Sonic Riders Zero Gravity: All Special On-foot Shortcuts

- When you either play Super Sonic without any Rings or have the rare Attack Power-Up, you can access the shortcuts that has a barrier or springs places around certain spots on the track, also Astral Babylon and Mobius Strip doesn't have those special shortcuts so you see why I didn't showcase them.

it's because the CPUs have a superior turning ability compared to a human player and they keep their speed when they turn but we always slow down when we turn also if super sonic doesn't have rings his base speed is slower than other base speeds even the fly type characters which is slow but is faster than him plus that shortcut isn't that good the grind shortcut is better

7:12 is the coolest thing in the whole game but it's so bad that you actually lose several seconds by taking it
I suppose the main benefit was the easy rings which could net you a gear change if you're lucky.

I mean you’d have to utilize them since gravity power drains the rings faster so a lot of elements have to be used to get first place so

I’m convinced that these “shortcuts” were made exclusively for the benefit of Super Sonic. The Dash attack item thing is way too rare.
Just use angel/devil
Angel should net you an attack item at least once in a race but it's not guaranteed
@@jninja1764It's also the easiest way to net the attack item if you lack super sonic or the Big Bang gear (given it costs 9000 rings to buy)
I mean it depends I think. With super Sonic you'll still always be slower back on foot compared to when you're on a gear and you take a shortcut with an attack item.

0:50 is actually called "Nightside Rush."
A good few of these are definitely optimal as Super Sonic only since they give you rings and on some that few but useful count goes bigger.
The fact that Super Sonic can use all of these means his viability shoots up. Still worth it to get the Rings and properly race, but there's some strategy to running out too.
I mean if he was still an omni type like in Riders, maybe he wouldn't have needed those shortcuts so much. But it's the whole change of game mechanic that wanted this so can't be helped I guess.
This was a really good racing game when I was younger, and honestly I enjoyed all of it and I kind of wanted Sonic games to be like this

There is a funny glitch in Meteotech Sparkwork where if you use a Big Bag gear that allows you to do a special
Use the gear at the starting activate the special go as fast as you can DO NOT SLOW DOWN
Once you hit a bouncer right next to the open door there is a chance that you witch ever character you pick will slide at the door
The door will start opening it
And you will able to fly across the race cross but your stuck there...FOREVER!!!

For shortcuts these things if I remember correctly were very impractical to use even if you had the opportunity to use em at all

I didnt knew that you could use them as Super Sonic walking mode
I was always curious to know what would happen if I managed to take these shortcuts. But now when watching this video, it seems that these shortcuts were actually just meant to be an aid to the player playing Super Sonic, considering that the rings gradually decrease and the player runs the risk of spending much of the race on foot.
Sonic with the Super Sonic skin sounds a lot different when jumping off ramps, those “Yes” and “Woh” sounds like another voice actor
He's actually saying "Good" when he lands, but no one can be blamed cause I myself always heard the same, cause it's practically impossible to properly make out what some of the characters are saying when they land because of all the noises.
It's just like regular Sonic, I always thought he said "Wahoo !" whenever he lands, but he actually says "Yahoo !", it's because of it blending in with all the noises that I always thought he said "Wahoo".
I noticed that some of them don’t really help in gaining positions.
Crimson Crater is by far the best shortcut since you can bypass the whole first up climb section of the track.
That’s true.
The spring shortcuts are actual shortcuts while the track-specific shortcuts seem to be mini-games to let the player build up more resources to get back in the game.
I love this game! I'm glad I got the game again.

They put so much effort into something nobody would see
Some of these are amazing
To be honest, the start lag and end lag of the non-spring shortcuts make it kinda fair, because if there was no lag then that would be pretty OP.
But you only find this bonus when you're in 7th or 8th place, if you're any higher you very rarely see it and if you're in the top 4 you literally never get this "on-foot bonus"
Honestly the bullshit you have to do to see them makes them underpowered even before you see how much they hurt you to take

astral babylon does have spring type shortcuts that can appear over certain babylon emblem holograms if you are in run or attack state when you move over them.
Aside from that, would you be interested in playing a modded version of zg? Attempts to enhance the experience. Have a build together already if you wanna try it out

I didn't know people can mod ZG, I have heard of Riders Tournament Edition but not for ZG.
@@BluRacer7 It's more or less a sister project to Sonic Riders TE. We're not quite as far along with balancing gears quite yet, though a lot of mechanical changes have been made.
We've added stuff like boosting, the ability to cycle back to any Gear Change you have the rings available to purchase, Gravity Dive Rings giving GP, Slipstream to all gears, Innate character type shortcuts, an entire rework to drifting, and other things

That’s because you need to complete Babylon story to unlock the 80’s & 90’s boulevard maps. For me, I complete that story & finally unlocked the 80’s & 90’s boulevard! 😅
I remember how when i was younger and played this game I would always come in last cuz my brother would win in first and i’d just be running into the wall

This makes me wanna gear where he just doesn't have a board what so ever so he runs at a decent speed. it would be just as fast as the main board for their character and allow the type abilities cause those mainly have less to do with the boards themself and more of the character plus these routes.. the main downside is that either you wouldn't be able to items or use the ring upgrades and tricks dont give a speed boost on landing
Well the closest thing we’ve got is just playing as Super Sonic without collecting any rings.
I'm not sure it would make sense for Jet to run at Extreme Gear speeds, I can see it for characters like Sonic though.

Spring routes sometimes feel pointless in terms of design choice. Am I right?
I feel like this mechanic would’ve worked so much better if they kept the old air system so it’s not just tied to a powerup
Considering you can't get those often unless you specifically have a board that makes you walk, like S.Sonic's, or have the extreme luck of getting the on-foot attack (unless you are last practically on purpose) none of these feel kike a reward nor seem really worth it. Not that much fancy ones neither and a TON of the same springboard one. Meh.

I hope someone makes a cheat which allows everyone to go through level's on foot. And i know its possible since the original had a cheat like that as well and they all still have running animation.

Because you have to either get the attack item or get super sonic and use up all your rings. It was a pain in the ass and not even that good of a tradeoff

Did that not that long ago. Sonic on foot runs just about as fast as the Big Bang gear except he can go on springs whenever. Not only that, he has an easier time going around corners than other gears too. Plus no slowdown off road. Honestly the only disadvantage he'd have is no Gravity Dive and lower Max Speed

Make sure it doesn't even help you too! Like a 1-hit kill weapon that takes 10 seconds to charge and 5 seconds to reload!

Yes there is! Which is an attack item in the game, an item that has a fist icon, and the character drops down from the Extreme Gear to attack other opponents. But unlike Super Sonic, this item makes you run at an absurd speed.

This game made Super Sonic so trash and the "shortcuts" were as good as him as a racer, damn this game did so many things wrong, should be studied as a way of how to not fix issues as a sequel
