Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana” short film is the fourth of nine short films for the “Bad” album and captures the high-intensity live experience of one of his concerts, complete with a guitar solo from guitarist Steve Stevens. In 1988, Diana and Prince Charles attended the London concert of Jackson’s Bad World Tour. As a result, Jackson wanted to be as respectful as possible, taking the song “Dirty Diana” out of the setlist as a result. However, when the two met prior to the show, she convinced him otherwise.
“I took it out of the show in honor of Her Royal Highness,” Jackson said during a 1997 interview with Barbara Walters, sharing that Diana asked him during the meet-and-greet before the show, “Are you going to do Dirty Diana?”
“I said, ‘No, I took it out of the show because of you,’” Jackson continued. “She said, ‘No! I want you to do it. Do it. Do the song.’”

At the time I had a breakdown and cried for a month but y’know, it’s Michael, come on. I was outside his hotels since I was 7/8 years old. He shaped me. As he did millions of not billions. @@mjvybz I think you misunderstood me. MJ's songs on Thriller and Bad, as well as Dangerous, were quite good, and they still represent excellent music to this day. HIStory was an okay album. Blood on the Dance Floor was so and so. Invincible was just a disaster. A lot of musicians lost the magic as the 80s faded away, and it's not unique to the music industry; movie magic is basically dead too. Michael Jackson was absolutely brilliant in the 80s (his Off the Wall album is crap too btw). In the 80s, everyone was pumping out hits everywhere. It's not like that now.
