    All the bases in Meagher Valley. This is my favorite region both because of how easy it is to drive in and because it has Squelones Brewing Company. Do you agree or disagree with this list? If you don't agree, what is your counter list, and why is it different from mine?

      Cascade Hills is my favorite. The container fort is amazing and the corner office is a really good stopgap, with the caveat being there are constant hordes so your base is under attack pretty regularly. The good thing though is that you can seal off all but one of the entry points with vehicles making sieges a cakewalk.

  • @brooksp1191
    @brooksp1191 Před 5 lety +18

    2 Major issues I had with Camp and Whitney Field was the massive amount of zombies and hordes that lingered around. This was especially bad at the Camp as the main entry point always had at least 1-2 hordes sitting there. Police station I liked as it was off the road, didn't have much issue with lingering zombies, and the armory allowed for another press in the workshop. Though I may end up moving to Distillery to farm influence and prep to end my current community(builder so trying to complete it just for legacy card).
    For bedding, another system I use is relying on allied Enclaves. As you can get a few set up as a Bed and Breakfast and get +2 bedding and +1 Food. Can be a pain to setup but saves you on using outposts and can free up slots.

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  Před 5 lety

      I think the Police Station is pretty good as a mid game base, but I would still go with Brewery or Whitney Field as a final base. The large concentration of zombies can work in your favor as they become a constant source of influence as you kill them.

    Only thing I hate about Squelones currently is the insane number of zombies lurking outside the doors now!
    Whitney field for me literally minutes before I went to move in was taken by those zombie guys & I raged!
    Overall my favorite order would be
    1. Squelones: with the red talon facilities you can make the indoor look really cool & military style organized, nearly the middle of the map.
    Note: Since you can drive offroad through 95% of this map its not a big deal if you avoid the gas burning vehicles you can live anywhere & not be annoyed.
    2. Police station: just like the aesthetic especially if you have a sheriff & find a police car!
    3. Clarington house: if only the damn garage was a large slot (Undead labs stop wasting spaces) & the house had 2 more smalls 1 outside in the corner & 1 in the bathroom downstairs.
    4. Mazzaraz Farm: perfect farm style home. I seem to encounter ferals here a bit to frequently though.
    5. Whitney field: Whats the point in gates if zombies somehow can still hop them...
    6. Camp Crystal Lake: just never found it interesting, to damn much wasted space that could be slots.
    7. The Church: cause if i set foot in one my skin burns.

    Great video man, definitely some good Info here. However I have to say Camp K is the best base in the map. It actually has 8 beds built into it. There's the bunkhouse that gives 4 and 2 other buildings that are occupied but also provide 2 beds each. Plus it's close to most of the hidden weapon caches. With the setup I have every resource is in the positive and I have 10 people in my community. I've done every map and so far Camp K in my opinion is the 2nd best in the game only losing to the container for in cascade

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  Před 5 lety +3

      Having played through the Nightmare Zone quite a bit, I would say the best bases in the entire game are going to be Whitney Field and Squelones Brewing Company. The patch allowing for more leader buildings makes the 3 slot bases incredibly powerful, and Whitney Field is the most defensible base in the game.

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  Před 5 lety +3

      Camp K is overaverage, but you can have that kind of setup in a lot of bases. Camp K has a terrible location which is constantly under attack by zombies for some reason, and it doesn't have the special features of Whitney Field's 3-large slot or Squelones' mass influence farming power to really consider Camp K a top tier base.

Once I get through skills, maybe some more Daybreak stuff, and maybe some concepts like beginner tips, I'll basically be out of relevant stuff to talk about in SoD2. At that point, I was thinking about talking about just SoD2 in general like the story and stuff like that.
      SoD2 isn't a live service, though, like Fortnite or Warframe which means there's going to come a point where the game has been mostly explored, and everything that remains is just scraping the bottom of the barrel.

