- On this episode I share with you what it's like to visit the Maldives and stay at the Kandima Resort, which is situated on one of the largest islands in the Maldives. A scenic 45 minute seaplane ride takes you from the capital city of Male to the Kandima Resort. You'll fly over 100s of atolls and islands. Once you land at Kandima, you disembark onto a floating dock where a boat takes you to the resort jetty. A hundred yard walk or so to the lobby and you're warmly greeted by staff who will get you checked in and to your accommodations.
Speaking of accommodations, there are a few choices, we stayed in one of the coveted aqua villas. In this video, I show you want to expect at the Male airport, the trip to Kandima and what it's like staying at this amazing resort.

The food is also good. They have so many Indian and sea foods. They set up a proposal ceremony for me and it went well. Another down side is, you will miss that place after you spend a week. It's so easy to feel part of the community and hard to leave. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for watching and for your question. It depends a lot on the destination you are coming from, time of year, the meal packages you pick, etc. They can accommodate various budget types. I would contact Kandima directly and chat with them, or visit their website. All the best, Mike

So glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching. Yes, there are sharks near the villa, even close to the beach. There really are no islands nearby to go to. We went to the other side of Kandima, which was interesting, totally difference water. Once side is an atoll, the other side I am guessing the land was at the edge of the open water. Cheers, Mike

Thank you so much! I think the weather is pretty much the same year-round since it is so close to the equator. The high is in the high 80s and the lows are maybe high 70s with about 70% humidity. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Mike

We’ll be there in March for our wedding and was wondering if you could provide advise on how to get the drone in the country. I believe you need a few permits? The island also has a no drone policy. Are they flexible with this?

Yes, there are restaurants on the island, but they are expensive. You may want to contact the resort and consider doing a hybrid dining option, where you go to the buffet for breakfast and lunch and then the restaurants for dinner. Hi thanks for an amazing video. I have a couple of question if its okay. How is the beach is there and stones in it and how is the seabed is it sand or is it stones and corals. We have a kid so she doesent hurt her feets

Thank you! I found out later that it is not allowed, there is a nearby island where the police headquarters are. I had no issues at all thankfully, but it is something to do with caution. Thanks for watching, all the best, Mike

I’ve read some reviews about rats and AC not working. Any of that a part of your experience? I’m booking to go to the Maldives in December and I really like the look of Kandima!
Rats? No, I never saw any. It's an island, so I find it hard to believe as the only way they could get there would be by boat and the only way to get there is by plane, which doesn't even come ashore. As far as the A/C, I will admit it was not as cold as I would have liked. During the day especially, at night it was fine, but again, not as cold as I would have liked. Kandima really is a wonderful place, so much to do and it's nice how large the island is, unlike so many others. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Mike

I'd just ended my holiday with Kandima and I must say, regretted staying with them. Its not worth the money. Check out my google review for it.
@@thugII Sorry to hear that. It is very expensive to visit any resort in the Maldives. They have to generate their own electricity which comes from diesel power, which I don’t have to tell you has Skyrock at it in price of late. They also have to desalinate their water, that two comes from diesel power. Not to mention that all the food has to be shipped in.
Are any watersports and other activities included or is it all extra $$$?
There are a few things included, like boat ride to go snorkeling, but most everything they charge extra. They do have a lot of water sports though, it's amazing!
Any indian restaurants in kandima maldivies? What about sunset views? At pool side?

Can you confirm the food options I saw someone said buffet is mediocre?
The buffet is pretty good, not the best I have ever had. Breakfast and Dinner are better than lunch. They do have several on-site restaurants as well. I had a couple of amazing meals.

Why it’s too expensive from airport to Kandima ? For a round trip it’s about 1100€ per person ! And by domestic it’s about 370€ one way ????
I was told the pilots who can fly sea planes are in really short supply, so they have to pay them an extraordinary amount. It's also a fairly long flight, about 45 minutes. Visiting the Maldives is certainly not inexpensive. I do appreciate you watching thought. Cheers, Mike

How much was the seaplane? i saw online $550
For us it was included in our hotel stay, but that may differ depending on the resort you select and your stay package. The parent company of Kandima owes the airline, so I guess they’re able to do stuff like that.
