars.
How you don't have a million subs already is mind blowing..you know your stuff sir..good job!
I’m shocked this many people want to watch me work 😂
I have never done any body work but I still enjoy watching a professional do his thing. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
I don't know why the comment line isn't coming up on my video wassup@@vehcor
One of very few probably who are willing to do this type of work in front of so many. Clearly demonstrates your values and hard work ethic. You do great work my friend. Both body work and video content.
last episode of the year thanks for keeping me entertained all year
No problem! Thanks for the support.
Scott, I'm shocked: You used the scraper for its intended purpose when you removed that foam! 😁
When you use the tool wrong enough, eventually it becomes the right tool! 😂
Hate it when my supervisor is on my back all day... Great job Scott!
Always barking orders or whining about completion times...
I miss doing this stuff so much. But thank goodness I can live through you. Happy New Year Scott & Company.
I've used flange tool your right
Dry humor + great rebuilds = Vehcor (& Mr. Spotty)
@ 13:13 T shirt provides all the clues necessary to conclude that "The supervisor has been here before....!!!!" 😆🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the backing vs overlap discussion. Makes sense to me. Very informative Scott, thanks! Why do I feel like there aren't any commercial body shops putting in your level of effort to get it done properly?
And the reason that door was a service part instead of being used on a new car was that seam sealer. The robot screwed it up, and instead of scrapping it, they just threw it in the "parts" bin. The painting gnome gets to fix it instead of the factory workers...
What a super build! Thanks for all of the wonderful videos. I loved the videos where you explain specific things, like cars that were damaged for more severely than they appeared. While all of your videos are teaching, it’s fun when you zero in on a specific subject. I am think of the knock sensor you did on the pick up truck a while back. I appreciate the things you point out and do like painting under the hinges and replacing things that no one will ever see. To me that’s why you are the most honest repair channel I’ve ever seen. I’m trouble shooting your brake & rotor replacement hammer. I think mines out of adjustment Scott. Happy New Year to you and yours. Looking forward to your 2024 updates. See you in the next episode!
I am going to try and stop and explain more details about the builds, many people also seem to like it. It is just hard for me to stop, I get focused on the job at hand and just keep going. That brake job hammer is proprietary technology, there are knock offs but nothing even comes close yet. 😂 Happy New Year and thanks for all your support!
I'm always pleased to watch Scott do his thing and the sarcastic narration is worth the wait.
I have to say I'm surprised by the viewers who think they can beat him at his game. Over and over again he proves you guys wrong.
I'd be happy to consider buying one of Scott's rebuilds. The biggest hold back is they are generally sold before he completes the rebuild.
Fridays are always nice since I found this channel a long time ago. Happy New Year Scott and the other viewers here!
This is why I watch your channel, actual tech advice, not licence plates floorboards and bondo.
The small details make it right. You've got this one done right for sure!
Good one Scott.
Happy New Year Scott
Happy new year!
When you were taking the door off I was waiting on a comment about a blindfold. Lmao 😂
Great sense of humor! Watching you, being a perfectionist, I never want the average shop to repair my car!
Nothing better than seeing that lip on the end of our piece
As a body technician i can tell you that that's how i would it done it too. Unfortunately at a body shop you can't do it that way. Per manufacturer especifications you have to replace the hold part, especially the inner but again you did a great job.
Best and most entertaining repair videos on CZcams 😎
I was gonna say the supervisor was all over you on this job.
Love your attention to detail when you do body work. Great work on the Acura !!
Your attention to detail and efficiency are amazing. I'm trying hard to copy you. Thanks for all the tips Scott. They really help.
Paint under the Hinges!.....
Better than Factory!......
I LIKE IT!!
Thank you Scott for your content for 2023. Happy New Year to you and your family.
No problem! Happy New Year to you and yours!
I've learned so much from these videos. Watching a master at work 🍻
Hope you have a Happy New Year Scott and wish you all the best from over here in the UK

Awesome as usual! Good luck with HR!
Really tidy & efficient job, & look forward to the next video 👍
Looking forward to it!🙂
Hope you like it! 🥉
Great job.
Happy New Year to you & your entire family.
Sleep on the couch that the dog sleeps on much? Scott and crew thanks for the interesting and amusing content. Happy and Healthy New Year!
Yes, I thought the bed was mine but she seems to think it should be hers. I might as well sleep in the dog bed, less hair! 😂
It's a lot of work however Scott makes it look so simple.
Amazing like always
When you were lining up the scarfed in piece I was thinking, I bet he enjoys these types of rebuilds. Not a whole lot of heavy lifting, huge pieces to be manipulated in place etc. Unlike the ones where you have to drill out 7804 spot welds.....
Yes, I have been spoiled with the light hits that get totaled these days. I never got to do work this light before. I’m glad I did all the hard work when I was young and invincible! 😂
Excellent..detailed, responsible craftsmanship!
Feliz Ano Nuevo. What a learning experience watching you always is.
Great video, a joy to watch a craftsman at work!
Love watching some proper repair getting done, and always making it look so easy. Big Up!