The base I use is the baseball field and I have garden and farm to upkeep with my communities food plus I get bonus food for spending seeds. My issue was materials because like you said it was -5 to upkeep facilities but I made allies that give me +2 mats a day and then I set up an outpost which is plus one. I don't have person with computers which means no lvl 3 command center and I only have a signal antenna which means I have 4 outposts. I'm soon going to make all of my outposts material outposts so that the upkeep cost is dealt with. The waste of space is probably the most annoying thing in this game. There are so many areas in certain bases that could clearly be useful but are taken up by useless crap that you don't need.
    "Cabin Park Motel" in Drucker County is a perfect example. You can clear one seating area but not the one that has a bunch of useless table benches. There's also clearly an area right next to it that could've been a small plot but has a small amount of trash on the ground. If you can clear entire cabins and heavy trash plots, why wouldn't you be able to just pick up a few pieces of light trash?
    The devs need to stop wasting space for the next game. It's getting on my nerves. In the context of the apocalyptic setting of this world, it's just not realistic. You'd wanna use as much available space as possible.
    With that said, "Mohr and Mohr Distributing" in Cascade Hills is a base that's well designed from a space utilization standpoint. It's compact and there aren't really any large spaces that are wasted. The Container Fort is also another base that's well designed. In fact, I think the Container Fort is the best base in the entire game.
    Container Fort is right in the middle of a neighborhood, so not only do you have tons of safe space surrounding your base, but you have all the resource outposts you could ever need right there. There's power access right next door, restaurants for food, clinics for medicine and gas stations for fuel.
    This is the only base I have that's 100% self-sufficient, meaning I don't have to scavenge for any resources. Plus, it's incredibly easy to defend with only two access points and all your survivors are on the upper levels, shooting down.

    • @GitGudFox

    The most important thing I look for in a base is defensibility. For me container fort wins hands down! It has two high small slots for watch towers, the edges allow for auto sniper coverage, there are only 3 entrances (2 doors, 1 fence which you can block with a vehicle). The brewery has like 5 entry points that zeds can get in and the watch tower is only available in the middle. It just feels more out in the open than container fort. You should do the most defendable bases in each map!

    I love the police station, probably my favorite small base on the entire game. I don't think it's that remote, the roads are pretty much clear and it takes no time to zip to whatever location you want, travel times not much more than the farm or the distillery - but it also has 4 parking spots! The other 5 man bases only have 2! It's also right off the road, so pulling in and out quickly, dropping stuff off can be done extremely fast. I like to keep a couple vans as extra ruck sack storage parked out front too so this base works perfectly. The built in armory is also super handy for making 9mm and .45 so I can keep an ammo press for 5.56 and 7.62 at my workshop. I had a sniper tower in the back, as part of my builder leader's legacy goals and it turns this place into a fortress. I went to the ball field after the police station and HATED IT - hard to defend, terrible location and depressing setup... so I went back to the police station. I've since moved to the distillery, and it's ok but even it lacks the 4 parking spots and the easy on/off the highway the police station offered. So overall: Police Station #1, Distillery #2, Ball field #3 (and only because of its size - because I actually hated it, worst large base in the game).

The Farm and the Campground are meh. Farm has good location, for movement, but feels vulnerable, both are lacking in parking spaces.
      So my breakdown would be:
      1. Police Station

      You can even take it further. I've learned a better technique than this but still uses a similar setup. What you need is a pill press facility mod, you need a pharmacist (chemistry base skill), and you might need medicine to get your infirmary to level 3.
      1) Install the pill press.
      2) Build strong pain killers.
      You will get 6 strong pain killers for 1 medicine supply and 2 ethanol. They will sell for like 204 or 206 influence.
      3) Use Sequelones Brewery to turn excess food into ethanol to supply your pill press.
      I think it is the strongest influence generator in the game that isn't like an exploit or something. The best part is that you use the same setup as the one I initially taught, just a change in priorities.
      If you need a pill press, call in medicine traders with the Trade Depot. They have a chance of selling one. Just keep calling them in until you get it.

    Personally I prefer the camp as with the certain outposts and mods and rooms you can make it into a good 8 man base with enough food and little recourse loss, even on nightmare this is possible

    I wouldn't say Whitney Field is more customizable than the Strip Mall, because unlike the Strip Mall it has no infirmary built in. So one of those five small facilities will have to be an infirmary, leaving you with only four facilities you can really upgrade the way you want.

      The strip mall has only 1 outdoor small slot which similarly means it'll be used for either a guard tower or a garden, and the baseball field has 2 guard towers pre-built.

      @@GitGudFox But are you implying that watchtowers are as essential as an infirmary?

      No, but it doesn't have to be. The list of valuable small facilities is so tight that they're pre-determined. The 1 outdoor small facility is just automatically going to default into either a garden or a watchtower unless you have some kind of very specific ideal in mind.
      You're going to build an infirmary, a workshop, and immediately after that you're building a garden and a watch tower. There aren't any other small facilities that are going to compete for those 4 slots, and when only 1 slot is outdoor, the scarcity of outdoor slots means you're either making a large slot farm or a small slot garden, or a watch tower.

    I prefer the police station until beds become a problem. I find it real easy to defend and with how easy driving is on this map being all the way north isn't that big of deal. With that said I have been completely blind to the actual value of the brewery so I will have to give that a go.
