  • Dallas @ Atlanta December 21, 1992 Monday Night Football.
    One of my favorite games of the run they had. They went right after Deion and embarrassed him and the falcons in their own building.
    Also after the clips the espn recap including an interview by Chris Mortensen with Emmitt Smith

      Sanders wasn’t really that good. He played so far off his man to try to get the jump for interceptions that a disciplined wideout like Irvin, Rice, Brown would always stack stats against him.

    I think this video shows more about Aikman than it does Sanders or even Irvin. Think about how many QBs were scared to throw to Sanders side but Aikman had zero fear. You also have the fact that every team knew where Aikman was gonna throw it and yet he still made plays. Most underrated QB ever.

      This is early in deion career. He was most feared later in his career. Aikman got that work from deion with irvin later in prime career. Plus irvin is a great wr. Only irvin and rice and to have qbs like aikman and mantana and young will give the goat deion sanders problems. And vise versa.

Makes me sick to think of how they've wasted the all star team they surrounded Dak & Garrett/McCarthy with and imagine at the same time Romo w/THAT line and Elliott and Cooper and Gallup to go with Witten. I've been a Cowboys fan for 50+ years, but sad to say, we will win NOTHING w/overpaid overrated Dak & meddling Jones. Even if we get Sean Payton will have to restock the O-line & get a new QB. The Cowboys went 1-15 in 1989, then he arrived in 1990 and they started winning and then a new dynasty was born when they acquired new weapons (Irvin, Larry Allen, Charles Haley, etc). Barry was good for making unbelivable plays but he wasn't a winner. He runs about 30 times per game and only breaks out maybe once and the rest of the time he losses yards so his games are like -60 yards and +130 yards.

    • @ttrain5450

      I will agree with most of what you are saying Chase. Emmitt was a good RB and did benefit off one of the greatest lines and had a great WR and Aikman just made a perfect fit for them at the QB position. Had a great TE and beast FB as well in Moose. Barry did have a HoF tackle in Lomas Brown and a decent All-Pro at Center with Kevin Glover. Scott Mitchell was mediocre at best at the QB position and they did have a great WR in Herman Moore. Cowboys had a better defense and coaching staff as well. Boys had Jimmy Johnson. Lion went through Bobby Ross and Wayne Fontes. Yea how do they stack up with JJ??? Point is though if Barry had that great O-Line, he still wouldn't take advantage of it. Emmitt was a N/S runner which is what those holes opened up for. Sanders was an elusive cut back who relied on his vision and agility. That worked out for him. He made the best out of nothing. Still managed to rack up 1,000+ yards every season and maintained 5ypc for a career. Emmitt cant say that. He averaged like 4.2ypc for his career and never ran for 1,000+ every year. Though he was still great and is the all time leader in rushing, I would take 5-7 other RBs before him. BTW I despise the Lions!!! GPG!!!!!

    • @eldersamuelwilliams9779
      @eldersamuelwilliams9779 Před 7 lety +7

      Deion was brought in by SF mostly because of Alvin Harper , not Irvin. Harper was the one torching the 49ers in the key moments of the 2 previous NFC Championship games . So the fact Irvin got loose for the 12 receptions and 2 TDs were because of the defensive coverages designed to try to take away the deep ball which Harper provided for Dallas during that time. Irvin just feasted on more of the short to mid-range passes because of it.That & the mere fact Dallas got off to a horrible start in that game and were forced to throw more than normal because they spent the game playing catchup. How I wished Jimmy Johnson had stayed in Dallas! Ken Norton would have never been in a 49ers uniform and they would have played with more discipline than they shown during the start of that game.
