The ability to print a record, any record, and this guy chooses “my 3d printer sucks” 10/10
Never let down on the April fool
Yea but on the other hand printing vinyls right from the slicer after dropping mp3 into it would be cool
Me 3 seconds into this video: Wow, this is amazing, how did they manage to get that print resolution?
Me 4 seconds into this video: Wait, what's today's date?
They got me for about 5 mins before I realized the date lmao
@@sacric1de that's impressive on a 2.5 minute video
For me it was more like:
"Wow, this is amazing, how did they manage to get that print resolution?"
"Oh fuck when was this uploaded..."
This is possibly the best April fool I ever experienced in my whole life! I love it! Great job! 😂😂😂😂
I am sure some audiophiles will still present this as the whole truth in years to come.
i thought it was reall, it kind of sucks the audio but maan I lked it
"hardened nozzle for music such as rock" is just perfect. This is something that would be super cool to actually be real!
Also tungsten nozzle for heavy metal
They got me at "no digital audio format can ever be the quality of proper vinyl"
Obviously you don't give credit to the _warmth_ of tube amplifier either 😅
(Seriously, music listeners with "golden ears" used to be able to _hear the difference_ between CD and analog)
@@kimmotoivanenthere are differences in the audio played from vinyl when compared to CDs, such as cross talk and low end compression and expansion. It's these defects in the sound which are missing from digital audio, which audiophile miss; even though digital is more faithful reproduction.
@@Mjbeswick faithful to which? The actual recording or to the music itself?
That's actually not a false statement technically speaking, an analog signal is a continuous line of uninterrupted phisical data while a digital one is composed of numerous samples of the original analog signal meassured every (T) seconds, thus making it a discrete signal, which means, is a series of snippets of the original signal so close together that we can't, at a glance, detect the information loss.
The fidelity of the signal deppends on how close to the original analog signal is or how close are the samples from one another, that's called a sampling interval.
The reason why analog recordings may sound bad or "low quality" is because analog players reproduce every single variable, from wind interference to dust and grime in the record or tape.
The only way to play an analog and make it sound as pristine as it can is using a completelly clean record and play it on a vaccum sealed from every external influence, which is unrealistic.
@@A1998GatewayPCSame can be said about digital formats.
I love tungsten filament for heavy metal 😅
I woke up today and thought: "Oh no, 1st April... Day of the bad joke..." And the first "prank" for today is this. Really... It wasn't that bad 😂
the pronouncination of "vinyl" is an extra level of perfect.
Huh? Sounds right to me
@@monster2slayer The speaker is using the /ɪ/ vowel, like in "win". It's typically the /aɪ/ dipthong. It absolutely sounds like he's not a native speaker...which I suspect is because he's Czech.
@@ToastbackWhale oh yeah i forgot that english is a nonsensical language where letters barely meaning anything.
@@monster2slayer You aren't wrong, but I'm also not sure what that has to do with accented speech.
yes he uses the czech pronounciation of vinyl
Guarantee you someone with no social life is gonna find a way to actually print a playable vinyl and I'm absolutely here for it. I'd do it but I gotta go vacuum my lawn, so someone else do it.
I wouldn't be surprised if you could actually do it, just needs non-planar printing and very low layer lines, or a WIDE resin printer
@@denisflorian2431 or just print verticaly like a lithophane ^^
I was able to do this a number of years ago. I printed cylinders in vase mode, and encoded the mono data on the radius dimension. A 8 inch tall 4 inch diameter cylinder could store about 10 seconds of 10khz bandwidth audio (spinning at 500 rpm). I had a friend help with the software to generate the G-Code. The files were massive, and it didn't sound particularly great. The limiting factor was the positional resolution of the printer. We also used an optical laser displacement sensor to read the audio, which had some issues. But it was relatively cheap.
I absolutely LOVE the lyrics. I laughed out loud at the rhyme "...nechápu proč, filament je kvalitou krvácející moč"
Thank you Prusa Research for another gem.
I was so excited and then I remembered you guys fool me every year around this time lol
Great work 👍
Prusa, you've outdone yourselves. Bravo.
I can't wait to print my first record. Since I don't own an XL yet, I will need to print a 45 rpm single. Are those available?
This joke video somehow better then a lot of real videos about 3d printing, thank you, It’s really cool and funny
That is exactly what I wanted, thank you so so much :) I immediately sold my house and ordered 500 Prusa XL. Say hello to the newest Record Label in town folks.
Expected shipment date: April 4th, 2404.
@@daneverhart7649 Still faster than expected 😆
Damn, the songs are actually good :D
April 1 is always awesome. Thanks for making me smile today
The best april fools joke I've seen by far
Few days late to the game here so April fools wasn't on my mind lolol this was great as always hats off prusa!!!
Wonderful April spoof. Love it
The Thermoplastic People bit was next level, so good!
Bro this is so good. I like calibration and the fact that there are singing about prusa printers 😂
Those tunes are Lit .. great Job, making the day just a little bit brighter :)
Love it - well done Prusa Team
I was taken! I realized as soon as I clicked the thumbnail, but I clicked the thumbnail in amazement 🤣
1st of April 🙂
You guy are legends!!!!
Just love this, perfect for early April.
heheh just spend a day with this idea inside my head... good one guys!
Thanks for the reminder of what day it is!
This one got me good.. I sent this to a handful of friends before realizing.
Damn you totally got me for like 50 seconds 😂
Almost got me to order the XL. 😅😅😅
Those songs are flawless
I saw this the 31st of March at 11:55 pm from Australia, therefore this is legit.
