Very wrong advice.
I thought like you, despite being best performer I got fired twice. I lots hope and was crushed, became alcoholic and after suicide attempt, parents took me to village.
After 2 yrs I settled down came back to job market begged and bribes HR to give me a job, it worked I got a position paying 20 lpa CTC for around 6 lakhs bribe.
I stopped acting out, kept my superiority and my disdain for the garbage colleagues to myself, licked every ass that I could get.
And I stopped working pretty soon, now I'm team lead in a new startup my CTC has jumped to 50lpa .
Btw I got the HR jerk who exploited me at Oracle fired.
Bitched about him after leaving my job at Oracle.
With recordings he was so screwed prolly he had to pay the higherups for clean exit.
The more you work and the better you work, the more you will be hated.
Always inspire complacency.
We are employees NOT naukar, will work exactly for 30% of the amount paid as anyways 70% is lost to taxes inflation etc etc.
Getting the job done while keeping seniors happy and showing how your complacent and slipshod red taper attitude is making the company more munny keeps the C SUITE happy folks.
Client isn't you goal, shareholders and C suites happiness is your goal as an employee
My advice to any youngster who has newly joined employment in IT after college - “Lay low for 6 months. You don’t need attention. Narcissists will take some time to show their true colours. Wait and observe everyone in the office, people who seem nice may not be so nice after all and people who are a little blunt could be nice people without social skills”.
Any experience in mechanical field sir? I'm joining a mech company soon. These apply there too?
@@waltdisney9729 yeah they will apply in almost every office. All the best 👍
@@KP-qk6ld thanks a lot 🙏
thank you for sharing your experience, i think this advice is pure gold and applicable everywhere.
Thanks Sir. I will remember it
Being an introvert I always struggled to build a rapport with my colleagues, thanks to highlight this
No one wants to build rapport with you also, even the extroverts are in same page with you. There is no added advantage being an extrovert in work place. Its all about being aware and getting the job done.
Maybe these things are known to people but putting it in a flow and step by step format is highly appreciated. Thanks 🙏🏼
Summary:
1. When starting a new job, you must recognize that you are not the hero but a supporting character, so focus on understanding the key players.
2. Avoid constantly boasting about past achievements when joining a new team, as people may lose interest, and it prevents them from accepting you.
3. Trying to make too many changes or suggestions early on can be detrimental. Before proposing radical ideas, take time to understand the existing processes and ecosystem.
4. Building good relationships with colleagues should be a top priority in the first six months, along with understanding the business and its dynamics.
5. After establishing rapport and understanding, focus on consistent performance to gain trust and credibility, allowing you to share ideas and suggestions for improvement.
crisp and bulls eye .. Thnx for this great summary
May not work In result oriented jobs... but the video is very important for jobs outside india
This is a great video, I am actually undergoing similar situation and I am unable to understand how to move forward. Can I share my situation for a solution. ?
One of the best video… should be played in every induction ❤

In three simple words - take it easy 😅
Forget job, this is much more relevant when you are joining your family business. This video covers every mistake I did and learned. Wish I knew it back then
Hahaha 😂 This are the most common mistakes that people make. Even I also did. Really a great topic fo discussion. Now a days I got the tatics it's better to be calm and silent when you join a new company and to analyse it's cultural and understand it's requirment then to act accordingly. Most of the time the mistakes we do is to think or adopt the previous organisation culture and make a start with a wrong f way. Every organisation have motto and different working culture so anyalizing it first then to adopt it is the key.
Completely agree with this statement as well, I have seen people try to change the process and show dominance on the first day without even trying to understand the local org culture , nevertheless they were displaced in very short time,
Once you join a new company
• Be patient and spend time understanding the local culture
• Unlearn and learn , the methods you carry from your previous organization might be of no use
• Don’t be biased in any manner and blend with people
• Slowly try to push your methods and ideologies whenever needed only
• Gain the trust !
I just bumped in to your channel & that was just a Bull's eye as clear as Glass . Long after so many time I crossed over a professional coach who is so crisp & truly blunt on the face , Thanks for the suggestion , You reminded me of one of our corporate coach who guided us officially & unofficially when ever we needed , of course that gentleman has retired. Keep up the good job.!!
Ohh wish i found this earlier, i acted in over enthusiasm not over smart just over excited and enthusiastic about working and making impression that i ended up making a ethical mistake wrt how to operate in tht environment. Costed me my professionalism.
Second mistake i made was to take the critisism too personally and fear of making the mistake again and becoming introvert.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I understand sometimes these things may happen. Good part is that you have realised how to make things happen in a better for future. My best wishes are with you.
I don't agree. This is the story of all service based company where old or senior people don't like new ideas and proposal but if you join product based companies then surely you will be appreciated for new ideas or suggestion either comes from your past experience or new one.
