These meme build matches are just a long-con by Turin to erode the sanity of all the top level players until there's no more competition left.
"We will keep the game fresh by sapping away at the meta yes-yes."
A big complaint with the old games was that the meta got stale, which it certainly did sometimes. Play like this really helps to keep people exploring new options and playing the game in non-samey ways. (Case in point: Turin and co. really popularized wagon-play which became a staple of a lot of empire builds). Eroding their sanity is a public service!
@@dome2919 The big Factor is the Terrain you have in Domination, like you see in this Game. Landbattles were all flat, at least in TWW2.
Ngl, loading into that is definitely a 'wtf' moment for cathay. I'd get heartburn looking at how they're perched behind the hill alone

An unsung hero of this buidl was the artillery unsummoning. Being able to get value back after ranged pieces have dumped their payloads is a great incentive to keep them alive. It always feels weird to watch units like that get yeeted into the fray in late game battles, and domination gives you a reward for taking pains to maintain their health (or forcing you opponent to worry about greater goals than pushing your arty).
Missile strength is a value based on the damage output of a ranged unit over 10 seconds, so units with a slow firing rate (like most artillery) can have missile strength values lower than the damage of an individual shot or volley.
The Templehof Luminark does about 2k per hit, but has a reload time of 18 seconds, so its missile strength is 1.2k.
Melee shoud be displayed as dps. Ranged should be dmg per volley. The way CA does it is objectively stupid and misleading.
Perhaps. It's a way to show how things like reload speed reduction increases ranged DPS without having it be a separate bar. And melee DPS is dependant on much more than ranged, with things like animations that stats don't take into account.
But maybe you're right. I was just saying how it currently works.
True. It was a pain when I was doing my spreadsheet with all units stats before/after XP/redline/research to ensure that it was perceptbile what was actually changing

Rivertroll hags are great for sure. Back during the tyranny of Grom you used to make jokes that they were his wife/gf because of how common it was to see them together. Super solid piece and I'm happy that GS has them.

This is the most beautiful battle I ever did see. Doom divers alone make it an A+ experience. Then Nasty skulkers locking down Miao Ying. Then a beautiful charge of squigs. No one could ask for more but the battle still had more to give. A giant River Troll Hag beating on a Terracotta Sentinel with her sack of fish. My cup runneth over.
You absolute mad-lad Turin! I love it when you show builds that aren't just the same meta mass skirmish cavalry and wide infantry. That match was a lot of fun

Post-Warden and Paunch... not only seeing the Greenskins every game but BS Grom and the Hag too AND before the poison nerf... I don't miss that time of the game

I mean, i remember how well it worked the rock gobs against the dwarfs. Just 5 of them literally obliterated them so fast. you can just use grimgor+ror with immortulz item, 3 idols, 4 black ork heroes and the rest catapults. Boy it was fun.
I hate going up against greenskins in campaign, because they'll occasionally bring a doom diver spam stack. Since they're so good at killing single entities, you almost always take a lot of damage no matter your composition. Fun match!
The "green dwarves" was a legit tactic back in ol fantacy 8th edition

All range attacks show the DPS value over 10 seconds & not the damage per volley
Thats the best battle ive ever seen.
ramged units show damage over ten seconds. most ranged units fire once every ten seconds, but some artilery fire slower than that.
This is fantastic, I love when fucking nuts builds like these work.

Completely unrelated to the vid Turin but I wanted to ask if your pronunciation of "Harbinger" was intentional or not. I've been pouring through your videos because I'm a huge fan of your casting and I've noticed several times you pronounce it like "Har-bringer" instead of "Har-benjer" (the second being the correct pronunciation).

Still haven't figured out that the missile strength on the unit card refers to dmg done over 10 seconds? 🙂 I mean when you point on the value the last sentence on the tooltip tells you that the dmg value is over 10 seconds. That's also the reason why the missile strength value goes up when you use a skill which reduced reload time, or when a ranged unit gains a chevron ( level up reduces reload time )

Bit confused, he called the River Troll Hag a staple, this is the first time I've ever seen one. Are they just really good against Cathay?
I assume you haven't been watching TWW2 games, where Grom + Hag were the core of every single Greenskin army. With Grom's nerf, Azhaag became a bit more common, so the hag isn't brought as much anymore, but she's still a really, really good character. For a reasonable price, you get a Death caster that's really hard to goon, that regenerates, that can fight off anything short of dedicated anti-large units or duelist characters, that gives -6MA to enemy units in AoE, and that has 3 charges of a 60% slow.
@@sotark1109 I'll be honest most of the time I see Greenskins it's Azhag or Wurrzhag, but I only really started watching from TW3 onwards.

I have to say, the builds you play genuinely make me angry sometimes.
They should not work. They should not be as good as they are. The Meow-ing should not get reduced to 8 speed and lose most of her health to a damn goblin smacking against her side.
And yet it all works.
