Pole position "Toyota GR010 Hybrid" (Kamui Kobayashi) 3:23:900 meaning as fast as 2008 Audi R10 TDI, 2009 Audi R15 TDI, 2010 Audi R15 TDI Plus, 2012 & 2014 Audi R18 e-tron quattro and 2015 Toyota TS040 best qualifying laps at Lemans.
    And only 1 second behind 2013 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, 2014 Porsche 919 Hybrid and 2016 Audi R18.
Kobayashi is just a monster, doing mid tier Low downforce LMP1 lap times with LMH...

      @arkeusalexander9054 Před 2 lety +44

@@mitchell-wallisforce7859 This is not the first time a lap time downgrade like this happen. These are 1st Gen Le Mans Hypercar and they are as fast as 1st gen Le Mans Prototype Hybrid (2012).
After the suppression of Group C category, from 1995 to 2005 FIA GT1, LMP900 and LMGTP pole postion's were locked somewhere between 3m30s and 3m46s, only 2002 Audi R8 LMP900 and 1999 Toyota TS020 GT-One LMGTP (the 1998 TS020 version was GT1 Class and was slower despite having the same chassis) did 3m29s during those 10 years (1995-2005)
While back in 1992-1993 when Prototype group C were at there prime, Peugeot 908 Evo 1B ran faster than any car at Lemans 1992 (03:21:209 Pole position faster than any LMP1 before 2015 season except Peugeot 908).
That record was broken 15 years later in 2008 season when Peugeot 908 HDi FAP of Stéphane Sarrazin did 03:18:513 (first car in history to break the 3m20s barrier), then Peugeot won Le Mans 2009 against it's rival Audi and went again under 3m20s at Le Mans 2010 (03:19:711 Pole postion by Stéphane Sarrazin), and Sarrazin did it again many times during the race at night, probably one of the most crazy season of Le Mans with the 2015 season.
During that same 2010 season Audi and Peugeot went beyond limits, only one Peugeot finished the race and three Audi R15 TDI Plus went beyond 390 laps something that never happened at Le Mans with chinanes (397 laps which is the actual record, 396 laps and 394 laps). Cars running more than 390 laps at Lemans since the construction of chicanes only happened in 2010 and 2015 seasons. Even Toyota TS050 at its best season did 388 laps which is a very high performance at Le Mans.
Anyway to go back to the lap times, let's say except Peugeot, the first time cars went under 3m20s at Le Mans since the construction of the chicanes in 1990 is during the 2015 season, when the Porsche 919 Hybrid MK I (Neel Jani) broke Peugeot qualifying lap record by doing a 03:16:887, also the same day two other Porsche 919 Hybrid and one Audi R18 e-tron quattro went under 3m20s during the qualifyings. Finally, during the race (meaning there was traffic because of LMP2 and GT cars) Andre Lotterer driving one of the Audi R18 e-tron established the fastest racing lap in Le Mans history both before and after chicanes by running 03:17:475.
And at the end of the race 5 LMP1 went beyond 390 laps : Three Porsche 919 Hybrid completed respectively 395 laps, 394 laps, 391 laps and two Audi R18 e-tron quattro running 393 laps and 392 laps. After that season not a single car ran more than 388 laps until today.
Here is some additional information to resume what happened after 2015.
-Le mans 2016 (Audi last season)
Pole Position 03:19:733 (Porsche 919 Hybrid MKII)
Winner 384 laps (Porsche 919 Hybrid MKII)
-Le mans 2017 (Porsche last season)
Pole Position 03:14:791 (Toyota TS050 Hybrid MKII which is the actual record by Kamui Kobayashi)
Also 2 other LMP1 did 3m17s (another Toyota TS050 MKII Hybrid and Porsche 919 Hybrid MKIII)
Winner 367 laps (Porsche 919 Hybrid MKIII)
-Le mans 2018 (Toyota is now the only LMP1 Hybrid left)
Pole Position 03:15:377 (Toyota TS050 Hybrid MKIII driven by Kazuki Nakajima)
The second Toyota did 3m17, two Rebellion R13 and one BR Engineering BR1-AER did 3m19
Winner 388 laps (Toyota TS050 Hybrid MKIII)
-Le mans 2019 (non hybrid LMP1 are allowed to use new technogies to compete equally with LMP1 Hybrid)
Pole Position 03:15:497 (Toyota TS050 Hybrid MK IV driven by Jose Maria Lopez)
During the qualifyings 6 cars went under 3m17 (two Toyota TS050 Hybrid did 3m15, two BR Engineering BR1-AER and two Rebellion R13 did 3m16). Meaning 6 cars faster than Audi and Porsche in 2015 season and all 6 cars breaking Porsche old record (03:16:887).
Also during the race Mike Conway driving one of the Toyota broke Andre Lotterer record by fractions of a second and established a new fastest racing lap (03:17:297)
Winner 385 laps (Toyota TS050 Hybrid MK IV)
-Le mans 2020 (SMP Racing/Dallara and it's non hybrid LMP1 BR-Engineering leaves Le Mans after ranking 3rd behind two Toyotas, Rebellion R13 being the only remaining car managing to inflict defeats to Toyota at other WEC races)
Pole Position 03:15:267 (Toyota TS050 Hybrid MK V)
During the hyperpole Rebellion R13 became the first and only non-hybrid LMP1 to achieve a qualifying lap time of 3m15 at Le Mans, the second Toyota TS050 Hybrid did 3m16.
Winner 387 laps (Toyota TS050 Hybrid MK V)
Rebellion ranked 2nd with 382 laps and managing to beat the second Toyota, something which never happened at Le Mans since Audi and Porsche left.
I hope you enjoyed reading these informations lol.

To big to react to the market place. which makes this whole thing a Vanity project that doesn't really have any reflection in the market place. Where as if they or Nissan bought out a cool mid engined car with a scaled down version LIKE HONDA HAS.. Look at how legendary and collectable the NSX is now. These guys are missing a trick here.

Le Mans LMP1 is a joke. its just two exact cars racing against each other. LMP2 is not much better, you have the same identical Oreca 07 cars racing each other. Just imagine F1 race 20 exactly same cars. Only interesting racing in Le Mans is the GT cars, its just a pity that the manufacturers entering is getting less by the year. Unless Le Mans is changing the LMP1/2 series its going to kill itself.

This is hypercar not lmp1, also lmp1 cars have always been different just look at 2016 there was a fwd lmp1 car, the gtrlm, unlike current f1 lmp1 and hypercars allow for different and more unique designs, I kinda agree with you on lmp2 because they need to change as there is so much bop on the at the moment it's abit ridiculous.

The series is going to kill itself? Wtf? From 2023 there will be in hypercar - Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Peugeot, Acura/Honda, Toyota, Glickenhaus, Bykolles and maybe Alpine. But sure... the series is doomed.