Absolutely not
Having worked in several product companies and in different types of projects (crisis, from scratch, sustenance etc etc), all above points are applicable to product companies as well.
Yes service based companies are very fragile. They don't adjust
Not all service based
He said dont bring radical change all at once. People presently working in that culture are smart people and they are already aware of those options.
Personal experience: the most oversmart guy who borderline bullied other newcomers was welcomed by existing old timers as on eof them and enjoyed many perks, whereas the hard working, eager to learn newcomers were harrassed like donkeys with more work.
I'm from Asia btw.
Maybe he kneew them personally before.. Or bribed them somehow so that hot the old ones on their side
@@ebenzershroff5354 nope
I was also bullied when I was new, but I think it is better when I am bullied when I am newcomer over sudden bullying after spending time in company. Bullying helps newcomers stay low key and understand the culture first.
I have subscribe because I really needed this.. I do all this wrong things and changed 4 jobs in last 12 months🤣🤣🤣
This an excellent video, underlying the fact not stepping over other shoes in a new job. There is some onus on the new company and new team management to understand these challenges to help the new comer to have his transition as smooth as possible. This attribute makes great team and great place to work, as well as the work culture.
Absolute right @albusdumbledore6498 Thanks for sharing these important points in your comment 🙌
Thank you sir, for your guidance.
Made a serious mistake of leaving on time... this was considered a big no, no. Paid heavily for this!
What is so wrong about leaving on time? We have other commitments as well and we cannot promote a toxic work culture where you will get used and thrown out when necessary
@@mageshgopi3594 I was working for Chinese Malayasian boss. He asked me " do you think we are fools.(something like that)"
I wish you had made this video 3 years ago but its never too late I'll remember this throughout my life.
this is an awesome channel, thank you for giving such high quality stuff .
This is the most valuable video from your channel!, thanks
Priceless wisdom sir.. there is so much to know in our work lifes and outside of it. And you are the mentor we always wished were around to guide. Many thanks dear nice listening to you. 🙏👍
Thanks for this information ❤
Thank You for explaining. Couldn’t realised this in past 16 years.
100% agreed Sir. Thanks for guiding. Made few mistakes while joining new company.
Thank you, deeply thank you alot Sir!
These are golden rules... I have seen people doing these mistakes and then had to leave..
So true!
One of the best video… should be played in every induction ❤
Very much needed sir .. 🙏
Adaptation is primary in any new role. Agree..
Wow 👍👏, perfecto, correct & agreed, u have hit the nail on its head .....
Very relevant points
OMG...where you have been so far. I 100% agree with what you say. You are teaching soft skills that no one else will teach you in the career.
Keep posting
Great! I mostly observe these, and it really work.
Excellent! Thanks for your feedback skmplanet 🙌
Sometimes this is because of miscommunication from Higher ups and HRs. They say that you have to lead, manage etc. This makes the role itself artificially inflated than it is supposed to be. Accurate role assignment and communication is important otherwise such conflicts are inevitable.
Extreamly helpful tips!!!
Great content Anand as always! So fan of you 👍
Wow.. I m so happy I landed on this channel.. I did all this and suffered and now I'm meet brothers and sisters just like me.. It's like a family of like mind people.. We need to make a whatsApp group and share this and maybe form a new company whee all this don't happen
You are terrific.
Thank you for valuable information sir
This is the most ideal way to get settled in a new company. What an idea sirji!!
I completely agree with these things. Even i did some mistakes when i joined new company 😊
Thanks a lot
This is so true, i agree this was happening in my last company initially i use to overshare. I realized they had a set up system.
Depends on the work culture. Here in India, most income companies have toxic work culture, there are exceptions but in a such a populous country, it is too insignificant.
Thank you sir!
You are welcome Vikram 🙏
Great life learnings Sir. Every one should follow your tips for going a better job.
Thank you. Sir.
Thank you Anand sir. I will keep in mind all the words you said as I'm going to join Deloitte next month. Looking forward to joining the next phase of my life. New place, new team, new opportunities 🙌.
Very good sir.. well said
From last 15 days back I join a new organisation I was making it almost opposite of this video ohh God... I have to unlearn to learn....
good points, but if you are joining to handle a crisis, then you really have to pick at the fault lines and start implementing changes.
thanks sir.
Wow. Nice suggestions 👍🏻
Really well said
mistake no 3 is what ive been doing from past 4 years and relationships is something in suck at im HUGE introvert and i jsut do my work n get out i dont like socilaization n stuff with work collegues by which i become a target of being bullied or a target of being chucked out
Same
They are thinking you are fake and phony thats why bullying you.
