    Здесь Самсонов победил Ма Лонга. Победил опыт, игра "головой" и прекрасное чувство мяча. Владимир отлично сдерживал атакующую агрессию Ма Лонга и при этом сам переходил в нападение. Отличное видео тех времен.

    Nevermind the scores of this German Open Final and the 2016 one. What's amazing is that Samsonov (now 40 years old) is playing in both of those finals matches with Ma Long over a period of more than 10 years, and that Ma Long 11 years later is one of the greatest players ever in history.

  • @meditating010
    @meditating010 Před 10 lety +42

    Somebody said - samsonov was not serious at first and came back and beat Ma Long - please - see the match - 9-11 in set 7 is hardly the type of score you'd expect to come back and beat the opponent comprehensively - this at a time when Ma Long was 16 - I am amazed ...

      What's even crazier is that Vlad was like 5th in the world here and Ma was like in the 100s. China is always on that next level.

      He was not familiar with Ma's game in sharp contrast to Chinese coaches who have been dissecting every aspect of Samsonov's game since 1993.I'm sure they have trained a bunch of Samsonov ''clones'' just for practicing against his game.Samsonov is only a ¨lone wolf¨ from Belarus.

    Lots of mistakes and unforced errors by Ma Long, Samsonov capitalized, but for being 16 he did well but obviously had room to grow. He is hands down the best player right now though.

    ma long was just amazing, solid backhand defense was obviously essential to build an all rounded player. but as much as a genius he was, still needed experience for the last few points. thanks for sharing

  • @lepoldbuttersstotch
    @lepoldbuttersstotch Před 4 lety +1

    That 9-9 service receive from Samsonov was ABSOLUTELY GENIUS. The fake body motion was sooo convincing that even watching it, I thought he was going to play a BH push but he changed the motion to a FH flick to the far corner, to do that in that moment 9-9, Game 7 receiving in the German Open Final....can only imagine the skill level of Samsonov, it's almost incredible how he is still Top 20-ish after so many decades. His style has never once changed. Consistency and using angles and mental games over raw physical power loops, which is probably why he's been at the top for so long without getting any major injuries (like another European Michael Maze)

    • @alberthuang4868
      @alberthuang4868 Před 3 lety

      problem with Samsonov is he is not aggressive and proactive enough and tends to counter attack rather than attack - he tends to follow the rhythm rather than dictate rhythm ie reactive and not proactive to reach the very top.

    • @danielhasson825
      @danielhasson825 Před 5 lety +11

      At 15 years old, Harimoto has an unbeaten record against Samsonov of 4 wins and 0 losses, with the first win being when he was 13 years old (!!!). While Ma Long had lost to Vladi 3 times before finally beating him for the first time at 18 years old. So to say that Harimoto isn't special at all is outright insane and incredibly dumb.

    Waldner would not get China crowd suport if he were threatening Ma Long superemacy or any China #1 player. That is for sure. At the time Waldner was the #1 in the world and many Chinese players were mimicking his style so he was the idol of the crowd. Be realistic and don't pretend Chinese crowd is more sportmanship than others. That is human nature.

    Ma Long a little fat for that time. And his service was at that time clear as a day - he does not hide any serve effect - everything was visible. Now he is not so fat, with a lot more muscles and a very difficult to read service. Nice video where you can see the evolution of a player :)
