Nice to see this feature is returning from Super Mario RPG since Mario vs. Donkey Kong was lacking it.
It's a shame for fans of the original game. But Mario VS donkey Kong is a GBA game and the GBA has a very bad sound chip so the New remixes are just better so I understand that Nintendo didn't do that
@@joopvanhedel1372 Screw the technical standpoint. And "very bad" is subjective. Just because it's not CD quality means it's automatically bad.

TBH ive seen so many people who grew up playing Mario RPG or TTYD always mentioned so much how great the soundtrack was and how nostalgic it is. the same cant be said about Mario vs Donkey Kong

@@erasmotamayo1937 what makes M vs DK memorable is the amount of humor. Mario, DK, the toy marios, etc voice lines were comedic and hilarious. Along with the puzzles, music, death animations etc made it funny and enjoyable. The remake is amazing with great music, amazing graphics, fun new levels and mechanics, however it was lacking the humor the original had.
This one badge saved the game for me.

Ooh, I think I know why it's a badge and not a setting. If it were a setting, people who bought the game for nostalgia would immediately turn it on as soon as they could. Making it a badge means players new and old have a chance to hear the remastered OST. That way, if they decide they like the new music, the developers' hard work on the remade OST doesn't go to waste.
Should’ve been an option nonetheless. Because I can’t hear the original music at the very start of the game if I wanted to. What they care about is if the game is purchased.

Does the badge work when you open sound test as well? I want to compare the songs when I get my hands on the game.
Fun fact if you have the nostalgic tunes badge equipped go to Journal and then the audio library then you can listen to the old song Versions aswell instead of the new versions hope it helped

Yes. You can only listen to the original soundtrack over the menu, if you have the badge equipped

From all of the samples I’ve heard so far, I’m leaning toward having the badge on. At the same time though, I am curious what the new music will be for every area. It’s going to be annoying to take it on and off all the time.
I’m planning to play the first file with the new music and a 2nd file with the og music.

I just picked up this game for my Switch yesterday at Walmart used to have the GameCube version back in 2006 for my old GameCube but I might give this a try as I like GameCube soundtrack better i didn’t like the new soundtrack but the gameplay overall is great just want the GameCube soundtrack for the 2000s nostalgia I was 13 when i first played this game on the GameCube in 2006 after playing Paper Mario 64 the year before in 2005 on my old N64 .
Does this apply for the battle music as well?

The new music was the one reason why I had no interest in purchasing this game, but the fact that they added this badge with the ability to have it immediately is brilliant foresight on their end.
They knew that there would be a lot of fans of the original like myself that would be extremely deterred from purchasing the game because of the new music.
Letting you switch to the original GameCube music by equipping a Badge is actually super charming!

Definitely a good feature! A similar take with other remastered/remade games like Super Mario RPG and Sonic Colours: Ultimate, especially with the latter having most if not all of its original soundtrack better than the remastered. I never got to play the original game, but have heard great things about it and its soundtrack, so I can’t wait till I get my pre-ordered copy which I will claim next time I visit the mall!
Hot take: I prefer the new recreations scores over the original. Ill admit though that the score in chapter 3 is an acquired taste since they changed the whole mood of the chapter music.
Got to the great boggly tree and my ears were bleeding at the 'new' soundtrack. So glad this is an option!
That's a relief...I wouldn't call the new renditions bad, but they're way too busy and for many it's hard to hear the original beat
Rogueport having that loud horn
Glitzville having two whiny flutes
Sewers having this annoying bell
Only regret is this does remove the battle music for each chapter, which is such a great addition
What about the classic sfx?
When the OST for this game does release, and I hope it does, I honestly wish that it would have a rerelease of the originals, similar to how the physical release of the Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire OST has the music for the original Ruby and Sapphire.
The fact that is basically free too and not like something special you cant get until the end of games

The original music is super good. But I haven't played the original game and the music remixes look like they are even better. So I probably won't use that badge. Good thing it's an option, most remakes don't do this
