Here for sale we have a very special Gibson Custom Shop Handpicked Late 50's Les Paul Reissue. The good people of Guitar Guitar made the trip to Nashville to handpick 81 Maple tops from a choice of 1200 blanks, only selected were the most unique looking to make sure each guitar was a stand out. Matched to this was a lightweight (not weight relieved) Mahogany body to accompany it. This example is serial GG 074, and features a Faded Tobacco VOS finish.
This guitar features all of the other additions which make Custom Shop guitars so special, such as True Historic Gold Top Hat knobs, a True Historic Pickguard, Nickel Aged Hardware, a Nylon Nut, Cream Binding and an ABR-1 Bridge with Light Weight Long Stud Anchor Tailpiece. A set of Gotoh locking tuners are currently installed, withs no drilling required. The original Kluson Reissue Tuners are included in the sale
The neck is crafted using Mahogany, carved into a profile directly from the celebrated Collector’s Choice ‘Carmelita’ guitar. This is a shape that is widely agreed to typify that mythic late 50s carve perfectly, with a relatively thick feel that is just slightly slimmer than a typical ‘58. The fret wire is the same Medium Tall Nickel-Silver Jescar type used by the Custom Shop of all of their True Historic Spec late 50s necks. Vintage-correct, durable and giving an authentic feel, these types of detail are what typify this run of guitars and make them 'Holy Grail' affairs for fans of Gibson's finest.
The pickups are Gibson’s Custom Buckers, perhaps the closest anyone has yet come to bottling the elusive magic of a vintage PAF humbucker in a contemporary model. The long tenon and single piece body work with these pickups to bring out the full bloom of your notes, with a level of sustain that would make Nigel Tufnel proud! This guitar sounds exceptional.
