Building a SOUND BAR V2.0 - Speaker Build - by SoundBlab

  • This sound bar was designed around 2.5 inch full range drivers and 3/4 inch tweeters. The left and right enclosures are sealed. This sound bar is intended to be used with a suitable subwoofer or the accompanying 6.5 inch subwoofer build, also available on the SoundBlab website as a build plan. You can also connect this sound bar to an AVR or to a subwoofer with 2.1 amplifier output.
    (You can buy this Sound Bar build plan and the 6.5 inch Subwoofer build plan as a combo and save on the combined cost).
    The goal was to design and build an elegant looking system that can fit into most home environments. When following this build plan, it can easily be built with everyday woodworking tools by someone with beginner woodworking skills. The construction follows butt joints. Finishing is up to you and you can follow my build exactly or opt for an enclosure that can be painted in the colour of your choice. I made this design for my 55inch TV, but if you want to adjust the length, you can just recalculate some of the dimensions to suit your TV.

    I think it would be interesting to place the outermost drivers at a 45 outward degree angle to face of the soundbar to 'play' with any possible acoustic benefits of reflections in the room to enhance any left versus right audio. Just a thought.

    That sound bar looks nice but very complicated build. It sounds great over my PC sound system listening to it in your video but I think I would want to hear one of these in person before I would spend the time involved in the build. It would be nice if you could do some calibrated microphone software test and show the frequency response results on the speakers you build. I am sure you would of had to of done that to determine the correct crossover network to use on your beautiful sound bar.

    В общем весьма интересный проект, хоть немало спорных технологических решений. Перебор с кроссовера деталями и клеммами, там T-plug более чем достаточен.

    • @RENOWATIOR
      @RENOWATIOR Před 3 lety +1

      что с кроссовером не так, всё правильно он сделал, между СЧ и ВЧ на 3kHz у него провал, кроссовером он компенсирует тем самым выравнивая АЧХ.

    Possibly a bit of a dumb question but have been binging on your videos the last few days, really well done btw, but wondering which i should be most looking at in terms of quality and bang for buck (though quality is of more importance than the price really.) and more importantly to fit my space, specifically the space i will be moving into in 3 months. Right now have decent active bookshelf speakers for the TV and music. No real interest in home theater system as more about music and tv is secondary. TV area is in the end of a fairly long and skinny open plan apartment so wondering if that lends itself more to the soundbar and sub combo, or if I'd be better off on the transmition line or small 3 ways you've designed. As the designer, your opinion would be of great value. Cheers and again great videos all the way back to the start.

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  Před 3 lety

      Thanks man. The sound bar and sub actually sounds pretty good, and I have been using it now for a month or so. it also plays music well. The bonus with something like the small 3-way speaker is that it gives you a better experience in terms of soundstage and imaging if you can give them some space around them. You should also pair them with a good amp.
