  • Automobilista 2 allows players to massively customize the games FFB by using a custom FFB txt file. in this video we take a look at one of these files and how it transforms the driving experience when playing the racing simulator.
    As said in the video the games default FFB is perfectly fine and in my opinion offers more detail to drive from than what is found in some other simulators having said that its really fun to try custom files and see how they change the experance of playing the game !
    Here is the file used in the video

    WHAT have you done ..... for the first few laps my brain was screaming at me then it all seemed to sort itself out. As you said this file turns FFB backwards and once you get it things go VERY WELL. I am now about 1/2 a second faster at almost every track I drive in most every car i usualy drive. Also I agree EVERY game developer needs to understand as users we understand what we want regarding FFB way more than they do so let us set it our way.

    Nice that you got around to this subject, and like you said, good, bad, realistic, non-realistic, heavy, light, the main point is that each user can adjust it the way they like it to have fun. And if you want more or less of this or that, just ask on the forum and you’ll get some advice. For me personally, I like to adjust each SIM FFB the way I like it in each SIM so when switching between them there’s not a huge difference, which helps maintain some integration between them, and again, more fun.

    Great video GM. I did download the profile and it is a lot of fun on my CSW wheel base. However, the car (GT3) did feel a bit unconnected to the road and I did miss some detail and the feeling of the weight of the car in the corners. The rear of the car was definitely easier to control as you said, definitely loads of fun. After trying a few other profiles, I ended up coming back to the AMS2 ‘default’ setting, which works best for me with the set up I have.

  • @charliebeckey6269
    @charliebeckey6269 Před rokem +2

    Nice video GM. There's a real world GT3 team that competed in the nurburgring 24 hour race last year using a "steer by wire" system. It's basically a "custom" FFB system where the algorithm filters or adjusts the incoming signal from the steering rack transducer to output steering torque. Analogous to a sim racing FFB system. They said there are certain drawbacks compared with mechanical linkage but also some benefits. I don't they they are taking any input from car telemetry though.

  • @Rosaslav
    @Rosaslav Před rokem +19

    I wish AMS2 would provide the same level of customisation of controls as it does for ffb.
    It is weird that they are above agerage in ffb customisation options but below average in controls customisation options.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  Před rokem +10

      The FFB customisation was due to Project Cars 1 and 2 putting it in due to World of mass development having people say they wanted to be able to customize FFB so SMS then put it into the game as an option. Also Rfactor 1 allowed quite a high amount of customisation and Pcars / SMS has heritage with the original Gmotor engine.
      The reason controlls and controler setup is still a bit janky is due to that being how it was in Pcars 1/2 and it being quite a time consuming thing to redo , so given that it "mostly works" as it is thats why its probably not top priority.

      It feels wrong becuse the loading up is basically back to front to a real car when at low speed and the self aligning forces are rather over the top in many ways though it's ballenced with the car and does not overshoot.
      This is a modified version of the standard Rfuktor the normal Rfuktor is more like a real car / other Sims in many ways.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  Před rokem +2

      I think even Defult+ is rather over the top in some ways , with a high end DD wheel I'd probably just stick with the Defult FFB as its not overactive. Mind you i can see with a bit of damper and filter on a DD defult + is probably fine as well.
      I think its fun to be able to play with different FFB and interesting how the custom ffb can affect things , Id agree lots of the custom ffb settings people have made are totally mental and certainly not "realistic" in the slightest however as i said in the video this specific file ends up being really fun to drive with regardless of what's right or wrong.
      Most important thing is that games give people the option to play around with things , oh also its quite likely that a ffb file that feels supper messed up on a DD might actually end up working quite well on a T300 or G25 given how those wheels often don't even line up with what the game puts out in the first place/ have intrinsic hardware limitations.

    does anyone else get really harsh ffb when you lock up the tires? idk how to get rid of it and it always spins me out

      I'm on VRS direct force pro, and if the car in a slow corner power-slides, and end up in a spin, there occur a "deadly strong wawe" of ffb. It could be nice to locate that force, and had the possibility to adjust it with a slider..

    I find it strange how AMS2 is apparently so much better than PC2 when similar weaknesses in both games are apparent and this FFB file is just a continuation of the file already created for PC2.
    They share the same engine so not entirely surprising.

    We ain't all stupid. It's obvious all you SIM racing CZcamsrs are contacted and paid by these companies to give good reviews. You all release the same shit at the same time lol.

      LOL I have literally had death threats from AMS2 and ACC fans for being critical of there sims.... CZcamsrs tend to be posative about stuff becuse they will get more subs and add revinue as you will see videos I have made that are more critical get way less views than videos where im just showing off something I enjoy.

    Pureblood simulator does not require (and should not have) any ´ffb adjustability´ apart from gain/strength. There's torque created by physics of the car that the game is requesting from the steering wheel, and that's it

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto Před rokem

      GM doesn't even have a driving license in real life, yet he talks like you're not educated if you don't think fake effects should be pushing into ffb lol some of us have more hours in real cars than he has in sims, its more natural for us to feel what we would actually feel from the steering rack in real life, and use transducers to fill in the gaps if needed
      He will complain that I said this, will talk about his 2 track days and how that means hes a driver lol

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  Před rokem +7

      Aside from the idea of a "pure blood simulator being absurd" the problem is
      1) You can't feel G-forces / G-load in simrigs liek real life - (no motion rig does G load properly and the ones that come as close as possible cost a fortune and are cumbersome)
      2) Not everyone has high end DD wheels that can match real cars FFB 1-1
      3) Driving simulators often have imperfect physics
      4) People are also using simulators as a "game" and even within E-sports people are not looking for Literal ffb and yet would like to feel what the car is doing still.
      5) Simulators let people that otherwise could not drive drive cars
      Trying to do everything literally can be a good thing to shoot for and can be a great framework and it certainly has its place especially where tight budgets are not as much of an issue.
      but when the simulator is fundamentally abstract even in the best case scenario this mindset and approach ends up falling apart.

      Yeah shame on Reiza for allowing users to make their own custom FFB files that fit the ever expanding list of wheels. Instead they should have just been like everyone else and if the FFB doesn’t work for you or your wheel well that is just too damn bad.

      1) you know track driving shares almost nothing with road driving even go karting has way way more relevance.
      2) Transducers don't produce a range of forces with the resolution required nether do 20k motion rigs , specifically for conveying grip at the limit and specifically for balancing a car. I do like transducers though and have them on my rig they add a ton to immersion.
      3) Sims like AC1 , AMS2 and wheels like the Acuforce wheel with sim comander or addons like iRFFB show that its possible to bridge missing information when driving in a sim through FFB and that at a minimum players should be able to choose how they have there FFB.
      4) You repeatedly straw man and don't actually address points at hand making your argument ( if you even have one outside of not enjoying the channel) very week .
