Early after being diagnosed with ME/CFS I was lucky enough to be emitted to the Vancouver Women's Hospital new department for complex chronic illnesses (2013). I must say the team of doc's and support staff were outstanding helping many suffers come to terms with this damned, infernal, illness. At one session the program head (name escapes me) exclaimed she recently had a situation where a longterm ME/CFS suffer had a miracle like recovery after falling in love. The room was full with some very ill people who, as you can imagine, drew a collective sigh of disbelief and rolling their eyes hearing such a simplistic solution to this devastating condition. But her story stuck with me, and now with folks latching onto you - and others - promoting the polyvagal theory of recovery I can see how finding ones life partner would indeed have such a joyous feeling the amygdalas could be tricked into switching "off' fight or flight mode allowing the body's systems to resume 'normal' service ... lets all pray for love😍

That's a great story. We can also activate the same neurotransmitters, peptides and hormones we experience when we are in love by imagining love, or joy, or peace, or safety. This is real science not woo woo. When we rehearse things in our imaginations we create a similar inner environment and brain changes as if it actually occurred. So why wait?

I have been working with the facia/myofacia system this last year - through meditation and spesific exercises. The research around this body system is quite new and facinating. They think this system reacts to the surroundings before the nervous system and the brain. This was an epiphany for me - I have used this work together with neuroplastic tecniques. «The issues is in the tissues» as they say.
How exiting it must be to journey on without any time restriction! 🌻

I think you are onto something. The connective tissue is at the center of communication in the body including with the nervous, blood circulation and immune systems. It has been totally ignored by conventional medicine.

    Hi Ellie,
Thanks for this. Makes sense. So, I took a moment and thought of something to reassure my "Amy" with today. I completed a task that frightened me. Done! Nothing broken! It's all good and I have a great sense of accomplishment. Yay!
    Bon Voyage!

Well done, self reassurance is a great tool. Of course it only works if the situation is actually safe. The brain won't be fooled by empty affirmations.

Exactly, and the great news is we can train our amygdala. Not to be on guard because it isn't broken.
