You actually don’t need to do that, evolving symptoms early such as nausea, vomiting , diarrhea, rash, necrosis will help you spread much faster around the world. ATP boost is required to do this though. After you have around 6 billion infected start evolving lethal symptoms. The 3 most lethal symptoms are total organ failure, haemorrhagic shock, and coma.

Good Strategy: Do not evolve Symptoms until you have infected most of the people. If you do, it will become more severe and people will work on a cure faster (They will also shut down International Ports and Airports which will not allow you to get to hard-to-get-to countries like, for say, Greenland) The only symptoms you should do until that time (If they randomly started a cure) are Insomnia and the symptoms up to Insanity (That slows the cure)
