- Craig Einhorn's recording of Milongueo del Ayer for his Choros CD has become a hit in Tango clubs all over the world. It was quickly made use of by San Francisco Tango dancer and instructor Homer Ladas. A few years later it was used by International Tango Dance stars and Tango teachers Chicho Frumboli and Juana Sepulveda for their performances at Tango Festivals in Croatia, Italy and other countries. Their videos using the track can be seen on CZcams as well as more than 100 other videos using the track with Tango dancers from Russia, Germany, Venezuela, Japan, Italy, Ukraine and many other countries. On that 2005 recording Einhorn played all the instruments. This video from 2011 is a rare performance in a group format. Einhorn arranged Milongueo del Ayer differently for this performance thanks to having Art Maddox on piano and Tom Bergeron playing the syncopated melody on sax giving the milonga a whole new feel. Milongueo del Ayer was composed for solo guitar by Abel Fleury in Argentina in the 1940’s. Specifically it is a milonga campera, a country milonga, which has a more earthy, natural feel with roots reaching back to the origins of the music and dance of Milonga. In fact, the title itself means, “Milonga of Yesterday”, so even in the 1940’s Fleury was reaching back to the source of the style which can be traced quite clearly to the Cuban Habanera. Special thanks to Alex Krebbs and Hannah Poston, Tango dancers, for agreeing to perform with us at the Water Music Festival in Ilwaco, Washington at this performance on October 14th, 2011.

Do you know this version of mine? czcams.com/video/ZIy7afIh7jk/video.html
Super! Bravo Los Gringos!!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Me gusta mucho
🥂🍾
It was danced to many times at the Alternate milonga in Portland
Hi Slim, I'll have to get myself to Portland to dance to my own recording, ha ha! This live version isn't the one that you hear at the milongas. Here's the official video of the recorded version, czcams.com/video/ZIy7afIh7jk/video.html
Bravo! good on ya Craig!
Thanks Larry!
Kinda klezmer-esque beat with the bass, drums and sax.
Cannot figure the steps
Have you ever taken Tango classes? This is a milonga but Tango dancers also dance Milonga.
