  • Troy Aikman to Michael Irvin TD Vs NYG 1991
    Troy Aikman leads the go ahead drive vs the New York Giants and hits Michael Irvin for a TD to take the lead.
    Troy Aikman said this was his favorite game at Texas stadium. This was the first time Dallas beat the Giants since 1987. I can remember this game like it was yesterday!

    If Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson and team owner Jerry Jones had been able to get along and stick together for another 10 years or so, there is no telling how many NFL Championships (read: Super Bowl victories) the Cowboys would have won.

    Still breaks my heart to see this, Everson in a Giants uniform. How what hurts even more...to know how much of a problem Everson was in Dallas with his attitude and his mouth. I hear rumblings in the late 80's but did not know the entire picture. I do not believe everything I read and just because it is in a book means it is true. However it is who the author of a book or column. A book was released in 1988, possibly 1989 with Dunane Thomas on the cover and the book tie called the The Decline of America's Team ...well something like that and it was written by Paul Zimmerman of Sports Illustrated fame. Well the 1986 Cowboys were on a roll one of the WORST injuries in Cowboys history happened. Standing on top of the divisions the 6-2 Cowboys rolled into Giants Stadium for a show down for first place. The Cowboys were playing very well but on aside from 1984 the Cowboys OWNED the NYG, I mean OWNED them. Up until that day in 1986 the Giants had only beaten the Cowboys 6 times since 1970. Well that day in the first quarter Danny White's career was ruined when he broke his wrist on this throwing hand. Even on that day the Giants needed the refs in their pockets to bear the Cowboys that day. In fact the Cowboys SWEPT the Champion Giants in 1987 leaving Bill Belichick on the sidelines crying in tears on the bench as Simms was carted off. Well that same year in 1987 the Cowboys and NFL Strike and Tex threatned the Vets with their pension so many crossed the picket line. Now Everson already had a big mouth in the locker room and instead of leading he was known as a bitch and moaning kind of player, be it contracts or coaching decisions made by TL. That really sucked to learn. I am not done reading the book yet. I have every book written about the Cowboys (massive library) but I never owned this book because of the title. I thought it was just about the cover boy Duane Thomas and his issues. Well I broke down and bought the book for a dollar. OMG, that book actually covers an era of Cowboys near and dear to my heart the mid to late 80's Cowboys. It covers a lot about the 1987 strike and the downfall of the team, Make no mistake for all of the bad draft picks and legendary moments "No, Danny, NO" and legendary losses the Danny injury WAS the beginning of the downfall. I have not finished it yet, I will tonight but I know it is going to break my heart because some of my childhood heroes will take a little bit of a hit. Everson did a lot to drive a edge in the locker room, as did SADLY Ron Springs in 1983 and 84. Surprise they were best friends. I will probably read a :Gift for Ron right afterwards to make me lover Everson again. Even though Cubby has sent me a lot of stuff in the mail signed for FREE the last few years it still rubs me the wrong way. In this game here he took a BLATANT cheap shot on Troy with a helmet to helmet spear shot. and it still kills me of ALL people they put on the cover when they won the 1990 Super Bowl it was Everson on the cover. Everson is still the second best corner we ever had (Mel Renfro was the BEST and NO I do not count Deion on that list...Deion is NOT..NOT a TRUE Cowboy. SPECIAL NOTE a GREAT new Cowboys book comes out in two weeks "LANDRY'S LAST STAND" by Ryan Bush. I won a copy of it so check the book website by the title of the book for more info. What is fucked up? Everson would be the first one to say the game had passed Landry buy and he was vocal about it. Once Jerry made the move Everson was upset. Which I guess goes to the adage "We can say shit because it is family but no one else can."I do have this 1991 game Brad and Dale's radio call. This is the "Is it Michael Irvin or Michael Angelo" TD call.

    • @ms.felonystrutter2472
      @ms.felonystrutter2472 Před 6 lety +3

      Deion a NOT a true Cowboys idiot. He is best known for keeping the Cowboys AWAY from the biggest comeback in a playoff game because of his PI call in 1994. Ae you a fucking joke, oh yeah you are a 90's Cowboys fan with no CLUE about Cowboys history. Also Deion is retired in only ONE franchise an uniform and that is from his years at an ATLANA FALCON. Deion more games as a Falcon than any other team. Jerry Jones (DUMB ASS JERRY) asked Deion to go into the Ring o Honor but (THANK GOD) he declined. See Deion does NOT want be remembered as a Cowboy because 1. He is NOT top 10 Cowboys that ever lived but as a Falcon he is the GREATEST Falcon they ever had. See it is ALL about ego for Deion. He says the Georgia Dome is the stadium HE built...NOT TEXAS or Cowboys stadium. Deion Sanders is a TRUE Falcon, NOT a True Cowboy. Also another reason why he is NOT a "True" Cowboy because 1. He got his ass kicked too many times by the Cowboys, especially 1992 MNF when the Cowboys made a plan of attacking him and they embarrassed him. 2. He jumped ship right to the Redskins our biggest rival.Who could NOT forget "Who would not want to be a Washington Redskin. Un turn he NEVER beat as a Redskins and Anthony Wrght in 2002 BOMBED all over his ass that day in Texas Stadium. However Deion's WORST at of all was in 1997-1999 when he tried to turn the team against Troy Aikman but Michael, Moose, Emmitt and ESPECIALLY Darren Woodson told him to knock off his shit, Troy is the leader of this team...NOT you.AGAIN, Deion Sanders is NOT a TRUE Dallas Cowboy, he is a Falcon. That's the team he identifies with most and had his best years as a Falcon. Now go learn some Cowboys history BEFORE1991. HERE www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SandDe00.htm
