  • This is not a review of the bike park. This is just a little taste of my first experience at the park. Between having to work that night and some serious delays of the shuttle due to an injury, I didn't get enough time on the trails, to post a review. I didn't even get a chance to ride all the trails.
Before judging the trail system, I highly recommend watching the Segment's interview with Steven Ford, the Park director. I expect the park is only going to get better from here.
My initial impressions were definitely mixed. There is a little more climbing than I would expect for a downhill park. The trails often have really good flow sections broken up by loose, unsupported turns. The dirt varies considerably in quality, so its hard to predict how your tires will stick. It is a little of a mixed bag.
The best trail, for me, was rolling Acorn. This was super fun, almost pure flow. I am sure I will like Granite falls, but we did not have time to check it out. Coyote is also solid, and it will probably be even more fun hitting all the side hits.
I recommend checking it out for yourself. I will definitely be back for a full day soon.

I appreciate all their work but the flow is so off. It's weird because the manager has worked on Ted's and Ted's flow is super good

Great video! Was there before they opened and that chute at 8:23 was too sketchy. Hope they work on that and the shuttle so I go back.

I'm happy we're getting more stuff built out in SD, but the price is not worth it.

Nice video. I rode out there on Friday. I agree with you on some of the trails regarding peddling and some boulders which are not in the best places. When I was there my first 3 shuttles had only seven riders, by the end of the day the truck was about half full. My favorites were Coyote and Sage Shoot. Had to bunny hop a rattler on Sage after coming out of a big berm.

I was curious how traffic would be after the initial opening days. I didn't get a chance to ride Sage, or granite falls, but I did like Coyote. I will definitely be back on a weekday to get more runs in before I completely judge the place.

I'm surprised you never dropped granite

It was closed due to the accident, and then we ran out of time. I barely got home in time to get to work.

Do you know any good bike parks in L.A. or are north of L.A.?

No. Not that advanced. I'm just glad to have a solid shock

It's really hard to charge $60 a day when Vail lake only charges $10. As a SO CAL moto/MTB lifer you should pay attention to what's going on.

I think $30 to $40 would be a better price, but I know a lot of the cost will be going right back to building more trails, another way up for emergency vehicles and, eventually, a chair lift. Still, I agree that $60 is a little unreasonable considering the current trails.

Been wishing for a chair on Vulcan mtn. for years. With plenty of room for multiple lines. I'd pay $60 all day for that. Big Bear without the drive. 🚵‍♂️
