    what is causing those surges ?

      Not all cilinders are firing, so it idles too low causing the pump to inject too long at times, it surges to high rpm, almost stalls, repeat.

      @@NoctisIgnem wow that totally makes sense so its just running rich and lean at the same time ? Lean on the misfiring cylinder because of cold air and rich on firing cylinder because of low rpm ?

      @@maurin8117 the cilinders not firing don't generate force, so they cause the engine to turn slower causing the actual firing cilinders to sort of misfire generating a surge and a puff of black smoke
