- In April of 2024, the Gary Sinise Foundation was honored to support the @RosietheRiveterTrust to bring over two dozen women representing millions of Rosie the Riveters to receive the long overdue Congressional Gold Medal in the halls of the US Capitol Building in #washingtondc
Join #garysinise as we celebrate on the 80th anniversary of the day after #dday when the Rosies so valiantly stepped up with their "We Can Do It" attitude to save our nation! These amazing and powerful women truly saved the world and broke down barriers during #wwii
This outreach was part of the Gary Sinise Foundation's Education Program that looks to bring together generations in remembering and honoring the service of Americans who defended our nation.

Congratulations to each of you “Rosie the Riveters”!! It’s about time you ladies are being recognized for the critical contributions you made to the war effort by working in the factories at home to ensure our military had the airplanes necessary for American airmen and women to fight the Nazis during World War Two. As “Rosie the Riveters” you not only proved women could do the job every bit as good as the men; YOU DID IT!!!! Congratulations on finally receiving your Congressional Medals of Honor ladies!! God bless you all for your hard work and “Can Do” attitudes. Each one of you deserves this long overdue honor and your families and you should be very proud of the essential contributions each of you made in ensuring Victory for America and its Allies. My Grandma Ethel and Aunt Frances her eldest daughter were Rosies in Detroit too. Dad was a B24 pilot in England.
@@janetprice85 WOW!!! You must be so proud of your family and their service to America during WWII. Their service and sacrifices are the reasons that the Allies won WWII and that you and I, along with millions of other people in the world, grew up free. My Dad landed on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion and he and his Division fought their way up the Beach through France and into Germany and survived to return home to America. My Mom was born and raised in The Netherlands. Her hometown was occupied by the Nazis and her family hid a Jewish friend from the Nazis until the Americans liberated their town. I think that we both come from families we can be proud of!! God bless America. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Not going naked is as important as food and bombs...due to capitalism nixing Regulations We make none thus no independence security, REAL VOICE IN THE WORLD, economies of scale in price n QUALITY, solid tax base of non-loopholers, the left wants more regs to finalize communism in AMERICA to finish the job of sending out to china ,... what we still have in industries...

Richly deserved...long time coming.
I live outside of Detroit, we had several plants, Ford Rouge, Willow Run, Detroit Glass Plant to name a few. They were HIGH risk target areas. My mother grew up on one of the streets that was next to the plant. They had to make black out curtains and the nights had to be quiet in case the enemy made it to the area and was under surveillance. These ladies have LONG deserved the recognition for what they did in service for the country.

FANTASTIC! Long past time! My mom went by train (alone as her friend chicken out) from MN to WA to work in a factory for the war effort. She said she was not a riveter wished I had asked what she did. Amazing women! Wished they'd make a movie about these ladies.

Thank you for recognizing the Rosies. Not just riviters on planes, let's remember the ladies who worked as welders on ships also. My mom worked in the Vancouver ship yards on several ships including the USS Alazon Bay. They were part of the effort to save the world and they did it!!!!
My Mom took a leave from nursing school and worked in a munitions factory. After the war ended she finished nursing school.
About time, I’m so happy for the recognition these fantastic women received. Still as feisty as those 17-18 year olds they were. Thank you for your war effort. We did it because of you.

In the fall of 1939, President Roosevelt called for a production of 50,000 air planes a year. The rest of the world thought that was ridiculously impossible. It took us a little bit, but by 1942 we rolled out 46,907. In 1943 we produced 84,853 and 96,270 in 1944. That's just planes. It doesn't even begin to take into consideration the other military hardware, weapons, and ammunition produced. These "Rosies" were absolutely vital to the United States and to the Allies in World War II. Congratulations on finally receiving your recognition "Rosies."
My mom was one of them. Sadly, she passed away in 2010.

There were many Rosies. My grandmother,a 43 year old widow,of a farmer and Deputy Sheriff became a "Rosie the Riveter" when she saw how much her eldest daughter my 19 year old Aunt was making at it.Dad was the breadwinner after his father died at 45 unexpectedly then the WW2 started and Dad was in Europe. Quite the change for a homemaker but she loved it.
Morale keeper Rosie the Riveter self empowered women. Wild Bill Donovan strategist in espionage medal of honor recipient. Chesty Puller legendary marine with four navy crosses deployed in Haiti and Nicaragua.

Congratulations to all Rosies. I am a daughter of a WW2 Dad who fought in France. Last September at 69 years young and took my first trip to DC. I wish I could go back year. I am now 70. My cousin lives in Alexanderia VA. I stayed with him. I wish I could afford to stay in a hotel. However my income is limited. I am blessed to live in housing.

The Rosie the Riveter Museum in Richmond, CA is free to visit all year round. It is next to an old Ford factory and has a wonderful view of the bay on a clear day. There’s also a ferry landing on the other side of the factory that you can take from SF’s Embarcadero. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to the Gary Sinise Foundation for helping shine a light on these invaluable workers from WWII. The work they did was incredible and the struggles they faced as women, especially those of color, remained making their contributions even more poignant. Thank you ladies, your legacies will continue to inspire American women forever. We will not forget you and your efforts on the homefront!
