  • When literally one of the biggest collectors on earth asked John for a Countach, he sprung into action to not only find the perfect 5000S, but to get it into prime driving condition. Here's the story. Enjoy.

Reminds me of the time as a kid in 1981, our teacher was driving us back from a swimming lesson, when I spied a Countach in the parking lot. I begged her to stop but she would not. When she dropped me home, I walked the 2 miles straight back to the pool, yet the car had gone.😢 I never forgave that teacher to this day, still a sad memory. That's the passion this car gives to me!😀

Thanks for sharing your love for the Countach. Back in 1987 when Chrysler bought Lamborghini, I grew up in Bloomfield Hills Michigan and the #2 man at Chrysler at the time (Gerald Greenwald) lived in the subdivision across from mine. He had a son who was friends with my younger brother, so one day I was at the house when Mr. Greenwald pulled into the driveway in a brand new Countach. I got to sit in the car, close the door, push that clutch in, move the transmission lever. I will never forget the experience. Have loved the car ever since...

I live 10 streets from Curated and I know John. I actually installed the audio system at the store, we had to run audio cables on top of all those expensive cars. I walk by almost every day on my way to the grocery store and it makes me so happy to see my favorite cars in there. I sometimes stop by and take a look and say hello to everybody there. John is always on the phone and Jorgy always worried about something lol.

  • @pointblankeloquence9578

When I was about 5, my older brother handed me an upackaged white hotwheels Countach in a store, and told me to put it in my pocket. I didn't know what stealing was back then, but I did it. I would play with that car non-stop for years. It was white with those wheels that have the three lines on either side and are all flat chrome. I went to a car show with my dad later, and saw a real white Countach close up! I got my picture next to it. Later on, a neighbor sold his Porsche 944 and bought a Countach replica. It looked terrible, but he let me sit in it! Since then... I can't seem to get them out of my mind. Whenever I think back on when I was the most confident, excited, encouraged and empowered, I see the Countach. I believe the inspiration for its design came from God, to a little boy, Gandini, and he channeled that inspiration into this design. I'm a deeply spiritual person, and this sits right with my heart. What's your Countach story?

The reason why its got a bad reputation is its an all engine all noise car, if your trying to use it as a normal car like a testarossa, its not going to work, I mean for god sakes when Harry metcalf took his across europe to the 50th, he and his wife put in ear plugs, and the factory people, the people who built it were like, you DID WHAT?! as its not a car for everyone, and most people want grand tourers
I mean think of it this way, the corvette outsold the cobra 3 to 1 back in the 60's, the testarossa, probably like 10K plus to about maybe 3, the reason, those cars were all engine, and most people want comfort and speed, not speed and no comfort
as its like a rock concert, unless you really like the band, your gonna hate being right next to the stage, and your gonna wanna step back a few paces, like the countach is being right next to the speaker, while the grand tourer, is a few paces back where you can enjoy the music, but its not giving you hearing damage and a headache.
hell I read though the literature of a doctor who opted out of buying a miura and bought an islero instead for that very reason that he kept for 30 plus years because of that.
hell one of lambos biggest fobiles was that for the longest time they didnt make a grand tourer up until recently with the Urus, despite that always being in the background in the golden era of the company.
and being the better car to have than that badly engineered, badly designed, and badly thought out miura that was always taking off, catching fire, or having oil pressure drops around corners, while even pressing a finger into the super thin bodywork dents it
like all a countach is, is just a fixed miura with a new body made out of fiberglass and carbon kevlar, and the engine movied the right way round and engineered in such a way that its not killing itself everytime you drive it.
which is part of the reason why the fact that the price has been jacked up so much for a miura by people like you for one is so god damn stupid, you could build a replica of it and it would be the same if not better in every way.
and why people dont do that instead of spending millions on a real one is beyond me, like we really need a lamborghini pursang Miura replica one of these days.

But the more it gets limelight the more probability of some ending up in being garage queen/investment pov, to celebrities with no car knowledge, to reckless owners and god knows where else. Sorry if my point is obnoxious but I just cannot imagine that, as they are pieces of art. Loving the content & stories though!

what i can't also understand is why this channel only has 27 000 subs and this video only has 20 000 views... I've only seen a countach only once in my life (and it was recently) it was turning left and i was behind it. I didn't recognize it at first (and it was night) but when i realized, it was like "oh my god! That was a Countach!" i don't know how many there are here in Portugal, but i'm certain that i can count them with my fingers. John Temerian made me look diffrently at Lamborghini. Everyone has that Top Gear episode when an Evo defeated a Murcielago in a track, BUT, not everything is about speed. Cars are like sex, it's not about the orgasm, the orgasm is just the prize, but what makes you enjoy it it's the romance, the smells, the chills, the butterflies in the stomach, it's the feeling that makes sex so much greater (aka love)