Happy new year Scott, thanks for sharing, educating, and entertaining us, week in and week out, 😊🇮🇪
Excellent as always and a Happy New Year to you all.
Regards,
Excellent as expected.. Very educational..
Thanks!
Scott great job on (A )pillar, happy new year
Quality work for sure !
Thank you! Cheers!
Hysterical.. I cant even get a decent set of seats for my Nissan Frontier and you manage to get some hella obsolete parts pretty easily
Great video enjoy watching keep up the great work
Again a good start in the weekend. I like your videos. It allways looks easy but i now for shure it needed a lot of experiance and knowledge.
Happy and prosperous new year.
Congrats on the 200K!
Appreciate the skills😎 and the snarkiness!
Happy new year from the Central Coast of New South Wales Australia.
Just came across your channel and I really appreciate your skills!!
Scott, you are a Master craftsman!!
Best in Class builds on the tube! Great work Scott.....I believe you could rebuild a car Blindfolded...lol! Keep up the Great work educating us.....Happy New Year!
Thank You. Wish for you continued success and prosperity in our new year.
Hau'oli Makahiki Hou (Happy New Year) from Hawaii! Love to watch an artist at work.
I say it in every video but you are definitely the best in the business. Can't wait until the next video. Happy New Year Scott.
good video , thanks
If i ever get to try this. Im going back to harbor freight, buy more of them mini me vice grips. Too cool. Awesome tutorial
I can’t wait 🔥
🥇👍🏻
Happy Friday, Scott!🍻
Another fantastic video. You must have really upset the pizza lady who appears to have sent you to sleep in the dog house🙂
What a video😊 very informative thanks a lot
Hey Scott, the way you figure out how to save money on your builds you are a maths genius. Oh what was that I hear from the haters, it’s not maths it’s math 🙄 what ever. Anyway another 30 min + of pure entertainment, good job Sir 👍🏻
Mathematics is a plural. Therefore, the short form of mathematics is "maths", also a plural.
@@markanderson2904@Vehcor yes yes yes you are of course correct. Now let’s dig deeper though, Math plural (US) Maths plural (Cambridge university Uk) is also correct. Hence “what ever” in my comment.
Hope you are not one of Scott’s haters are you Mark?
@@robertmoss9468 No, not a hater. Except that I tend to hate the haters.
Well done as usual and probably better than new. Amazing all the sealers and paint that is sprayed where you will never see it. Just dip the whole thing is rust preventative.
Nice almost ready at my house/shop starting on the cheap end.
I really like your attention to detail i enjoy watching your content also
Thanks.
Happy New Year Scott and Family.....😎🍻🥂💥🎆🎇✨🎉🔥🔥❗❗
Happy New Year from Pekin Illinois
Happy new year, neighbor!
Happy New Year from Queensland Australia.
Happy new year! You get to celebrate a day before us! Let me know if 24 is any better than 23. 😂
@@vehcor Just the same, I think.
Hello buddy Happy New Year !
Happy new year!🎊🎈🎆
Another good video as expected. That door definitely looked like a kid put the seam sealer on. Probably better than mine that why I mask mine because I know I'm a klutz with seam sealer. I still would like to get a painting gnome from your Amazon shop. Have a good New Years.
I mask mine as well. Happy new year!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Same to you!
Thanks!
Thank you and thanks for your support.
When you got a German Shepherd, I have one too and I know what it's like with your blocked t-shirts. If you got cloth couches or cloth interiors you have German shepherd hair everywhere. When I seen your back I had to laugh cuz I knew what it was. Other than that, good stuff. Interesting 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Awesome videos great job
I knew about the oil filter junk honda used years ago i use wix or Napa Gold same manufacturer and mobile 1 in my engines
9:50 I see the shop supervisor's been sleeping in the laundry again.....
nice I work at Honda factory in Ohio I do the sealer love the videos
always great videos love watching them all . wondered if you were gunna mention the dog hair :)) napping in the dogs bed ?
9:00 Scott likes to live/work dangerously 😁
When your door looks like that you know for certain it was 5:00 on a Friday lmao
Before a holiday weekend! 😂
I was wondering for a very long time how people cut these corners without potentially cutting through the inner structural pieces. Thanks for the simple explanation 👍.
You can also use an oscillating tool to get in there.
@@vehcor Thanks for the other tip, much appreciate it. Happy new year.
Ronalds Mcdonalds wig 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 cracks me up
15:56 Not just at Honda, it's ALWAYS expensive to "get a little piece"....least in my experience......cab fare, dinner, drinks, a movie, it adds up!!!
Looks more like you rolled in a ball of fur 😀 Those experts seem to know what they’re talking about!
Good not too rush fit n finish
laughing my ass off at the amount of fur on your shirt....definitely shedding season. just buried mine a few days before Christmas, and i miss the fur tumbleweeds
another great build 👍🏾 question has mr spotty been terminated
How do you secure the backing plates to the body before adding the repair piece?
Yes would buy a car from you all day long, but I`m from Canada 😢
I have sold cars to people in Canada a few times!
Best repair in on you can see when done