I already made the first 2 mistakes. I need to improve myself. Thank you
Thank you sir ❤
Very helpful! We see many ppl come to have a conversation only to get their work done or benifit.. If someone asking for any favour Better to ask for an email looping ur boss to avoid any trouble in future
Thank you sir! This was so helpful, definitely I will make use of this strategy when I land in my next job role
Glad it was helpful! Wishing you the best Rajkishore 🙌
This is actually true and logical 👍
The real situation is far more complex... The organization, organizational dynamics along with intent, inclination, affiliations (external n internal) and objectives of different actors making influence at workplace needs a much deeper understanding.
This is true. Old team members do not tolerate MBA's and accept new joinees easily.
Tnx Anand bro Plz make more nd more content especially u can get questions frm comment that need to address
I faced the second point when I told them choosing new technology but didnt forced them. But they took it negatively. Anyways I found out that the managment was immature themselves. They could have rejected suggestions very politely. If we are giving suggestions in a polite manner, its there responsibilty as well to reject suggestions polietly and appericiate the fact of improving the product!
Demoralizing someone on very small mistakes creates a toxic culture in the company themselves
Ya same happening
That is why there is escalation. He is your manager not your friend.
@@Satarupa902 does that mean suggestions are not allowed ?
@@bhavyadhiman1096 call an official meeting looping key people whom you want by giving a heads up. The person in video enlightened me with one point. Perhaps your suggestions are already discussed before and got rejected. If it is the case, they will give the reason in mail and decline meeting.
@@bhavyadhiman1096If they ignore the mail and stop responding i.e neither accept nor decline no respinse, perhaps they do not want to disclose their internal matter to you, so in that case stay chill and continue doing your job. Find a new team where things are more transparent.
Well said sir
Very high-value video. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful Vincent 🙌
very helpful sir. thanks.
Thanks Surojit 🙌
Thanks for this video
Excellent video..
Totally agree...
Very informative in short time
Very Nice advice
Whatever he said it's true, due to this mistake finally after 6 month leaving the job.. my 3 days only left...
Me too.. I left on 30/6 as I face so much harrassmen for being sincere quiet and hardworking😭 in a bpo.. Now I'm changing field
Beautifully explained sir
Good suggestions sir..
Hi Sir , I've faced all the similar situations within MNC when I was fresher I did mistakes in the very beginning due to its consequences I'm facing lot of issues , like no project recommendation, I've lost faith within the company same is the with the company, U believe these are my last months in the company.
I've been on bench with no learning process since last 6-7 months.
Please do guide me how to step up from this phase
Great video Anand sir...wish I knew these before joining my last job :) but never the less I learnt it the hard way
Lol same here. Hopefully in my next role I'll be mindful
Loved it❤
Excellent video Sir.
In my case after joining the company i was trying to change some of the practices they have been using, but initially everyone was stopping but now all are adopting to the change. Sometimes if u think that something needs to be done strongly then i suggest u do it!
I did same mistakes on my first job change...feels shamefulness now😅😢
Sometimes dressing much better than others may backfire.
Guru ji❤ love from warangal
I agree to certain level on this but may not be applicable across all type of jobs.
Especially in management consulting big 4 firms, they exclusively bring advisory consultants to advise /educate clients with industry best practices.
These are lesson for me
well said sir!!
Thanks Pradeep 🙌
Excellent explanation very nice
man you are too good .
I was doing wfh for virtually 2 years. I failed to build rapport because I was afraid being target for being bullied and cultural diversity .Now due to hybrid model everyone are in Bangalore same office. Do I need to travel from Chennai and stay in Bangalore to build rapport??
Thanks
Very inspiring & valuable contents Anand 👍- Kirankumar Galagali
Thanks a lot Kirankumar 🙌
yes, it happens
Very valuable information 👍
Thanks a lot Nikhil 🙌
U r just awesome
Very Informative
Thank you so much for sharing these valuable insights. I myself committed such errors while joining a new team. Luckily I was a fresher and I could play that card. With experience I have also now learned how to be a better team member.
Very good information
100% true.
True .
This is exactly the area where I have concerns with WFH model, you can't build rapport with team members virtually. People who already have a rapport while they were working in office always have an upper hand.
That's true Kiran 🙌
Why do you want to build rapport with them? That is not going to increase your salary.
@@CareerTalk Thanks. Could you please make a video on how much performance vs rapport matters. People tend to favor people who they have rapport with and the mistakes are trivialized. No matter the performance, the trivial issues of the other set of people are blown out of proportion. So, what is the point of performing and going an extra mile with hopes of getting appreciation/promotion or simply to do good work. Thank you so much for your valuable insights so far.
@@LEONARDO-xs2ke Coz we work in teams, unless you have a good rapport with team members you are not likely to get support when needed. You cannot isolate yourself and expect positive work environment. You will learn alot when you work with others, they are happy to share knowledge
@@Kiran-eQVsuKMVLQz7eNbd still doesn't increase salary. Getting help is a basic thing your team should do. In return you can help as well. Idk what kind of people you're working with
