  • This feature documents the February 1922 first winter ascent of Mt Rainier by Jean and Jacques Landry, Jacques Bergues and cameraman Charles Perryman. This is the first motion picture taken on the summit of Mount Rainier and shows the first winter ascent of any significant peak in WA. This film was preserved by The Mountaineers in Seattle.

This film was preserved by The Mountaineers in Seattle. The Mountaineers wish to thank Steve Turner and family for donating his grandfather Charles Perryman's newsreel films to the club. These and other Mountaineer films are now held by the University of Washington Libraries, Special Collections Division.

This video was originally posted on the Mountaineers website. Since I believe the copyright has expired, it's okay to post it on CZcams without the club's permission, but a polite note would have been nice. The original Mountaineer web address can be found in the comments left by the CZcams poster. (I don't seem able to enter the address in this comment box.)