I am getting my LP printer, and then print some high quality headphones. Thank god for the audio player feature too.
Der beste Aprilscherz! I love Prusa ❤
They had me in the first half..... ( first 2 seconds ). Great April fools!!
Great April fools!!
the jokes on prusa this is probably their best vid in years
richtig selbstverliebt der typ, jedes mal aufs neue
Hahaaa! Very creative! I almost bought it! April fools!
Well, this year's was pretty good. I wonder if the team at Prusa that make these ever goes too far and mid-way through say to themselves, "wait, that's actually a pretty good idea"
👏👏👏👏👏 Well done, Prusa! Well done.
best April update ever
Thank you for this.
It is maker content at its finest,
Absolutely perfect. I downloaded record and try to print on my MINI. But it seems to be bigger than printable area. So I manage to resize it. So it seems the sound is little compressed.
You could print the record, then toolchange to a groove carver
yep - just my thinking. But how to do both sides? I'm sure its doable, just its beyond my skillset lols.
@@Shannon-Smith print sheet with fixed track texture. Forget sparkly colours and carbon fibre lookalike-ness. Maybe (with perfect first layer) it could actually be playable?
What a nice update
That they make real music for this is just amazing XD I LOVE IT
And only today, beginning of April. Nice idea!
Mit dem SL1S können damit in Zukunft bestimmt auch DVDs gedruckt werden ;-)
At fist I was thinking it's theoretically possible with a 0.01 nozzle in a spiral print. But that would take a week to print, and I saw the date 2 weeks ago.
I wish this were actually possible. Having an affordable way of cutting your own one-off records would be huge for indie musicians.
Absolutely brilliant. If only...I already have close to 7000 albums, this would be a dream for me.
The best printer upgrade ever! April fools or not, do it!
The first april fool joke I have seen today and it is really a blast!
Instantly downloaded the music of course (because I dont have a record player and only a tiny mini^^)
That joke was pretty awesome!
Cant wait for more releases of the Thermo PLAsticpeople ^^
Very well done!
We will see. Remember last year? Prusa delivered what they said on April 1st. A spool of hexagonal filament. I still have mine here.
This was nice, thank you.
The music is so good I actually bought it
You sneaky sneaky son of a... You got me this year 😂😂
Ok, this is the one to BEAT for next year's April 1st.
OMG I didn't even consider it was a joke until the "my 3d printer sucks" song. LOL best April 1st (3D printing) joke ever!
I've never been so let down by realizing something is just an April Fool's joke, it would be super cool if artists could independently manufacture their own records in small quantities! But then I was skeptical and checked the date. I also originally thought that the comment about nothing beating the sound quality of vinyl was just marketing talk but now I recognize it's just a well placed joke.
😂😂😂 They had me going for a little while until they said convert your printer into a record player then I remembered it's the first of April 😂
alright, it's early, I haven't gotten my coffee, you got me
Finally, we can have square vinyl!
I'd actually love this.
This actually just made me think of printing a picture vinyl. Linkin Park has an amazing 1 coming up, I bought a non picture version, but I could print the picture version and hang it up with a motor turning it.
at least Prusa goes down with a smile
😂 I love the idea that your printer can be a record player.
Now I really want Printers's Paradise on Spotify.
Good one!
Where can I find the nozzle changing part shown on the XL…? That’s an amazing idea!!
All I can say is awesome!, edit then I woke up and realized that i'm gullible and now sad. You and linus tech tips did a great job this year!.
LOL, thanks for the laugh today! This is going to make it extra hard for you to top it next April 1st ;)
Now this is a good April Fool's day prank.
This April fools broke my heart, make it real, please
I just printed my first record. When I play it backwards I can hear secret subliminal messages form Josef Prusa himself! So cool!
Brilliant!
5am, just woke up, and the first good joke of the day.
Now to try to obtain a copy of the As[pen Daily Planet
Does PrusaSlicer allow you to customize your scanned albums via modifiers like a mix tape?
we need a full release of printers paradise on spotify hahaha
awesome !!!
I kind of wonder if you could print it in resin.
Not only did I look this band up on Apple Music. The app autocompleted to what I was searching for.
Jokes on them, this was already done 11 years ago, just search "3d printed records" and you can hear how lofi it is. Still it's amazing it's even possible.
This year was a good one, but it has to be a little bit more believable next year.
You got me all night one I wasn't expecting it.
Do you have an option to print 180gram “vinnals”? Are Bakelite & lacquer/shellac materials coming soon? Gonna go look for a 3D printable Vintage Gramaphone turntable or maybe a Clearaudio Statement…
And here I am watching this on April 10th thinking how cool it was 😅
Wish this wasn't a April fools joke. Would be so cool to print your own records
Accurate sound reproduction needs really high amount of detail, if I remember correctly microscopic levels. Current consumer printers can't really do that.
Awesome!
Bloody brilliant 😂😂😂
Best April fool ! 🤣
Legendary
I only have a mk4. Do I have to scale it down? Does this change the pitch?
😂great video! From the Thumbnail I was fooled. Thought "how!?" And then realized the date.
Very nice. I would like to listen to Calibration ❤
Haha great idea :) I like the "My nozzle is clogged song" best :p
good one 😀
Soo good! Next year I want to see one where they hype the printer as a free energy device with some excentric basment scientist babbling about Tesla and pyramid power and the quantum vacuum.
