David Bowie 'Space Oddity' remastered 1979 vocal version

This is footage of David Bowie performing 'Space Oddity' on Dick Clark's 'Salute To The Seventies in September 1979. On the TV show, Bowie mimed to the 1969 version of his song. It always seemed odd to me that the 1979 version of the song wasn't used instead. Perhaps it hadn't been recorded at that point. Bowie's voice had matured considerably in the 10 years since the original version and when the 1979 version of Space Oddity was released in single form in 1980, the sleeve carried a still from this TV performance.
So it seemed fitting to replace the original audio for this performance with the later version of the song. Not so straightforward as it initially seemed because the new version is slower overall and Bowie uses a different vocal phrasing in many parts. Also one line was repeated a few times in the new version so I had to find a way of incorporating that.
I had to make many micro-adjustments throughout to the speed of the video in order to make the vocals synch with the picture. It's still not perfect but I've done what i can to create a convincing match. I've also removed much of the green tint on the source video.
Now the image and the song are a better match than what was originally broadcast (in my opinion). A mature version of the song sung by a mature Bowie.

Dear Mister, you know how Bowie was, if he wanted a 1969 version well he would have done 1969 version. Yes and we got to see his amazing voice change through the yrs. From tenor to baritone. Towards the end I could hear a bit of bass resonate in his voice. God only knows what he could have done had he lived another 10 years. RIP sweet angel❤🎼
