    He didn't receive backlash from sparring with the reporter, he received support. The reporter in question had been trolling Leon for most of the season with condescending questions, denigrating articles, and obvious negative bias. In the midst of a bad streak, Leon had had enough of his crap and responded in kind.
    And everyone LOVED IT!
    You can call him dirty but it's interesting that the best players always have a bit of an edge to them. Also, to be clear, the guy who tackled him and sprained his ankle didn't get so much as a two minute roughing penalty so...maybe he's just pushing back against the a-holes and bullies.

    You should have included the clips where he is on the receiving end of dirty plays.
    The failed arm amputation attempt by Pietrangelo in the playoffs.
    But ending with people think of him being one of the dirtiest players in the league conveys a great impression. thank you

    Great video! Cheers

    Edmonton media can be quite tough to deal with at times, I can think of plenty media scrums where they are looking to stir the pot. This brings us to the "pissy" comment......this was asked in the midst of a stressful losing streak where the media seemed relentless in giving the team a hard time by asking tough (and sometimes unfair) questions. He stood up for himself. Good for him. Media needs to be put in its place sometimes in sports. Always looking for a story, but how they go about it is up for debate.

    I think Leon has a awesome talent for shooting directly, also a third eye for the perfect pass! That characterize him best from my point of view. It seems he is made for Mac David's partner on ice. If they both were on ice no team is able to handle both in so far that they don't score. The back sending , I think, was an educational sign, making his training more professional, so he became such a successful player. As a German I am proud to be his fan!

    A young prodigy from a hockey family who went on to live a good life in america with a semi-famous girlfriend? this is literally exactly what I thought his lifestyle would be lol. also saying he recieved backlash is straight up just dumb, he recieved waves of support because he handled that interviewer (who very obviously was trying to antagonize him for a headline) with relative grace and calm.

    192 pts. in 29 games played, would explain why the pucks are already in the nets before the full backswings are completed.

    The skill of him and 97 together are something you don't see every day. But, if him or Connor decide to go, I'm sure we'll still support both wherever they go. We're a classy city.

    7:38 He faced a little backlash? From who? Are you from some alternate reality or something? I've never heard or read of even the slightest backlash against the bottom feeder of Jim Matheson.
    Mathson is a slug, who is a self-serving opportunist, of absolutely zero importance. If he were to retire tomorrow, Edmonton fans would throw a parade in celebration.

    What a terrible, skewed view. @3:28 you highlight "maddeningly (sic) inconsistent" but neglect to highlight Draisaitl had 25 goals, 70 points, second to McDavid.
    A press person calling him pissy? Was that Draisaitl causing controversy or the hack repoter? There was no backlash in Edmonton on Draisaitl. Only on the reporter who we all know and dislike
    Oh no! He bought 3 cars! He makes 8.5 mil a year.

    • @NHLLifestyle
      @NHLLifestyle  Před 2 měsíci

      1. You can still have a lot of points and still be inconsistent. Two things can be true at the same time.
      2. Look up the definition of controversy. I never said he was at fault.

    • @shaundewolfe5955
      @shaundewolfe5955 Před 2 měsíci

      @@NHLLifestyle For 1, we'll agree to disagree. All players have hot/cold streaks. From the point of view of most fans I know and talk to, there wasn't too much frustration on him during cold streaks. More frustration at the whole team.
      For 2, maybe I shouldn't have used the word controversy. I did it because you titled that section "controversy". In your speech, you said Draisaitl received backlash for being called pissy. That was the point I would like to correct you on. No fan gave or provided backlash. The "reporter" was the one who was viewed negatively. Heck, even Klim Kostin called the "reporter" out in one of his first interviews.

      Perhaps, but it’s a stat kind of world.
      He comes across as a pouty player when things don’t go his way and he coasts off the ice on line changes. Perhaps too much ice time? Needs more intensity and energy level consistently and he is deadly when on his game.

      Ur absolutely braindead bro. if anything he's underrated because people like you on the internet. He's the best passer in the NHL (voted by the players) who can also score 50 at will. His vision is off the charts. Sometimes players on his line arent even ready for the puck because he throws some backhand pass through 3 defenders which almost no one else in the world can do. He's also built like a truck. Has that Zetterberg/ Crosby thing where he's super hard to knock off the puck.
      Oh and did I mention he's 3rd ALL TIME in playoff points per game, only behind Lemieux and Gretzky?
      Maybe watch an Oilers game and then talk.
