    this is the way i envisioned this should go but the other vids i've seen pull the tape up after 1 cut.. then put the tape back down and manage to get a good cut... or run 3 different lines all freehand and somehow come out with a precision outcome.

    Aha - A little heat before and after and I just made my first ever perfect seam ! SO COOL !!! - I'm wrapping an old bike frame which is a nightmarish collection of curves and angles. This elimiates having a small overlap seam that while hidden from normal view - will normally peal at the small overlap edge, pick up dust or dirt, peel back a bit further . . .etc . . . This is so much better ! 😉

    • @DanielMooreClan
      @DanielMooreClan Před rokem +1

      You don't want to cut into the car's paint. In this video - the two layers of vinyl match up perfectly in the end - he saves a lot of knifeless tape with this technique as he's using only one pass of knifeless.

    I'm confused. You held the camera at a certain angle and you could clearly see the seam. Is that not the case in real life. If I just stand at the right angle I'm gonna see a giant seam... Say if that was running the length of the hood

  • @maniacalmonster2293
    @maniacalmonster2293 Před 11 dny

    I don't understand the point of the tape. You're just overlapping the vinyl. I mean, you even pulled up the vinyl after you did the tape and then just placed it back on itself and smooth it out. so what was the point of the tape?

  • @AlexanderKup
    @AlexanderKup Před 9 měsíci +3

    1~2 years and vinyl will shrink , made a gap of void

    • @Archangel3083
      @Archangel3083 Před měsícem

      No it won’t if it’s done right. That’s why with seams it’s important to preshrink it with the heat gun for a couple seconds. The film is slightly stretched during the manufacturing process and the heat gun will remove that stretch.

    • @TonyLoewen

    • @johngibson1439
      @johngibson1439 Před 2 lety +1

      I'm confused on this process? No video shows a close up view.. How do you line the two (cutting tape) up perfectly? on top of eachother? My fjr1300 is going to be a nightmare..

    • @mikemccown2057
      @mikemccown2057 Před 2 lety +2

      There is no such thing as a seamless wrap. Even in this video when he did the close up shots at the end you could still see the seam if you're paying attention. The idea is just to get the lines of each side to line up and not overlap. I've never had to lay two pieces of knifeless tape down, only just one. You just have to make sure that you're cut starts correctly and that you don't pull too hard while going across the wrap since you're cutting through two layers of vinyl. Tons of methods, and it just takes time to learn and to feel comfortable doing it.

      different colors next to eachother, weird angles, i'm wrapping a motorcycle tank and want the curve of the side to be the og color, this allows me to cut the vinyl to shape.

      I thought that this would work, but the problem is in just a few months or so with the change of temperature outside, the vinyl compresses and expands naturally making the linear gap between the two sheets more visible.
