To the people wondering why I excluded All Star from this video it's simply because non of the characters on that song r a reference to anything, they're all original characters created for the song alone.
But if u want some info out of em then here are a few
- Luigi, Wario & Yoshi's appearance in the songs do have names. Luigi is called "LG", Wario is called "W4R", & Yoshi is called " YOSH"
- Mario's appearance during the second act of the song is based on "Tanooki Mario" and he is called "Omega" created by Sandi
So
Luigi is from LGTV
The first act of All stars is based around Super Mario Oddesey, which you are in the destroyed New Donk City and the cappy hat on Ultra M
Technically, All-Stars does have a reference. The fact that specifically Luigi, Wario and Yoshi appear is a reference to Super Mario 64 DS, where they were new playable characters. And the name of the song itself is a reference to Super Mario All-Stars

What really interesting, it's Mario's name. Marco Antonio (main creator of the mod) said that Mario.exe is not his real name. His real name is "Super HORROR Mario"

Nintendo Entertainment System / NES, the console that was being promoted at the time.

Here’s a fact in the mod, during the gameplay of Mario Madness, Boyfriend’s face is visible throughout the game but when you complete the game, his face is completely obscured by the shadow, implying that indeed it is like how the ending of the game was
I was always hoping there would be a "(Mario) the music box" reference somewhere as the game is what got me into Mario horror content in high school when it was popular for a short while
Kinda bummed about it as it wouldve been a perfect game to reference for the .exe mod but its still a solid and awesome mod despite what we couldve had, such as smg4 mario which wouldve also been a perfect reference
Learning about Mr SyS’s origin is just what I wanted
Even thought I like this mod I feel like could have added Mario’s music box (it’s a horror game which I do recommend you checking out)
Plus it could be at like the 2nd or 4th world or just a bonus song

You did missed something. In the last song, at the first Bowser duel, there is a part of the song that resembles "FINAL OF PUYO PUYO" from Puyo Puyo (1992) (Also known as "Versus Mode" in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine)
Maybe to reference Kirby's avalanche which is a Nintendo game based on puyo puyo

it seems to be heavily based off an obscure Spanish Creepypasta called "Super Mario Asesio" or something like that where a man dresses up in a mario costume and goes killing with a big dagger to go missing never to be seen again except the police who investigated his house and found a SNES Console with Super Mario World running in the background

I have a theory for the Glitched pipe/start: The modified instrumental of All-Stars that plays in the beginning cutscene might be an early sign that BF and GF would definitely *die* at the end.
god damn the second and third songs based on Classified were the one part of that series that gave me nightmares (the one right before with the creepy Mario appearing almost did too)

Also a bit more on Promotion and Abandoned, both of these songs are based on a analog horror series about Mario 64 being personalized, while Costume is mostly based on a creepypasta titled “Mario Bros Asesino” where a man named Mike Robertson goes out in a Mario costume and murders multiple people.
I feel like after watching this mod and your videos I did not know there was a hole underground of mario stuff like this.

Since you cut demise ill say it - the setting is premised around the chase scene in the original game and the world 1-2 setting is also from said game, albeit not released yet.
Promotion - Stanley's appearence is actually based on the episode where luigi and peach also appear along with his speech "They didnt care, do you?"
The End - Costume's main premjse of having a knife in his hand comes from his og premise coming from a spanish mario creepypasta where someone dresses as a mario mascot and kills people.
All Stars - Ultra M is actually a reference to Mario's form in Odyessy and beyond, with Cappy eyes on his hat.
Omega is in the world of super mario 3 with a tanooki suit on.
Mario's cappy suit is enhanced when he mimics voices of everyone in the mod. Alsk he references the bah bah song in the song

Smg3 The Clone Of Smg4 Was Also Supposed to Appear In The Mod Like How Smg4 Mario Was But Also Ended Up Getting Scrapped Like Smg4 Mario
In Unbeatable there is also a reference to Sonic Mania in Bowser's part, it is almost at the end of the song but it refers to the head of the Chemical Plant in the last act where they basically play Tetrix.
Note: Wega actually was about finished considering he had a song, he just needed .xml coding and charting.

There was also a teaser for this character that was supposed to be in the mod called "mark". He represents mario but without any hair on him. His song was called "Mr Alopecia"

In Unbeatable, there's a few motifs from other games. One of the strangest and most notable is the motif of "Final of Puyo Puyo" from Puyo Puyo on the... Sega Mega Drive. Moreover it's the theme when you fight that game's version of Satan. Either that's just a cute nod or something intentional, but it's not Nintendo, and more importantly from their biggest competitor in the 80s. If I could only figure out all of the motifs used in that song, I could maybe see if there's a pattern.

Love how the MM dev team tried to put SMG4 Mario in despite not liking SMG4 in the first place. Not sure if it's because SMG4 making Mario dumb or if it's because of his content's modern state which I dont blame them.
